Trophy Guide (Unformatted, but posted in thread. Feel free to take and upload, if you can format)

Recommended Posts

Hey, I'm working on the Trophy Guide for this game!
I'd like some help from any players that have played it, especially as the game is currently getting reworked so I'd like the guide to be as accurate as possible right now until it needs updating. HMU with any info about the Trophies that you know, such as things that don't count to progress or tips I can add.
EDIT: Due to the current delay with 1.5 getting approved, I'll be waiting to re-format the draft guide until I can test out my trophy grinding methods on that update. I've done so on PC, but I need to be sure on PS4. Until then, I will be uploading the current draft guide onto Google Docs so that people can view the current 1.4 Trophy Guide entries.

I have read that for You Cannot Pass (Use Gandalf 100 times to defeat a Boss), you have to kill the boss with an attack, NOT the 3 damage option you get from playing Gandalf.

Also, Pacifist is very easy to get from one of the tutorials, and very hard otherwise (as far as I could tell).

Thanks, I'll be sure to make it known that it's confirmed that doesn't count towards progress. The guide is still in the unpublished draft phase, so I'm open to all input ?

Any news on the guide?

Is there a chance this game, through updates, will be 100% offline?

I'm currently having to resolve some formatting issues with the guide, to make it more suitable to PSNProfile Standards.

And yes, this game will have Offline Single Player by the end of November at the absolute latest (Antihero Studios is sorting out platform approval for the update that's coming to PC this Friday.) Meaning, all Trophies will be achievable even after the Co-op servers go down.

BTW, you can find out info about this game on the ACG Discord, https://discord.gg/dBFXwcp, or the Subreddit, https://www.reddit.com/r/lotrACG/.

Game is on sale! Any news?

The last update I could find on Steam is from 15-Oct and states:

Release Note 1: Console Parity

The new update will be live on Steam tomorrow but will not be submitted to consoles for approval until 10/23. Therefore, until the console versions are approved by their individual platforms and released, cross-play between Steam players and console players will be unavailable until parity is restored (TBD early November).

Best case scenario, it's just taking longer than expected to certify on console; worst case they decided the return on investment just wasn't there and will focus purely on PC. The further we get from "early November" the more likely it is that the worst case scenario has come to pass.

EDIT: Just found a more recent Tweet: "The new @lotracg content has been released from Antihero to consoles for approval! A step closer for you console players to get version 1.5 which includes new UI, single player offline capability, and Adventure Mode!" So it sounds like console submission was delayed by a couple of weeks. Guess it's too early to be pessimistic just yet.

Sorry for a late response! The PS5/XBS release has caused last gen updates to receive lower update approval priority for those platforms. That, in combination with the update gap, has caused the review that was sent on November 5th to still be in approval from either/both Sony and Microsoft. The Devs at Antihero wish for the update to be rolled out on all console platforms together, so until that is resolved it's still in waiting. Once the update rolls out, there will be several QoL improvements for console players looking to earn the Platinum.
-New Multi Location Quest, Fords of Isen
-New Cards that make No Ally quests far easier
-Offline Mode support
-Co-op fixes that take into account the platform specific issues (Quests with multiple choices no longer lock your controls)
-New MoG content, to allow quicker Quest grinding and more fun random Bosses

The Trophy Guide itself will need updating, which I will do after the update rolls out. I'd advise picking the game up right now, while it's at the lowest price in release history! Also, I'll be sure to drop a huge thread/post when the update rolls out.

For some Behind the Scenes as to why this Review for the update was sent later to Consoles:
Adventure 1 and 1.5 had several bugs and issues that were revealed on a Day Zero Beta Test, right before public release. These were deemed "Below Standards" and the mode was shelved for a week+ while 1.5 was rolled out on PC. They also delayed the Console Build until they had a fully working Adventure Mode and 1.5 to put into it, with several fixes, since they new the ETA on approval would be long. If 1.5 was put on consoles on October  23, it would have been a bad experience and multiple patches would need to be approved for the platform. Since the 5th of November, the Review Sending Date, the Devs have held off on any further PC updates until the other Platforms get 1.5, while working on the next content Adventure 2/Campaign 4.
The Devs have been transparent about this on their Discord, but they're limited in what social media stuff they can do on Steam (due to Asmodee needing to approve all news updates and the store page pending a full rework)
I hope this covers a lot of what you wanted to know. Having played 1.5 on PC, it's a fantastic improvement of the game. I'm hoping it gets approved soon, might resort to sending some DMs to find out why Sony/Microsoft are slacking :P

While waiting for the update (afaik the blame on MS's side), I've been playing the game regularly with a good friend in coop. Any tips one certain trophies? The Gandalf - 100 villains seem to be a pain. In theory, the Ungoliant map should be the best as you start the first scenario with 3 bosses. Question: if I fail the quest, does the kills there still count for the progress? I.e. just spamming the first map with the 3 bosses / villains and purposely let myself defeated. If it would, that would be awesome.

