I got one more game done (well 30 seconds from done). Waiting to pop the plat for a bday plat rain day coming up, but all I have left for Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate is to open the last crate and two trophies and the plat will pop. All I have left for Battle Vs Chess is the stalemate trophy. Not sure I'll make much progress in March...I plan on playing Mass Effect: Andromeda to finish up that series. I'm assuming it'll take me most of the month...but we'll see if I have time for something else. After ME: A though, I'll be doing a Dragon Age run through so I'll make some good progress then!

Was too embarrassed to post a January update since I had not really turned on my PS3. I started my decent into Dragon Age Inquisition (PS4) which soaked up a ton of time.

 

I have made some progress now, but I also made by backlog longer in the process. 

 

So lets see:

Let's start with "bad" news. New additions to my backlog are Remember Me, Generator Rex, and Dragon Age Origins . The Ultimate Edition was pretty cheap, so I jumped on it.  Could not help myself after Inquisition. That game alone has a 100% which equals the entire Owned or PSNOW sections of my backlog in length. 

 

I am also eliminating Adventure Time: The Secret of the Nameless Kingdom. Turns out I own the Vita version and not the PS3 version. Oopsie.

 

I managed to beat Remember Me. Stylish, well conceived game, if mechanically inferior to its predecessors like God of War. I also took care of Megamind and Monster Jam: Battlegrounds. Needed some palate cleansers which required no brain activity. They were perfect.

The platforming and combat are both choppy. The camera and collision detection are weak which leads to some seriously cheap falls. The combat is combo and dodge based. It works fine, but shows its rigidity since the platinum required the game be completed in the hardest difficulty. 

 

The action RPGs you mentioned have a fluidity to the combat that is not present in Remember Me.

 

I can recommend the game on its story and style. For a linear, action platformer, it has a pretty good story. It is also somewhat short.

I think people saw screenshots of the game, saw it was published by Capcom, and were expecting a spectacle fighter like Devil May Cry. I'd say the combat in Remember Me gets the job done, but is nothing spectacular. But the story is neat, the music is good, and the memory rewrite sections (of which there are far too few) play out kinda like the puzzles in Ghost Trick, if you've ever played that Nintendo DS game.

@Gethron and @blu3st4rdust305 thanks for the details.  Sounds like the best thing would be to remove it from my list.  One of my biggest dislikes for God of War is exactly what you're describing with the choppy platforming.  I know I'm too picky when it comes to action RPGs and it's probably best to avoid something that has a high chance of pissing me off instead of being fun.

Split/Second (gave up on this earlier to to a super hard trophy, beat the team 2.
Ratchet & Clank all 4 one (left this untouched cuz i had to do a lot of grinding and multiplayer)

I finished 2 more games: Dragon Age: Origins and Zombie Driver HD.

DAO was wrapped up early this week but I only had a little bit left of ZD HD so I thought I'd wait with the update till that one was done too.

 

 

 

While DAO definitely shows its age it was still great. Overall I think I played it close to 200 hours or maybe even more.

I did one very thorough, semi-blind run (no story spoilers) and a loose second one for clean-up.

Plus all the DLCs and every race/class origin story (it was nice to see how some of the stories connect).

I went with the human rogue as my main and it turned out to be a great choice later for the DLCs.

There were a couple of bugs here and there like dialogs not being voiced but that hardly takes away from the experience.

I think I'm ready to jump in to Dragon Age II real soon. a while back I read it's a bit different and so is the combat system I think that some people didn't like.

I want to get the DLCs too for DA2.

 

 

 

I came away from Zombie Driver HD with mixed feelings.

The game has 3 modes: Story, Blood Race and Slaughter.

Story mode was cool, although the "story" is forgettable but gameplay is quite fun.

Missions only take a few minutes, you can just pick up and play. Only the last mission gave me a bit of trouble.

Blood Race is multiple tournaments of race, endurance and elimination events.

This mode was a kind of a pain. I got stuck in objects too many times either due to loose handling or AI opponents pushing me into them.

Luckily the events can be replayed before moving on to the next without losing progress in the tournament.

Slaughter was kind of fun and mostly very easy. It's about surviving waves as long as you can and racking up combos for a high score.

Performance-wise the game hard froze on me in Blood Race and Slaughter modes every time I started an event. I had to play them while signed out.

I don't know if it's related to the recent PSN troubles, a bad install or a bug in the game. These modes have leaderboards.

I have the free upgrade for the PS4 version but it remains to be seen if I'll double dip sometime in the distant future.

