June Update

 

Finally completed Heavy Rain, after a few months of not been able to play it as my controllers were broken, I gotta thank a friend for lending me his . Also got a bit more of progress on Sound Shapes, gonna try to 100% it this week, as I'm starting finals and won't have much time to play other games.

 

As for my next game to complete, I was thinking in either Dead Island or Tomb Raider, or even both at the same time, gonna see if theres active sessions for Tomb Raider first.

Tour de France 2014 is one of the hardest games I've completed, which does sort of explain why it took me 6 years and 3 months. On the other hand, I abandoned it for almost 6 years in between, so maybe not. Anyways, as a massive cycling fan, I had to complete this one, as it's the easiest PS3 TdF game I have left.

It's the end of the month, which means another update! Mostly got distracted with finally playing Ghost of Tsushima (excellent game by the way), but got some good PS3 games this month too!

 

Aliens: Colonial Marines

 

Oh yeah. This game. I mean come on, everyone knows this game is trash by now. Randy Pitchford is a crook and stole all of the money to funnel it into Borderlands 2, and that left it a buggy, boring, terrible mess. That said... it does kind of cross into the so bad it's good territory. Seeing the alien pathing AI is just laughable, and when you look at other games that came out in 2013, this reeeeally does not hold up. Got to do the online with a friend of mine, which made it not completely terrible, and the challenges were made super easy because of it. I even did the DLC. Did you know this game has DLC? It sucks too lmao, it never gets any better. Obviously avoid this one, but I had a weird amount of fun with it.

 

God of War: Ascension

 

Another less than well-reviewed game, though God of War is obviously far and away better than Colonial Marines could ever try to be. This game isn't fantastic, but at the very least it didn't have all its money stolen, so it has that going for it. Graphically, it honestly looks very nice, you can see how they were pushing the PS3 at the end of its life cycle with this one. Gameplay though... not great. The enemies are all really damn tough, and most of them have hyper armor all the time, so you can't even hit them out of their attacks like previous games. The elemental idea was neat? They didn't really do anything with it though. Though this is another prequel it adds basically nothing to the story, I just wanted to get all the PS3 God of Wars out of the way before I do the latest one. This was the last! I enjoyed it decently enough.

 

Pretty happy with this month overall, and I'm even more excited to see where July takes us. I apologize for not updating the spreadsheet... I really need to do better at that. I'll see if I can't get something done with it here soon, make sure everyone is up to date on everything. Good luck everyone! Only a few months left, let's make them count!

I set a lofty goal of 10 games completed in June. Needless to say, I fell short. I finished up the Ratchet  and the Jak games and continued down my Suda51 rabbit hole with Lollipop Chainsaw as my 1 new entry completed. Did a little bit of Heavy Fire, as well. 

 

I am also loading up my physical games picked up over the last few weeks. I might snap up a couple other games, including some digital games from the store to pile up here. Some simple ones, some beefy ones. I added Just Cause 2 after enjoying playing JC3 late last year. Also, Deus Ex: Mankind Divided in on my Ultra Rare Cleanup list and I want to clear Human Revolution first. 

 

Going to aim for 10 again. Last time I made this goal, I quadrupled my output, let's keep pushing up.

I mean I pretty much forfeit the reporter badge because I accidentally all of April and May, but I do have an update for June nonetheless so here we are! Still haven't been able to make much head-way on Revelations' multiplayer, but I refuse to give up! And I've gotten some more trophies in Batman: Arkham City but I know the Combat missions are going to be a real ache. And The Cave will forever be incomplete because somewhere along the way I deleted it from my hard drive, much to my chagrin because it's delisted now. Also my percentage is down because I've started like four games to just... Not continue them. Very cool move on my part for sure ?

Bit more of a quieter month after smashing out Defiance for the plat before the server, must be a little burned out after that one. • NFS: Most Wanted: 0%>29% - After EA announced almost every other game in the series will have it's servers end, I thought it was a goof time to do the mp for this fearing they forgot to mention this title or it would be switched off at some point soon anyway with no mention at all. I need only 1 more online trophy for the base game however would like to get the dlc done too which iv'e found its quite a bit more playtime/grinding. 

No update for Yakuza 3 this month as the mini games have really demotivated me, specifically karaoke. I'm terrible at it so ill wait a little bit before trying to tackle this again. Max Payne was sitting in my list since 2018 when I played the MP once, earned three trophies and put it aside for another time. That time seems to be now  if i want to get all the online stuff before the servers end in September. I have some time off coming up towards the end of the month so I'm anticipating ill get some more gaming time in then seeing as Australia is currently going through another lockdown.