Gandalf kills are not based on quest completion, this is confirmed. You can indeed simply kill the 3 Spiders with Gandalf then restart the quest, or you can progress to complete the quest to then kill the Villain in the last Location (3). I advise using Lore in combo with Spirit for Gandalf.
I'll give you my current entry for that trophy, my guide is in need of reformatting after 1.5 is released, then it'll be able to be published after I clean it up:
"To get this Trophy, you need to defeat 100 Villains with the Gandalf Ally Neutral card. Now, there's several things to consider:
- Is what I am defeating a Villain?
Villains are distinguished visually by silver wings on their playing field icon, similar to the gold wings your Hero cards have. They are often Quest related objectives (Defeat to proceed). Sauron's Gallery also has an Enemy Type filter for them. They will not attack a Guarding Character if it will defeat them (This can sometimes not be the case if a unit has Counter or a conditional damage buff upon being attacked.)
- Gandalf is fleeting, how can I defeat more than 1 Villain with him?
There's a Fellowship Set card called Narya, it's a Unique Special Attachment card that Gandalf and other Istar units can use. This negates Fleeting, while Gandalf has it equipped. After this, make sure Gandalf stays alive. (Block attachments, using Guard on other characters, Restore/Gain Health cards and using your Heroes to tank damage.)
- A Villain is in play, but I haven't played Gandalf yet, what do I do?
You can stall Villains by using Guard, which stops them attacking if they're not Ranged or Stealth. Do this until you draw Gandalf (And Narya if you're using it to keep him in play) and have enough Resources to play him. Remember though, Counter damage is not considered when a Villain calculates if an attack would kill it, so make sure it can survive the Counter damage if it does attack.
- Gandalf can deal 3 damage on Arrival, will this count towards progress?
This isn't confirmed, but it's confirmed this counts as a form of dealing non-unit damage to an Enemy. That means it may be similar to a damage dealing Event card, which wouldn't count as Gandalf defeating them. For the sake of progressing in this 100 progress grind, stick to dealing the finishing blow with Gandalf's direct attack action.
- Villains are always spawned in Mirror of Galadriel, why not use this Quest to get both this and Istari quickly?
Because it's a single Villain per Quest in that case. MoG is also randomized, so you have no real control over what deck you're going against. There's also no Travel Locations, which are another major grind objective to reach, so you'll be minimizing your Trophy Progress.
With that out of the way, your best bet for getting this Trophy is Campaign 1 Quest 2, on Narrative. Make sure Gandalf is in your deck, including Narya (You will need this as there's more than 1 Villain in this Quest), and try to make sure you have a way to either heal Gandalf or attachments to make him more effective. (Dagger of Westernesse in particular.)
This Trophy is not based on a per Quest basis, it's gained for each Villain defeated during sessions. You do not need to finish a Quest for the progress of that defeated Villain to count, so it can be unlocked mid-Quest."

Until my Guide is able to be edited for 1.5 on PS4, I'll be happy to post any Trophy Guide entries I have yet to publish. Please feel free to send me any requests regarding it!

Thanks a lot for the detailed answer, much appreciated :)

I spent weeks on the draft for the trophy guide, so I'm glad to provide any trophy advice you want.
I've also been playing the PC version while waiting for 1.5 on PS4, so I've used Steam Tracking to identify several quicker ways to grind trophies, especially with what 1.5 is going to introduce with Fords of Isen:
A quest with 10+ location travels, meaning you can speedrun grind the 5000 travel trophy
High health enemies you can deal massive damage to
Tons of resources to spend during the quest
Some rewards for the quest that make several trophies way easier
New QoL improvements that make MoG more quicker to grind
Co-op fixes that will make full co-op playthroughs of all campaigns possible on console
New Save System, which allows for quick location reloading even if you get defeated
New Co-op system that allows quick room finding
UI that makes Quest Grinding much faster as well as location grinding.
Due to Offline Support, loading and gameplay is no longer tied to your connection/server status, meaning you'll never have delays in actions or worrying about location reloading due to not acting for a long time.
Also, these trophies will no longer be "timed" by server shutdown in future. So this Platinum will never be impossible!

Thanks for the info!

If this game becomes offline-only, I'll surely buy it.

