Popular Post LancashireLad87
LancashireLad87 I have seen a lot of these checklists around and thought I would make my own, but this is going to be slightly different or with a twist. When I created my account I decided to try and give myself a worthy challenge when it came to the games I decided to pick up and play. I tried to add games from multiple genres and sub-genres because variety is the spice of life apparently. Each of the 16 games on my list pose a challenge in some shape or form, although some of the trophies are unobtainable due to the closure of servers, specifically for Gran Turismo 5 and Wipeout HD. My goal is very simple, I will try and earn as many trophies as I possible can, I will post my thoughts regarding each game including my experience and any tips or advice I can provide to help others overcome these challenges. If anyone wishes to assist with any online trophies please message me through PSN, much appreciated! With all that out of the way, I should probably write a little bit about myself and my gaming history. The first game I ever played was Alex the Kidd on the Sega Master System, if I recall the game was already loaded on to the machine. I don't remember much of the game to be honest I was only 4 or 5 years old at the time. Growing up I owned a variety of consoles ranging from the SNES, Playstations and various handheld systems, mostly Game-boys,anybody growing up in the 90's will know what I'm talking about. As my PSN name suggests I'm 33 and reside in sunny Lancashire which is in the North West region of the UK. I'm a fan of most genres but I excel at Hack and Slash, Racing and I'm decent at 2D Fighters. I've had a few unofficial world records in gaming over the years, my first came from an absolute classic of the PS2 era which I pray will be remastered at some point, Timesplitters 2! I was 15 or 16 at the time and I reached rank 1 on the leaderboards for the Behead the Undead Challenge 1. Years and years ago I had another unofficial world record from Athens 2004 which was the Archery event which many other players managed to achieve the same feat of 12 bulls-eyes in a row. I have had a few others but I think that's enough of that. Now on to the games! _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 1). Batman Arkham Asylum Current trophy percentage 100% Trophies 48/48 From what I've read this game is widely regarded as one of the best games to ever grace the PS3 and with good reason. The combat is fast, fluid and tactical with a variety of environments and puzzles to keep the player engaged within the world of Gotham. Batman has access to many unique and wonderful gadgets at his disposal to mess with any lawbreakers everything from explosive gel, batarangs and special takedowns. The voice acting is top-notch especially Mark Hamill who voices the Joker. The game is littered with 240 riddler challenges and 24 chronicles of Arkham that unlock additional challenges for the player to adapt and overcome. Trophy-wise the most difficult trophies in the game are Freeflow Perfection and the 24 combat medals. Hard difficulty isn't as bad as it seems and in my honest opinion gets easier the further you progress since you will have access to a larger move-pool and subsequently have upgraded your health to make you slightly more robust and durable in the heat of battle. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Freeflow Perfection - This is a silver trophy that requires you to use all of Batman's abilities in one seamless combo from start to finish without getting hit or making a mistake. It's not as bad as it sounds but you will need a group of at least 5 or 6 henchman before you can attempt it and all of Batman's abilities. If I recall, I earned this during one of the combat challenges you need to perform the following skills in one combo; Ultra Batclaw, punch, counter, evade, stun move, special takedowns 1 and 2, batarang and finally a grounded takedown. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 24 Combat medals - Another silver trophy except this one requires you to earn all 24 combat medals across the 8 combat challenge arenas. The majority of them will not cause you many problems but there's one in particular that is a pain to complete, Shock and Awe (Extreme). This is difficult for two reasons you need to defeat all of the enemies across 4 rounds or waves earning 30,000 points in total so you need to average 7,500 per round after clear bonuses are applied. Then you have to deal with the timer, racing against the clock if you fail to defeat all the enemies within a wave, once the timer reaches zero a few seconds later the floor will be electrified resulting in the challenge being failed! _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 2). Crash Nitro Fueled Current trophy percentage 100% Trophies 48/48 An absolute classic kart racer, remade for the current generation, I played this a lot growing up but I didn't know about all the advanced techniques you can pull off such as U-turning, air braking or even how to maintain fire from a boost pad, man I was naïve as a kid, how I won against my friends I will never know haha. A lot of games are being remade or remastered which is great for nostalgia but the game was remade by a completely different developer, Beenox who absolutely nailed it. The game is full of content, adventure mode, time trials, ring rally, cup races, hidden unlockables for the masters of the game to test their skills against the games hardest challenges. If you've played kart racers before and you haven't played this gem then I strongly suggest you purchase the game! It takes a bit of adjusting to the drift boost system but once you get it the game is an absolute blast! Another reason why I enjoy the game is you can visually see yourself progressing as a player, for me there should be a payoff for the time I invest into a game. I don't support micro-transactions for in-game currency though, I and others have had to grind races to get cosmetic items, karts and more racers to use but it's not necessary for the trophies. Trophy-wise the game has a few difficult trophies to obtain but with practice and persistence you shall prevail. The trophies which will make or break your platinum are clearing the game on hard difficulty, untouchable and the infamous Gasmoxian Slug trophy. