Popular Post JEDLander
I've got about 5 bosses left on expert then I've got the platinum, but I've found this mode to just frankly be a miserable slog. All the bosses are just more annoying now. There's no new phases or mechanics, there's just more shit cluttering the screen. What's worse is that I've found literally no sense of accomplishment because these are all bosses that I've beaten before, and beating them again gives you absolutely nothing, so when I manage to scrape through the tedious bullet-hell I just kinda sit there like '... ok which one was next?'
MohandGamer7
I found it easier than regular lol... but i think expert mode should’ve been the default difficulty
jlojlo1
I also enjoyed expert mode a lot despite the fact it doesn't bring new phases or something similar! Just by speeding things up and giving more health, some bosses become a real challenge (Wally Warbles, Hilda Berg, Cala Maria...) when the already difficult ones don't really become much harder (I mean, the robot is already pure BS on normal so it couldn't be worse). But clearly, new phases would have been really cool (for the DLC, maybe).
Spinosaurus Rex
Expert was not best design-wise, because it was just "increase health pool + speed of enemies + additional projectiles" unoriginal staple instead of additional form (would even fit the theme: Simple doesn't include last form of boss which Regular has and Expert would add additional - game would be super replayable, but probably devs couldn't afford the time and money to extend the game more). I still enjoyed it though, let out a few "f**k this game" here and there, but I still kept returning to the game. I think the true bulls*it of this game is P-ranking these annoying run-and-gun stages.
JEDLander
I've got Wally, the fucked-up robot and the fish lady left. I'm enjoying precisely none of them. Even when I beat a boss I'm just sat here like 'oh sweet, I finally managed to beat that boss. Again. And now I get absolutely nothing for doing it. Awesome'. It's like all the frustration with none of the enjoyment or accomplishment that came with beating the game first time round.
Joe Dubz
I only have about the first 7 bosses done so far on expert. I don't really mind the extra challenge, but it does feel kind of hollow in that they are just bullet sponges now with more of the same shit to dodge! Nonetheless this game is incredible and I'm so glad it finally came to PS!
BushidoCypher
Expert is great but it's how the game should have been played. I'm halfway through editing my full video guide filled with great methods etc thanks to @arcanehornet_ so hopefully will be useful to some. Best run so far is 93 deaths for Platinum on a customer's acc
TalalHmd
I completely agree, I found it cheap, regular is balanced a lot better I also have 5 bosses left, but I don't feel like trying them now.

Copanele
I kinda feel the same...while Normal mode was an absolute blast, Expert mode is just frustrating at this point. I do not enjoy the game anymore, I just wish to finish it already. I only got left Act 3 bosses minus Werner Vermin, who went down after 20 tries or so. I can't handle Rumor Honeybottom and Dr Kahl's Robot at all, they are my worst nightmare in this game. Could barely beat them on normal. Most of the time I am put in undodgeable situations which kinda is annoying. Ironically, Grim Matchstick is the only boss that's easier on Expert, since the clouds are going in the opposite direction.

I find it interesting you say this, considering you did Jotun which is hard on its own and heavily luck based.

Yes thing is with bullet hells.... A stray shot can severely mess up your stuff and that pisses me off way more than Jotun's RNG. For instance, at the Honeybottom fight which is basically a vertical scrolling shooting section, i died every time because of stray bullets or punches coming from off screen. That can get really infuriating after a while. At least in Jotun i saw where the dumb boss will attack.
JxhanF
Totally agree that Expert should’ve been the default. Right now it’s just a lazy game mode forcing you to play through everything twice with tiny changes.
machaesthetic
I really enjoyed Expert. It was actually a more significant bump in difficulty than I was expecting, and between increased speed, higher health, more projectiles, and different patterns, it really makes most fights feel quite different. I found the hardest boss by far to be The Devil, followed by King Dice, Phantom Express, and Rumor Honeybottoms. The shmup ones were pretty easy and none took me more than a few tries. I'm not sure why people would struggle with them unless they didn't take Twin Hearts or didn't use their bombs in certain phases (especially helps with Wally's stretcher phase and Djimmi's sarcophagus phase). Great game, and I think Expert gives it another layer of depth for those who want to challenge themselves even more. Baker
Forget expert mode. I hate this game in general. Crappy controls. Way too much RNG. For me this is a terrible game wrapped up in some nice artwork and some decent music. I can’t play this longer than 30 min. before I get frustrated. Worst buy for me in the last couple of years.
Eternal21
I didn't mind it at all. As others indicated, a lot of time it took me less time to beat the game on Expert, because I was already familiar with the boss. It also meant I had to get better at other aspects of the game, that I could blissfully ignore on lower difficulty (parrying and super attacks for example). In the end I the extra boss health didn't even feel that bad. It just meant I had to get more proficient at dodging, instead of relying solely on the 2 extra heart charm. Tell me you're bad at the game without telling me you're bad at the game /s. Seriously though, the game is meant to be difficult and there is no RNG, it makes you memorize attack patterns and use pattern recognition and muscle memory to get past bosses.

Lol what are you talking about. Some bosses have mini bosses, Varoness Von Bon Bon has 5 mini bosses, but you only face 3 each fight. That is the only randomness to it. What I meant was that the attacks of the bosses come in a different order every time. The attacks are the same, sure. Platforms you need to jump on are never in the same spot. For example at the dragon and that giant bee fight. That’s RNG to me. That is not something I like, therefore I didn’t like the game. It was not hard whatsoever. The dragon fight feels ridiculous on Expert because you can never count on clouds being where you need them to be, and if you don't have a backup plan you're taking damage. I agree in general. My son wanted this game for his birthday and I told him it was known to be a hard game. I typically have to help or finish the games that are difficult or the one's that he gets bored of...or says he will help me and then decides...no I will do something else, lol. We have finished Isle I on Normal, haven't even tried Expert and while I haven't raged, I find the game pretty cheap and ridiculous. Fought Ribby and Kroaks and found a pattern in what they were doing for the slot machine attack and finally beat them last night. Yet it's the randomness of attacks that makes creating a strategy to battle each level or boss difficult. It's hard to prepare when the attack they are going to use on you...could change, mid battle. So in essence you need to prepare and get good at facing multiple forms and sub-forms of bosses just to get past them. A real issue I noticed with this was Cagney Carnation, when it hits its last form, in Normal mind you, the entire floor is covered with the plant, there are 3 platforms, 2 of which were covered at one point with her vine attack, and we hadn't killed the last flying mini-sunflower which shoots a pellet at an angle, and it does it's tongue attack shooting a projectile from right to left. So if you just stop and calculate on the entire screen all the things that are going on...there is 1 safe space to stand, which is on the platform that isn't being attacked by vines, while hoping that it isn't shot by the mini-sunflower and it's tongue fireball. That's just damn ridiculous. I do appreciate the games art style, and kind of child like story and cartoon look, it just is a massive disappointment as it is clearly aimed towards kids, especially with the netflix tv show, and yet it's harder than hell even for adults. I'm sure it has made the developers some good money, yet this is definitely a purchase I regret.
