Introduction

I am a proud work-from-home father of two who has recently entered his 30's. My whole life I have been very organized and lately have picked up actively trophy hunting whereas before I made it a rare, often casual affair. This checklist is an attempt to catalog everything I own and have on offer at any point on my current Playstation account. I have been a user of PSNProfiles for quite some time, but only recently have I started enveloping myself in the community. I just want to share my collection and the games I have on offer as a hilarious attempt at salvaging a sense of pride and accomplishment in my progress and acquisitions. I am happy to discuss my experiences with the games I own and have played and am willing to take recommendations on what I should shoot for next. I will be keeping this checklist up to date as often as I possibly can and I am excited to share what my work and time have amounted to in the realm of Playstation gaming.

Well organized indeed.  If you're actively trophy hunting now, and have some tolerance for grinding, don't completely ignore old Friday the 13th.  Very time consuming, but a game designed for boosting.

Online play has never really been my thing. I got the game through PS Plus because my wife wanted to play it.

Runescape and World of Warcraft scarred the way I look at online gaming. Sunk thousands of hours into both, but these days I can't play online for too many games without throwing a fit because I generally hate people.

I didn't use photoshop. I used a website called canva.com then used a snipping tool so I didn't have to actually pay them to download the image.

 

I used to play League of Legends and Smite a lot, and I played Apex Legends for a bit but that was about it. I never liked online play and usually don't get games with online trophies for that very reason.

I'm aware there are plenty of other programs, but Photoshop is generally the most popular. Most websites overcharge for their photos, so not a big surprise there.

League of Legends and DOTA 2 are cancer. Tried them for a few weeks before I rage quit. Too many sad sons of bitches who whined every time they lost. MOBAs are some of the worst breeding grounds for hate.

 

Anything that focuses on battleground play (Overwatch, Fortnite), developing teams (Destiny, Destiny 2) or is a ridiculous grind (Friday the 13th, Orcs Must Die Unchained), I AM OUT.

 

I don't mind some online, I did all the online for Driveclub and Driveclub Bikes before the servers shut, and just finished the online for Tekken 6, don't bother asking me why I picked up the game so late in it's lifespan. But when it's grindy and requires very good coordination, I start to have problems.

 

Red Dead Redemption and Assassin's Creed Brotherhood remain unfinished for that very reason. I just don't like tolerating with that crap.

I totally get it with how so many games are nowadays. Why slog your way through a game past the point of it being fun when you can enjoy something else and move on?

Partly because I am a completionist.

 

Ratchet and Clank: A Crack in Time is enjoyable. Just watch out for My Blaster Runs Hot, that's a mini-game that you could be spending a bunch of time on.

I am too which makes it hard for some games already on my list. Ratchet and Clank was hidden for 4 years on my profile and I just recently booted my PS3 back up after all that time to go back and take on some of these low percentages plaguing my profile.

It's not as bad as people think it is. Just make sure not to let the enemies get too close to you. Basically a matter of trying over and over until you get it. Easy platinum, it's just that one trophy that makes it a little bit tough.

About to hit the 60 plat milestone once I finish up Deponia Doomsday (#59). What game should I go for is the question. I want to play something that is fun and not too hard but not so easy it's a gimmie. I have a large pick and just bought Gravity Rush 1 and 2 so now I'm wondering where to go with my backlog.

Gravity Rush is a great game and the first one is pretty quick (20-25 hours?). You have a pretty decent backlog of games, maybe some Resident Evil to get in the mood for Halloween? I'm going to be playing 7 here real soon.

 

That being said and I hate to be a bummer, but there is no milestone on this site for platinum #60 (if that is what you are referring to), it jumps to #75 after 50.

Further down the line when I get my PS3 backlog cataloged I plan to include personal milestones on this page. I love this site but I feel its milestone selections could be a bit broader.

Oh I would love to go back and get Bloodborne. My only issue with that is I have stopped playing the soulsborne games as of late due to time management and my inability to properly pause them. I do plan to get back on them possibly next year when my children are both in school. You gave me a good idea though as far as roadmapping a plan for completion over the course of the next year. I think I'll work on something like that to have for 2021.