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Hard difficulty - You must be adept or consistent at taking the majority of the shortcuts as the AI will target you a lot! Thankfully you only need to earn the trophies for each race and then defeat Nitrous Oxide on Oxide Station in order to unlock the trophy/achievement. The very first track is in my opinion the hardest race to overcome because you need to finish the race in around 90 seconds with the computer harassing you, if you can get ahead of the pack early on and get some kind of a lead you should be fine, so don't mess up! _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Untouchable - This trophy requires you to complete a full lap of any lap whilst maintaining your fire throughout. You must get the starting boost from the starting line and then maintain it for a whole lap. This has to be completed in an actual race so you cannot get this through time trials, track-wise it's possible to earn this on every track but the easiest is probably Coco Park or the bonus track Koala Carnival. Set the computer to easy difficulty, 3 laps and try and maintain the starting line boost and you should be golden! _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Gasmoxian Slug - Without question this is the most challenging trophy to unlock because you have to beat Nitrous Oxide's ghost on all of the CTR and CNK tracks! This equates to 31 individual tracks that you need to be decent at. The hardest tracks to defeat him on is subjective but Tiny Temple for me is by far the hardest because you have to maintain blue fire for 2+ laps, if you lose your blue fire anywhere in the track with the exception of the blue fire turbo pad, you will have to restart. Thankfully Oxide isn't that fast, he takes some wide lines, loses his fire and cannot keep sacred blue fire very long on the majority of the tracks where this speed is enabled. He also doesn't take some shortcuts which you can use to your advantage but you must be good to attempt them. A lot of people struggle with Oxide Station and Dragon Mines, the latter being a 1:34:62 which is generally the platinum breaker. You can either U-turn the spiral at the end of the track or you can take the minecart shortcut which is even more difficult and risky at the same time. If you had to beat the developers time on Dragon Mines, 99.99% of players wouldn't attempt it as the developer ghost is a 1:19:17 over 15 seconds faster than Oxide! Best of luck to anyone who attempts this trophy. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 3). Dead or Alive 5 Current trophy percentage 25% Trophies 20/48 As a fighting game fan, I decided to try the original version of Dead or Alive 5, since I'm a fan of Ninja Gaiden it seemed an obvious choice for me. I'm not the biggest fan of 3D fighters but I will certainly try my best. Admittedly, I have not spent a lot of time on the game as I have been focusing on other games but I'll get around to it eventually! Since I barely have any progress in the game I cannot provide any advice with regards to the hardest trophies. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 4). Demon's Souls Current trophy percentage 100% Trophies 38/38 What better way could there have been than starting off with the game that began it all. Such a fantastic game that is set to be re-released for the PS5, Demon's Souls was a game-defining genre which set the standard for the industry. Over the years a lot of games have been released that were influenced by Demon's Souls although it's not for the faint-hearted because the game can be pretty unforgiving at times. Demon's Souls had some very unique gameplay mechanics such as the summoning system for good or evil, players could write messages on the ground that could help or hinder another players progress. As an RPG it's very important to plan your build because you are unable to re-spec your character in the traditional sense unless you use the de-levelling exploit via False King Allant in stage 1-4 of the Boletarian Palace but nobody got time for that! The hardest system to get your head around was how the world and character tendencies work since that will heavily affect the games difficulty and potentially your progress! Trophy-wise the majority of the trophies are fairly straight-forward but some of them are luck based which is not the best way to make a trophy artificially difficult. Some of the rings and unique weapons can be difficult to obtain unless you follow a well written guide. Bladestone weapon - Without a shadow of doubt this is the most annoying trophy the game has to offer, you have to fully upgrade a weapon via the Bladestone upgrade path. You will need to find basic upgrade materials in the form of Shards, chunks and the dreaded Pure Bladestone which is the hardest thing to get since it has a 1 in 200 drop rate or 0.5% chance. In order to grind or farm for this stone you need to turn world 4 pure black by committing suicide in 4-2 around 7 times whilst in body/human form. Now go to 4-2 and take the secret passageway to find a black skeleton, kill him in any manner you see fit and hope and pray he drops the stone then immediately level your weapon to +5 and sync your trophy ASAP! It took me around 45 minutes to an hour to get mine whilst others have tried for much longer with no success. Bring and equip the Large Sword of Searching in your off-hand to help with the drop rate. Best of luck! _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 5). Devil May Cry 5 Current trophy percentage 0% Trophies 0/50 As a glutton for punishment I decided to purchase the game but I haven't loaded it on to my profile but don't worry I will play it at some point. I heard the game is a challenge but a lot of people hold the game in high regard. As a fan of the genre how can I pass the game up! I will provide any tips or advice on the game at a later date. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 6). Disgaea 3 Absence of Justice Current trophy percentage 98% Trophies 49/51 Out of all the games on my trophy list, I have poured more hours into Disgaea 3 than any other game, I'm around 150 hours into this behemoth of a game. Disgaea 3 is definitely a game that requires you to think about every action you make, any mistakes will get punished especially in the post game. It took me around 20 hours just to clear the base game as I'm new to this kind of game and I had to learn the hard way. I really like the art-style and the battle animations are very long and over the top but I love it. I would love to get the 100% but it's not going to be easy as the remaining trophies I have are both luck and skill based, wish me luck! For tips and tricks on the hardest trophies please see my post here https://forum.psnprofiles.com/topic/95436-disgaea-3-absence-of-justice-trophy-tips-tricks/#comment-2154108 _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 7). Gran Turismo 5 insert image here Current trophy percentage 62% Trophies 40/59 I have played a lot of Gran Turismo in my younger days but I have never completed 100% of the game, I was far too focused on more important things like trying to break my fastest speed around a track or breaking my MPH record. I have played a lot in terms of hours in GT5 but I have barely scratched the surface when it comes to the trophies although my game completion is a respectable 90% shame my trophies don't match that. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 8). Guitar Hero Van Halen insert image here Current trophy percentage 1% Trophies 1/47 I must have played this game for 5-10 minutes before moving back to the game I was playing, I guess I just wanted to earn something and didn't want another 0% on my list. I will go back to the game at a later date but I need to acquire the rest of the instruments and a lot of batteries for the controller. Out of all the games on my list, I feel I will struggle with this more than any other. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 9). Mirror's Edge insert image here Current trophy percentage 51% Trophies 33/51 A very unique plat-former almost parkour if you will. I'm just over the halfway mark when it comes to the trophies, I'm dreading the rest of the speed runs and the time trials. My percentage would be slightly higher if it wasn't for the DLC content which I will have to purchase at some point but hey it should make the platinum easier to obtain! I'm currently at around 36 stars out of 50 for the time trials so hopefully the DLC will help me reach that. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 10). Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 insert image here Current trophy percentage 88% Trophies 44/51 This is one of my favourite games of the PS3 era, currently sitting at a healthy 88% of the trophies although most of the trophies I'm missing are kill based with various weapons and characters which will take a fair amount of grinding but at least I have already knocked out the hardest trophies. There are 2 trophies in particular that will be a pain for people to unlock which are for clearing the game on the highest difficulty (Master Ninja) and the team missions trophy, the latter being the most difficult. Master Ninja - There are a lot of exploits and cheese strategies to overcome this difficulty because you could in theory run past 90% of the enemies and only partake in mandatory battles. I would strongly advise using the guide written by Phorus as that has helped me tremendously and is the best written and detailed guide I have seen for NGS2. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Team Missions - Without question this is the hardest trophy in the game because you need to work as a team in order to get the missions cleared therefore having to rely on another player who is competent enough to assist you is a real pain in the arse. Given the games age it's very unlikely you will find someone to help with this trophy outside of boosting sessions. More surprising to me is that the servers are still online after 10+ years which just goes to show they must cost next to nothing to maintain. The online is pretty dead as the better players will only play with each other through private rooms/invites. Best of luck! _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Edited October 2, 2020 by LancashireLad87
VigilantCrow
Welcome to our little corner of the forums. Best of luck with your goal! I may need to steal that idea, and put a goal onto my thread at some point haha. ?
evs_castro
Best of luck to you mate! I have pretty much the same goal regarding my backlog but only left a humble topic listing my platinuns in this part of the forum. Have to agree, Shock and Awe Extreme is the biggest problem in Arkham Asylum's completion.