 

 

I'm going to take a break from my PS3 games now I think. Two Point Hospital just dropped some DLCs that I want to check out this weekend. After that my next game will be Resident Evil 6 (no DLC). I didn't like the demo at all and what I heard about the game, but a couple of years ago I found a brand new copy for $10 so I thought why not as a RE fan. The game was still wrapped till yesterday. Most likely I'll be able to finish it before the end of the month. Then I'll probably fire up Dragon Age II, we'll see.

I started Lego Indiana Jones 2: The Adventure Continues a few days ago, it's the 2nd game i chose on PS NOW and i completed 2 hubs so far. It's nice to play as Indiana Jones but man why is it based mostly on the worst movie?

Just a quick update.  I'm in the process of moving so my strategy guide is currently in a box but in the beginning of April I'll be starting Epic Mickey 2.  I put some time into Dyad but it's about as hard as I remember.

Update #3

Another update, another Mass Effect game completed. After giving up on my insanity run on the 360 a decade ago, I finally managed to 100% Mass Effect 2. I earned all but the insanity trophy playing casually, and then started the game over with a sneaky femShep Sentinel. Playing cautiously and upgrading my sniper to one-shot enemies felt great, especially because I never play as a sniper. I usually shy away from difficulty-based trophies, but playing on insanity was a totally new experience for a game I’ve played through at least five times. After all these years eyeing the platinum, I finally earned it. And I’m really happy I did. Up next: Ending the reaper threat once and for all in Mass Effect 3.

I've already started working on my PS3 backlog this year. It's gotten ridiculously long in my own opinion, so many games I started but never finished or bought but never played. Update #4 (Or a late February update) 

 

I planned on getting the Heavy Rain plat on February but turns out the third-party controller I bought didn't have the motion sensor so couldn't progress much and was stuck at like 4%. Finally, a few days ago, a friend lend me his controller and I could advance more, so hopefully by the end of march I have already gotten the plat. Also, got some progress in Minecraft, bought Dark Souls (even though it is stuck in the US until my aunt comes to where I live) and the Ultimate Bundle for Sound Shapes, so gonnat get 2 easy plat too .

Let's do a little bit of update...

Right now I'm playing Resident Evil 6. It started out real slow. I was only able to finish Leon's story so far. Partly because Two Point Hospital DLCs has sucked me (back) in, I am done with them for now but a fix for the broken trophies I got left to get still is coming next week. So I guess I'm spending my weekend with RE6.

 

On overall progression, I just had a bit of a setback. Since last time, I did some (re)organizing and I went over my personal checklist and found that I had 2 games that I never added. 2 PS3 games anyway, I had about 6-7 games that weren't cataloged. Anyway I'm adding them here now, the games are Need for Speed: Shift and The Saboteur.

Talk about taking one step forward, two steps back, am I right?

Well, no plat yet.  But I finished Ventus' route on critical and started Terra's.  I'm doing Aqua in the middle since I find her easier than Terra.  It wasn't was hard on critical as I expected but I did over-level with EXP Walker and, I mean, I've played a lot of Kingdom Hearts at this point.

Overall...I'll say that my attempt to get things done by November will be a big fat failure but oh well...

That makes about 34 42 games that have at least some intention of being played. Games already on my Trophy list with multiplayer requirements are getting priority since these games are quite old and the servers could be closed at any time. Already have a couple of games on my list with unobtainables due to that. After that it should be a good time grinding out fun games and maybe finally conquering a console's backlog for the first time.

@AihaLoveleaf - just as a FYI, Tales of Symphonia Chronicles is two games: Tales of Symphonia and Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World.  Probably good to be aware of that since you're looking at 250+ hours to finish both of those.

LOTR: War in the North

This was my last finished PS3 game. The game glitched on me a couple of times. For those that still want to play this; in all your runs make the 'captivate' side quest in chapter 5. This will prevent most glitches in that chapter.

 

Have re-shuffled my list so I can better focus on it. Long list and I hope I do not get discouraged by it.

another update from me. newly done are ninokuni and Renegade ops
Renegade ops was a very fun topdown shooter and is finished pretty fast. i also got its DLC and finished that one.
NiNoKuni was a bigger project and took most of my gaming time since the last update.

also F1 race stars got moved to the "Done with it" pile. The servers dont work well enough for me anymore to finish the remaining trophies. in theory they are still online but i still cannot up or download ghost times from my friends so i have no way of getting the last trophies. for that reason i will also not touch the DLC. i am simply not in the mood to spend money on them when i cannot bring the gam to 100% anyway
Currently i am trying to find someone to do the multiplayerpart of Tank Battles with me so if anyone is interested feel free to contact me^^
