I know this is the last thing you’d want to hear, but if the challenge isn’t complete and is stuck at 190/191 I would advise restarting the campaign and speeding through it before the shutdown. If you somehow have a previous hard save then reload it and check the statistics. Yeah, I guess so. I already completed an online required task "Dividend" and now the only way is to load a previous save (which I made, of course, a couple of) and start looting all scavenging locations again. Well, it sucks, obviously, but I don't have a choice ?

I was all the way into Deep Friah’s territory and the glitch happened, had to reload a save all the way back into Act 1. It was not fun. You do have time to go through it again though, check those statistics regularly and make separate saves after every act or so! You got this. RedHotChiliFan1
My Stats say I've got 23 Scavenging Locations completed and even my challenge says 5 /18. So I should be good, right? Is there anything else I need to worry about? So far I had many sound glitches and I already died over 10 times lol

Other than that just be sure to switch the autosave slot every couple hours and check to make sure the statistics page matches with the challenge totals for scavenging locations. If it's still fine, load it but immediately save in another slot so you don't lose that save if it glitches again There's a total of 227 locations and the challenges have the following tiers: 5 - 13 - 18 - 191 = 227 in total. So if the challenge says: 6/18 locations completed, you know you should have 5 + 13 + 6 = 24 locations according to your stats. If you have more in your stats, you have the glitch.
AJ_Radio
This makes me wonder about Just Cause 3 and Just Cause 4, developed by Avalanche Studios but were both published by Square Enix. In both cases, Mad Max and the Just Cause games all have online integration, meaning you need an online connection for the most part despite the games being mostly single player. It's definitely a trend that doesn't sit well with me because I had constant issues with Just Cause 3, kept getting booted out of the Square Enix servers so I just did all the online trophies and played the rest of the game completely offline. Solved the logging in and out problem. Just bought Just Cause 4 in a recent sale so I'll be seeing how the servers treat me on that game. Mad Max wasn't safe from the server shutdown, makes me wonder how Just Cause 3 will fare in the near future, seeing its servers are already messed up.
THE-73est
Is it too late if I start today? 9 days? How much scrap do you get a day. Mind you I have no idea what this game is even about apart from the Mad Max movies

If you can get Up to the Task done, you are good to go. Make several backup saves just in case. I got Mad Max done in just over a week, so you still have a few more days.

S_i_m_o_n_e_y
Just started today with two crews...Got 102 scraps after being 4,5h offline so for now my A Penny saved is 102/500. Hope that I will get it done after next 20 hours and then maybe I'll manage to add the third crew to increase the rate and get Dividend in time... Also, got 11 scavenging locations shown both in statistics and challenges so am I good for now? Apart from tracking progress of the locations and backing up the saves what else should I pay attention to not get glitched?

I saw somewhere that the bug is caused by dying shortly after getting a collectible, before the game can complete the auto-save. I never died soon after getting one and I didn't had any problem, just pay extra attention to cliffs and exploding barrels.

StealthID
Its 48hrs since I unlocked the first scavenger crew. I've subsequently gone and unlocked the second, third and fourth crews yesterday and I'm already 240/2000 in Dividend challenge. No need to panic and quite your job yet ?
MrManiacB
Yeah I think people still have time if they start now, as long as they unlock 4 scrap crews ASAP. Definitely almost at the point where it's not worth starting though.