Yes I literally just managed to beat Shock and Awe extreme by 1 second to spare before I get electrocuted on the last round.

Nice thread, best of luck to ya! Thanks, I appreciate it! Nice signature image by the way. Oh really, what is the other game that is unobtainable? I know of GT5 and Wipeout HD. It should still be possible to hit 90% completion which would be an insane feat given the games. I'd amaze myself if I can get half of them done to 100%, I'm not a perfect gamer by any means. The sad part of the thread is I'm only halfway through it, it takes a lot of typing as I try to be as descriptive as I can to help others.
LancashireLad87
I thought it would be a good idea to update my trophy progress once a month to see how far I've come since I created the original post. On September the 10th my overall completion rate was at a modest 62% since then I've earned a reasonable amount of trophies and I'm now at a 67.31% completion rate. I've made a lot of progress/headway in a number of games particularly Gran Turismo 5. I managed to finish off Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled which was a blast and I have just finished Batman Arkham Asylum! I originally had a target or a goal for the amount of trophies I wanted to earn in September 2020 which I set at 30 but I actually earned 57. My plan for October 2020 is to hopefully get closer or even reach a 70% completion rate which would be pretty sweet to hit and finish off Disgaea 3. I'm at 503 trophies so hopefully I can reach around 535 by the end of October 2020 but we will see. I would like to reach 50% trophies on a few games I have a bad percentage on like Wet and Wipeout HD, and possibly 70% Gran Turismo 5.
LancashireLad87
October is now behind us and I have made some good progress since my last update. I finished Disgaea 3 Absence of Justice which was an absolute blast. I reached my goal of 70% overall completion rate which is pretty sweet and I surpassed 50% trophies on Wipeout HD and hit 76% on Gran Turismo 5. I also started DMC5 and I'm currently 14 trophies earned out of 50 which is not great. As far as my 535 trophy goal was concerned I absolutely smashed that finishing October on 572 trophies out of 779 on my account. My goal for November is to reach 50% on DMC5, Wipeout 70% and hopefully 600 trophies!

Yes the games are very challenging, I started on Devil Hunter which I think is normal difficulty, just trying to find all the collectibles and secret missions before I have to go back and try and get an S Rank on all the missions for this difficulty which should be fun. Copanele
Nice promising profile ! Did not check it when you gave me advice about KoF XIII but now that I see...Ninja Gaiden nice! That's a game I wished I could play at its time. Also heard P4Arena is super tough. Ninja Gaiden is great but it's very difficult to find a partner online who can clear the hardest team missions. Persona 4 Arena I'm currently boosting the online so hopefully I can get that completed before the end of this month. Oh yeah, I'm enjoying DMC5, I should have the first playthrough finished tonight or tomorrow.

Good times The challenge I was good at was Behead the Undead Challenge 1 which was inside a building, if you went into any of the rooms or ventured outside where the ramp of the building is you would get a 3 second countdown, if the timer hit 0 then it would end your run. You had to use a shotgun with 2 rounds in it before you head to reload it. A headshot was worth 75 points, an arm was 25 but if you wanted to be stylish you can punch their head off for 100 points! I remember trying to get all of the platinum trophies on the challenges back in the day but there was a few I just couldn't do as a kid. The first that springs to mind is the challenge where you have to shoot the monkeys with a shotgun like skeet shooting monkeys, man such great memories of Timesplitters 2, the first game was really good as well. Absolute classic! I remember the challenge where you had to break all the windows in the starting area of Siberia with a Brick, such an enjoyable challenge and surprisingly very therapeutic. I have no idea how much time I sank into that game as a kid, it's definitely one of my most played games of all time. No other game has come close to T2 for a shooting game. They are quite close to completing a remaster I believe but I think it’s intended for PC only which would be a shame. Anyway good luck with your games I’ve only played GT5 and mirrors edge from your list and both were insanely difficult to 100%. GT5 was a gem though easily my favourite from the series tainted only by those god forsaken red bull challenges.

Yes I'm enjoying GT5 and Mirror's Edge, the latter I'm very bad at but I plan to improve when I eventually get back round to playing it. Oh yes, the red bull challenges are absolutely insane, but the satisfaction of completing them is pretty much unrivalled in gaming today which is a shame.