Yup, it's confirmed to be Online Optional with 1.5's update! There's sadly no confirmed roll out date due to an issue with the platform approval for the update build (sent on November 5th) for one of the other platforms, but it's estimated to be confirmed soon. I'd recommend picking the game up during the sale, just to make sure you don't miss this low price. You're also getting all of the previously paid content as well as the new 1.5 content for free, this game only has progression gated content that isn't difficulty gated. No Microtransactions or RNG Card packs at all anymore, despite the outdated screenshots on the store page.

That raises a good point though, which I'll mention:
If you've been playing the game on 1.4 before this Update rolls out, you'll need to connect online ONCE when you boot the game up with 1.5 to synch your 1.4 progress onto your new 1.5 profile. This requires an online connection to access the 1.4 data, after which you'll no longer need an online connection from then on to play the game. Online will only be used when playing Co-op in 1.5. Cross-Platform Co-op with PC+Mac players will be restored with this update.

Saw the exciting news about the new update - hope it will be up in the coming few days.

@Twiton Any pointers how can I unlock the Sword that was Broken? I should "Take 8 actions with Leadership Aragorn in 1 round", but can't find the right deck / quest for it. I tried with a Leadership / Lore hybrid deck (Aragorn, Arwen, Dis), putting in as many cards I can that ready exhausted characters (Ever Vigilant, Lembas, Escort from Edoras, Cram), but it requires way too much setup to ready Aragorn 8 times in one turn. I would appreciate any tips.

Also, it seems that I can't unlock Hero Award in Quest 5 of the Tutorial campaign (at least I didn't get Elf-magic after recovering 8 different trait allies with Rossiel). Is it a bug or is it intended to be like this?

Here's some Streams covering those rewards:
Aragorn: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tVPX-TYXpWs

Rossiel and Aragorn (CONTAINS FORDS OF ISEN REWARD SPOILERS)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ySeLgv_XjXQ

My advice:
Don't go for 2 Leadership, grab Spirit Lore Leadership. Spirit has a 0 cost ready card, that in combination with Study The Scrolls and Star Brooch will make things go fast :D
Tutorial Quest 5 might be bugged, I do believe some people had issues with it when grinding the Hero Award Progress, so I'd advise C1Q1 instead.

Is the trophy-guide going to be released in the next days since the new version is finally online?

In the meantime I got some Questions?

What is the best/fastest way to boost the creature and spider kills? Is there a similar way to the "Barracks Door" objective in c2q4, which spawns an infinite amount of orcs with low health and attack ?

Is the following strategy possible:
1:purposely waiting until the thread meter hits 47 while playing a lot of allies/ use a lot of equipment

2:travel to the next location
3:deal tons of damage/kill all enemies except 1

4: wait until the threat meter hits 50 and you fail

5: continue the quest and go back to step 3

Does this work or are the kills etc only saved when you travel ?

Not sure how far along OP is with this, but I can say with certainty that the guide review times are pretty long at the moment. I have one that's been in queue for close to 3 weeks now, so unless he submitted it a while ago I don't think you will see one anytime soon I'm sorry to say. This isn't meant to be a complaint in that regard, as those folks do that completely voluntarily and do a hell of a job at that, I just wanted you to know! Otherwise I've never played this game therefore have no other helpful info for you.

I'm reformatting it and adjusting it for 1.5 (2.00)'s new strats and content.
1. Yes, especially with the new cards from Fords of Isen and Spirit.
2. Travel does not defeat minions.
3. Yes, that can work especially on locations like Shadow Arsenal and C2Q2
4. Defeats are registered as they happen, so you can indeed fail quests and still get trophy progress. This only causes an issue if you're trying to grind hero awards.
5. you can entirely restart a quest or back out to the Main Menu to reload a location with high damage values. You don't need to fully complete the quests.

In regards to Creatures, I've found C1Q3 has a ton of creatures if you take Smeagol with you. For Orcs, you can do C2Q4 and Gundabad too.
For Spiders, you can grind C1Q2's final location if you keep Shelob alive.

The guide was entirely written up but wasn't in proper PSN Profile Formatting standards. Now I'm working on reformatting it and putting in the new details that the new content allows you to get quickly. And yes, this game is up in the 300 hours of getting a plat. The devs have discussed possible ways in future to help PS players with this fact. Specifically with a stats menu or tying it to the Reward Tracker in a future Quarter Update on the Roadmap.

Yes. This is confirmed on the Steam Version.

I'll put you in as an editor so you can view it. It needs reformatting and updating with the new 1.5 content so it's still drafting.