Popular Post Guardian_owl
So to those wondering about joining the race to complete this late, as long as you can commit to at least 4-6 hours of gameplay in the next 24 hours, and then the ability to boot up the game every day or two, you should be fine. At this point you need to have 3 scrap crews running by the end of 10/24 to have a chance of making it. EDIT 10/25: At this point you would have to power through Act 1 and Act 2 and get all 4 scrap crews running by end of today,10/25 to make it. Do the story missions in the tutorial area Chumbucket. Head to Jeet, do story missions until you unlock the ability to do projects. Walk around the stronghold looking for transparent items, these are the various projects. A box that is a maggot farm, a giant tank that is an oil well, etc. What you are looking for is kind of like a dolly, this is the scrap crew project. Interacting with it will mark the scavenging locations on your map with a skull that have the parts required to complete the project. Visit the scavenging locations and look for a square, wide, and flat wooden box to destroy that contains the part. MAKE SURE NOT TO DIE DURING THE AUTO-SAVE WHEN PICKING UP SCRAP/HISTORICAL ARTIFACTS/PROJECT PARTS IN THE SCAVENGING LOCATIONS. While doing this, try to finishing some easy combat challenges so you can begin leveling up Max and his equipment. Return to the stronghold with all the parts and interact with the dolly to build the project. Once that's done, do the Lust for Powder mission in the far right corner of the map, that will let you build an armory in Jeet on the 2nd floor on the wall opposite the chief that refills your shotgun shells, shivs, sniper rounds, and thunderpoons whenever you visit. Having a reliable source of ammo will be very handy for hand to hand and car combat. Very soon you should get a story mission to go to the Gutgash Stronghold, go there immediately. Repeat selecting the dolly and collecting the scrap crew parts. Keep doing story missions until you unlock the mission to open The Jaw. If it doesn't appear, you may not have lowered the hostility enough in the territory to acquire the gear you need to proceed. Destroy scarecrows (freestanding, burning pillars that demonstrate the authority of Scrotus) and clear out camps to the lower hostility level. This will let you upgrade your car parts in the garage menu. An upgraded harpoon is required to open the Jaw, lower the hostility in Jeet to unlock harpoon upgrades. Once you are through The Jaw, complete the vantage point on the way to Pink Eye's stronghold so you will have a nearby fast travel point if you have to jump to Jeet or Gutgash to refill your ammo in case you waste too much ammo and fail repeling the invasion. Proceed to Pink Eye's stronghold and liberate it from the enemy invasion. Find the dolly leaning against the pillar in the center of the stronghold to locate the scrap crew parts. Once that is complete, carefully skirt the perimeter of the high level camp guarding the way to Deep Friah's territory, a small area at the top of the map. Find the dolly in the stronghold and head to the part for the scrap crew at one scavenging location. There are a lot of enemies so you may not be able to complete it until you have upgraded max considerably. Kill as many people as you can from the car before dismounting. Each scrap crew can mine about 144 in a 24 hour period, 6 per hour, but each can only hold a maximum of 500 at a time. So if you don't play for say a week the most you will have is 500 from each scrap crew, not 1,008. You have to complete 2 challenges: 1.)acquiring 500 scrap from scrap crews, and THEN 2.)2000 scrap from scrap crews. The progress for this does NOT overlap, so if you had say 100 scrap left to complete the 500 challenge, and then logged in after 12 hours collecting 288 scrap total from the 4 crews, you would complete the 500 challenge and then start the 2000 challenge from 0 instead of having credit for 188 of 2000. So figure out how many hours it will take to get to 500 scrap and try to play the game as close to that time as possible so that you can begin the 2000 challenge as fast as possible. 1 Scrap crew takes a little over 8 days to get 2000, 2 scrap crews take a little over 4 days, 3 scrap crews take a little under 3 days, and 4 scrap crews take a hair over 2 days. 1 Scrap crew takes a under 14 days to get 2000, 2 scrap crews take a little under 7 days, 3 scrap crews takes a little over 4.5 days, and 4 scrap crews take a little over 3.5 days. --- So to summarize, your goal is to get the first 2 scrap screws running as quickly as possible so that you can complete the 500 scrap challenge in a day or so At this point, you need 3 scrap crews running by end of 10/24 to make it. Use that time to complete story missions, complete easy challenges, clear camps, and destroy scarecrows to upgrade Max, his equipment, and his car. DO NOT DIE during the autosave after picking up loot at a scavenging location. Once you are upgraded enough, proceed through The Jaw and get the other 2 scrap crews running. Once you have completed the 500 scrap challenge and have all 4 scrap projects unlocked then you don't really have to do much of anything else. If you don't have time to play during the week, that's fine, just boot up the game again in about 50 hours. All 4 scrap crews will have the maximum of 500 scrap, the challenge for collecting 2000 scrap will complete, and you'll be set. You have 10 autosave slots so at this point save in one of the slots (I suggest the 10th) and NEVER overwrite it until you unlock the trophy Up to the Task (completing all non-repeating challenges). That way if a scavenging location glitches in the interim, you have a back-up point. So if you have the time to binge through at least completing the first 2 scrap screws (4-6 hours) in the next 24 hours, then you should be fine, At this point, you need 3 scrap crews running by end of 10/24 to make it. As long as you don't waste scrap collected by scrap crew by collecting much more than 500 before completing the 500 challenge, or not playing more than 50 hours in a row. mekktor
Great guide for anybody thinking about starting the game still, but about this: 6 hours ago, Guardian_owl said: 1 Scrap crew takes a little over 8 days to get 2000, 2 scrap crews take a little over 4 days, 3 scrap crews take a little under 3 days, and 4 scrap crews take a hair over 2 days. What maths did you use here? I was under the impression you got 1 scrap from each crew every 10 minutes (6 scrap/crew/hour). I checked this myself once and got 9 scrap after ~90 minutes. This would put it at around 3.5 days for 4 crews to get 2000 scrap.