Finishing up on my thoughts for LittleBigPlanet 3 from last month, the bark of glitched trophies was much worse than the bite. I had read that one of the DLC trophies for collecting all prize bubbles had to be done all in one sitting, and some of the prize bubbles required two people to get, so I had a friend over for a few hours to help. After getting all the prize bubbles and finishing the game, nothing. So I had him help with another trophy, by finishing the last quest in the base game. That trophy, which is known to be glitchy, also didn't pop. So after he left, I decided to go for the trophy for acing all the DLC levels, only for the game to crash on me as the first level was loading. After rebooting my PS3 and acing all the DLC levels, both the trophy for acing all levels and the trophy for getting all prize bubbles popped. Afterwards, I decided to play a random level from the base game, and after I finished it the trophy for finishing all quests popped. So other than trophies popping at weird times the game was fairly fun, but I can understand why people won't want to deal with it.

 

I wrote a few months ago that I wanted to cap off the event by finishing one of two games that had been haunting my backlog for years, either Gran Turismo 5 or Max Payne 3. Well the upcoming server closure for Max Payne 3 forced me to finally start it, and while I'm less convinced than ever that New York Minute Hardcore is possible for me, I intend on grinding out the multiplayer at least. At my current pace of one hour of 4.1 score attack per day, I should hit level 50 by the end of the month.

 

And because I didn't already have a big enough grind in Max Payne 3, I've also started Dynasty Warriors 8. I like the hypothetical alternate history scenarios, although I can see it confusing people new to the series. The rock-paper-scissors element added to weapons is a neat strategic touch, dampened somewhat by how hard it is to get strong weapons with the perks you want. Or rather, strong elements without the perks you don't want.

I would say start quickly, but pace yourself. Two and a half months is plenty of time to finish the online segment of Max Payne 3.

Didn't really anticipate having another update so soon, so I'll probably just use this to track any additional progress I make in July! I started and finished Papo & Yo, and while the story and the message tug on the heart strings, if you don't already have it purchased/etc I wouldn't necessarily recommend going out of your way for it. Not terrible, but not great; part of me feels like maybe I'd feel differently if I'd played it when it came out, but there are games that came out at this time that are timeless, so who knows. Update for July 5th

 

Only one trophy earned this week, but boy was this tough! For those who don't know Castle Crashers' Insane Mode: everything has 10x the health, and does 10x the damage compared to normal mode. There's a few exceptions, but the majority of the enemies will kill you in 2-3 hits. Even at maxed out stats. One of the bosses even has 20x the health, but does still do normal damage. What a slog!

 

PSNP puts it t 2.53% and PSN says it's a 1.1% rarity.

You Are Insane
Complete Insane mode and become the ultimate Castle Crasher.

Update for July 13th

As much as I don't like double posting, there's been no new posts in over a week and I'd like to make my weekly report.

 

Castle Crashers

Finally finished this gem of a game. It's still on my system to help out others, especially the MP trophies and with Insane Mode.

Getting the Volleyball game trophy (bounce the ball 20 times without it touching the ground) was trickier than anticipated.

 

BioShock 1: Challenge Rooms DLC

It was time to travel down to Rapture one last time. This time as a regular-Joe-who-just-happened-to-crash-his-plan-near-the-entrance *ahem*.

I had already gotten the platinum, so my time was spent saving Little Sisters from their Big Daddy, from a busted Ferris wheel, and beating the crap out of everyone in 8 rooms of pain.

The first two were fairly easy to do, even the speed-runs weren't that hard (though the first still took quite a few tries). It's the last one (World of Hurt) that took hours to get. I must have reloaded my save over 30 times! When almost every second counts, every dollar spent wisely, even the right choice of Plasmid or Tonic can make a huge difference! Thankfully there's a few guides and even a video to show us weary splicers the way.

Goodbye Rapture, you decrepit utopia.. you will be missed!

 

Batman Arkham Origins

Last evening I finally continued this game, after having completed most of my on-going games' multiplayer aspects. And Shiva's pretty butt had to be kicked without her or her goons touching mine. Tough, challenging (especially with re-learning the controls), and very satisfying to pop!

Update for July 19th

 

Only one game played, but nonetheless a fruitful week!

 

Batman Arkham Origins

Completed the first playthrough while obtaining all ranks of Worst Nightmare, Gotham Protector, World's Greatest Detective, along with I Got This (all upgrades).

I already had the Protector and Detective, but they're needed to unlock all upgrades.

And what a pain in the ass those Worst Nightmare ranks were... highly missable and very, very, VERY annoying to limit yourself to complete all 15 ranks in order.

But I got 'em all. Now to blast through New Game Plus (hard) and I Am The Knight (hardcore: one life). I'm already halfway (according to Synopsis) my NG+ run, and I'm barely 5 hours in. For comparison going through NG took almost 35 hours.

 

Progress this week: 76% -> 80%

I've been incredibly slack on stopping by for updates. I did join the Bean Dive event over on TT this month, and have started a few games as a result.
