First of all lets just get this outta the way that if you got a phat PS4, Don't even think about touching this game. This game was not designed to be played on a phat PS4 and I think you should just avoid it if you got one. The performance on Pro was better but still, The frame drops especially in combat when there are a lot of people around you is just pure cancer. I wouldn't recommend this game to anyone. There is no such thing as a "phat" ps4.... There is just a regular version.. A pro and a slim.
zizimonster
The game received an update in March 2021. Does it run as terrible as Control on PS4?
Creasy007
How is it on PS5? I was hoping to pick it up while it's on sale but don't want to waste my time or money if it runs like trash.

I don't know about Control, but Crysis runs very poorly on PS4. It makes the somewhat aged controls feel a lot worse due to the low framerate. It's playable... just not enjoyable. The 60 fps make a world of difference. It's still an old game with a few shortcomings (that for the most part aren't new to this port) but I actually enjoyed playing it. Just be sure to play on performance mode, turn off motion blur and crank up thumbstick sensitivity for maximum smoothness and responsiveness. It’s ok, playable, but it has its level of ‘Skyrim’ type bugs! Enemies appearing out of know where or standing in mid air, getting stuck when nothings near etc, but otherwise it plays fine. Crashed once so far i have to add the 3/10 on the guide is also misguided. Top difficulty is by no means a breeze, easy compared to other FPS’ but still not a

Well, those games were released 12 years apart, and Control has a lotta fancy effects going on, making it a lot more forgivable. But yeah, a friend advised me to wait and play Control on PS5. I'll get to with... eventually.

Top difficulty is by no means a breeze, easy compared to other FPS’ but still not a 3 I remember beating it on Delta way back when it first came to consoles and remember it only being tough until I realized it's best to dodge most fights, go stealth and run, run, run. I do remember some of the late game missions being insanely tough, though, but wondering if they wouldn't be a bit easier now after even more years of FPS gaming. I'm itching to return to it, but any major bugs/glitches do put me off of the idea.
dieselmanchild
I am not a graphics person or tech snob and tend to have a very high tolerance for games that run poorly. But even I was appalled at how bad Crysis was! I just played this recently and agree 100%, it runs awful on PS4. It’s really janky to begin with, the enemy AI is broken, and the controls, movement, and aiming were very clunky and took some getting used to. But on top of that the frame rate dips were terrible and the game is littered with bugs and issues that made it very frustrating to play, especially on the hardest difficulty. I’ve heard Crysis 2 and 3 are much improved though so I’m holding out hope that the next game won’t be such a crapshoot.

Haven’t struggled since so fingers crossed (just disabled the AA guns and got the tank) Game was a huge learning curve personally, haven’t never played them so I’m glad it’s on PS5 after hearing how bad it’s performance is on PS4