Keep me posted! I love talking about the soulsborne games with people. I never platted any of them but DS3 mostly because I like to have a reason to go back and play them again. There was even a time I didn't earn trophies for months because I kept playing through these games and getting too distracted or being too lazy to keep pushing on past beating them to earn all the New Game + and beyond trophies.

I really do like the Souls games, but you might not see that with my account. I have an issue trying to play through NG+ with them and for some reason the Dark Souls games didn't quite grab me the way the others have, except for Dark Souls 2 for some reason as I played through that twice on PC. I think DS3 was just bad timing as there were other games I was more interested in during the time and haven't gone back to. Demon Souls and Dark Souls I played on PS3 and I think it was back when I was too much of a noob. I do plan to go back and play those, especially Demon Souls, unless I just wait for the remaster. I do remember when playing Dark Souls on PS3, that part where you get to the cliffside village really bogged down my PS3, as I have the original fat PS3. Not sure what happened with Dark Souls 3, but it was probably because I moved in with my GF shortly before and she was not excited about watching a first playthrough of a souls game when I'm trying to relearn it and do a bunch of grinding (not to mention yelling at the enemies or myself for something stupid, like rolling off a cliff).

 

Bloodborne was by far my favorite from the setting and atmosphere. The combat was also a lot more fluid and fun. Sekiro probably has the best combat out of all of them and I beat it the "long" way (man that last boss took some practice). Sekiro also was apparently more fun to watch, even with the constant deaths. It just felt so good when you get a clean boss kill and parrying is on point.

 

You can spend hundreds of hours with each of them, but as I mentioned before, it comes down to time management for some games for me. 80% of trophies in Souls games can by obtained in 1 playthrough then it's slow going after that usually doing 2 more play throughs. My backlog is too big and my time is too little unfortunately.

Dark Souls 3 is my favorite of all of the games and so it was the first I went out of my way to platinum. I platinumed Demon's Souls on an old account back in 2012. I'm really drawn to games where I can play as a female. I'll likely get around to it at some point but for those dumb reasons its low on my list. I like Bloodborne less than DS3 and DS2:SOTFS and more than Dark Souls 1 and Demon's Souls, though I do love the lore and aesthetic of the game (Lady Maria is one of my favorite bosses of all time.)

I never used the magic much in the souls games or the tools in bloodborne so I just focused on raw combat abilities. What type of build did you use in the Souls games? I'm curious about trying out a more magic oriented build next time and curious if it's effective throughout the game.

It's usually more challenging to do magic early on, and a lot more rewarding to do it late game as there are some builds that can one shot. I've tried in DS3 Pyromancy builds, as fire wrecks most areas of the game, though you will want to have black fire magic when used in the Demon Ruins. Miracle Paladin builds where you run blessed equipment and regen rings and talismans to maximize an op amount of health regen constantly while tanking hits and dealing hefty damage. In DS2 all of the magic spells are pretty powerful even early on if you're into a bit more passive early game spell spamming. That game is the best for it cause you don't use mana you use spell slots. DS3 has great Bleed and Hollow builds as well where you can just deal tons of damage out of nowhere.

 

In DS1, sorcery in my opinion is okay and usually works very well in a pinch against most enemies so a battlemage hybrid is pretty fun, focusing on infusing your weapon and using long-range spells to single out enemies and poke bosses down.

 

In DS2, Hexes all the way. There is a way to get very op very early on. I used this guide and had a lot of fun running through the game with it. 

 

 

DS3, I honestly felt everything but offensive miracles were viable with a lot of flexibility for playstyles, though pyromancer and battlemage were my go to choices.

11 platinums in the month of April is unprecedented for me, even when discounting the three easy platinums of the space shooter three pack with Null Drifter, Red Death, and Project Starship. Will likely take a break from so many platinums to focus on my new arrival, Nier Replicant. Platinumed this game back in the day on an old account and plan to do so again with the new game.
