What would be your order of platinum difficulty ratings for all Yakuza games?

The remastered collection is on sale right now, and I want to buy it, but I might never get around to playing it, depending on how I feel after finishing the first 3 games. Yakuza 0's 100% list has sucked the joy out of playing the game.

I found the ratings on the trophy guides to be mostly accurate. For me, Y3, Y0, Y1, Y5, Y: LAD, Y2, Y4, Y6

The first 3 are the only ones I found challenging. The others were mostly just time consuming with some of them having 100% completion requirements.

Aside from Yakuza 0, I think Yakuza 3 is the best one. So it would be a shame if you skipped it. Best soundtrack too.

Having said that it was the first Yakuza I played so I am kinda biased.

I could never finish the two final climax battles on Yakuza 3, defending the guy in his underwear. Could never do that one.

Personally, I think Y3 is one of the "weakest" yakuza, besides Y4 and Y1 (kiwami enhanced that game quite a bit)

You're not alone in that view as most of the gaming press seems to concur with you. First one I played so it will always have a special place in my heart. 4 and 5 were less good for me as apart from Akiyama in 4 & 5 I found some of the other protagonists far less engaging then Kiryu. That said I really do like them all so a weaker Yakuza game is still a good game compared to most others.

I'd love to see, and would instantly pre-order a Kiwami 3, 4 & 5. Hopefully one day along with western releases of Kenzan and Ishin.

I bought the remastered collection ?

If Y0 is one of the hardest platinum, then I think I can get through the series. Maybe platinum them all eventually. I did see a story quality drop from Y0 to Y1. Hopefully it picks up. Y0 main story was amazing, so it would be hard to top that.

It is definitely a tough plat. Not because of individual requirements alone but because of the sheer amount of stuff you have to be good at. Once you finally got all Completion Points for a minigame you have to dive into another one. It barely feels rewarding, cause there is always the next one waiting for you. And some are just annoying or weirdly presented. Dancing for example took me some time because it was hard to see where to go next. The background kinda blands in with the grid and on hard the ability to see everything in time is just hard.

Y0 is the longest and hardest plat, yes, but don't expect to breeze through other titles, because they are all 100 hours minimum games. Y3 is also very hard in terms of mini games. Kiwami 1 has ridiculously hard karaoke game, but there's a glitch that allows you to avoid it.

Let's be honest, if not those damn mini games, those would be 20 hours platinums max. And it's everytime the same thing, like mahjong, batting, karaoke or those jap card games.

I hate the batting minigame. It's the worst one for me. On the other hand, I really enjoy mahjong and I'm even playing the ranked games just for fun :D Is the batting game harder in the next games than in 0 and Kiwami (those are the only 2 I played so far)?

There is an easy way go get through batting in almost every yakuza game. Don't look at the baseball, look at Kiryu he is swinging with the bat and when he stops swinging the bat that's the time you have to press x.

When it comes to Yakuza Guides look up at the guides of CyricZ on Gamefaqs. He is helping out and giving tips on every mission, side mission and so on.

Batting is actually pretty easy, you just need to watch the bat and wait until Kiyru holds it still, then press the button to swing. Once you get that timing down, it's a walk in the park. Completely ignore the ball and just focus on the bat.

All that is left for me is climax battles and legend difficulty. I'm more worried that I will have to replay those boring real estate mini game to unlock legend style (or at least normal styles). Is it necessary for legend diff to do it?

I will never understand why they removed NG+ for Legend, when it was available in the rest of the series... I swear, SEGA sometimes is just going full retard mode.

Took me about 10 hours to get through my legend run and mostly found it pretty easy, I just made sure I got the zap gun as soon as possible and stayed stocked up on health items although I didn't even need to use that many, I mainly used this guide for tips

I had no idea how overpowered breaker and beast style could be on my first playthrough, breaker especially makes Majima's side of the game a joke

No, you can basically speedrun the whole game. Just head to Bob the clown at the shrine right at the beginning of the game to get the bonus items like different plates which can be sold for quite a big amount of cash. Level up your different styles and always have your item slots filled with healing items. There is no need to max out your styles though. Save regularly, since there will be no retry option and that's pretty much it. :)

I am on Y0 and have no way of doing the telephone club. Could be my controller but can't even charge the shot using right thumbstick.

Would really appreciate some specific advice.

You need make a round move with right stick, going from 1 to 9 to charge it and hold it. Release it as specific text and that's all..

Not working for me for some reason. I've been messing around with the right stick to no end. Trying all combos. I have 2 controllers - granted both are slightly wonky but I cant believe that the little bit of difference would render the whole game unplayable?!

Finally got the plat for this game. Rage inducing in many areas:

- Majima escort and Kiryu car chase on legend

- Ogita

- Fantasy Zone / Outrun

- Baseball

- grinding for equipment, weapons and accessories

- Some Climax battles. Esp millionaire 2(damn that narrow alley) and ultimate 2(sera)

- and of course, easily the worst, god damn phone club. had to get a new controller just for this minigame
