Popular Post Phantochi
Alright, since i'm going for 10 games, i'll only do a preview and a final impressions for each game, or a review if i manage to finish it in 3 days. Before i write a short preview of my first game, i'll share my starting stats: Games played: 326 Completed games: 177 Unearned trophies: 4,835 Completion rate: 68,29% Game #1 Preview - Salt and Sanctuary I purchased this game on a whim, because i like the souls "genre" and read this was similar, but in 2D. This game was developed by Ska Studios, they also developed a game called The Dishwasher: Dead Samurai for the Xbox 360, and that game is an amazing 2D beat em' up, so i'm pretty excited to see what they did with the souls formula. Popular Post Arctic Cress
My starting statistics, compared with KYC 13's start: Games played: 425 (+23) Games completed: 259 (+18) Unearned trophies: 3,489 (+125) Completion percentage: 73.09% (+0.84%) That's a large completion increase, but coupled with more unfinished games and unearned trophies to continue that slide. I'm used to it by now, though. First game will be Robotics;Notes Elite to continue the VN binge I've been on lately.

I've probably played a Doom, at some point in my life (and seen the movie). Though haven't in awhile. All I really know is it's an FPS, and you fight demons in hell. Now while this won't be my first assassin's creed game I've played I've only played bits and pieces from different games I have never played one all the way thru. Even so I have love for this series so I'm excited to play this game for the first time. Now from what I have gathered from the AC fandom there are 3 camps they fall in. You have the Enzo Collection fans who say that's where the games peak and the rest are trash, you have the AC Black Flag fans who say the Series peaked around this time with Unity killing it then there is the fans of AC Origins & Odyssey fans who love the direction the series took with origins and right now this is the best time. Since I don't really have experience with the games I don't have these predispositions so I can just sit back and enjoy these games. While I do plan to go back in play the rest of the series retroactively I felt this was the best place to start as this is the game that started the new generation of AC games Edited November 2, 2020 by Lodbizarro

While I enjoyed playing Sonic and NHL on my Sega 16, I was blown away with the graphics and gameplay of the original Doom on the PC. I would go to a friend’s house to play and it was probably the first big first-person shooter to have a mass audience. I also remember an early Wolfenstein. But if your PC had some decent speakers and you played with the lights out, it was poop-in-your-pants scary. And that was a new kind of gaming experience for all of us, compared to Super Mario from just a few years prior.

Doom 2016 is great and even the MP is fun, and that means a lot coming from me. ID Software along with 3D Realms have been by far the best developers for old-school FPS game for hte past 20 years. Still hoping for a new Quake game that ain't MP-focused. 8 hours ago, Lodbizarro said: Game 1 first impressions: Assassin's Creed Origins So this will be my 1st game I'm going to play on my list. Popular Post DamagingRob
Game 1, Day 1- Doom Well, they certainly waste no time throwing you into the action. Game opens up with your character on a concrete slab, he breaks out of his restraints, and you start shooting. Seems light on story. People did something dumb, and opened up a portal that spawned demons from hell. And now you get to shoot them all. Gameplay seems pretty fun, though, from what little I played. Only have two guns, so far. A pistol with unlimited ammo, and a shotgun with limited ammo. Ammo pickups (as well as health and shield ones) are scattered throughout the levels. Enemies also go into a weakened state after taking so much damage. And if you go up to and melee them during this time, they'll drop health pickups. There are also collectibles and secrets in every level, including fighting enemies in retro-looking areas. After playing a couple levels, I switched to SnapMaps. Here you can make your own levels, or play ones created by other people. I doubt I'll go back to it, now that I have the associated trophies. But some might enjoy that kind of thing. And that's about it. I'm sure I'll get a lot further in the game, and probably try out the multiplayer over the next four days. Today being Sunday, football took up most of my time. :/ Time played: An hour or so. Trophy progress: 4/55 for 3% and an E rank.
Popular Post kingofbattle8174
Game one Review: Overall Completion Beginning: 59.92% Current: 59.87% Game Stats 8/13 38% C Rank In the continuity of the Arkham series, this game take place after the events of Arkham City. The game begins with Bruce/Batman passed out on the piano bench for no apparent reason. You also quickly informed that both Robin and Nightwing are unaccounted for. And with that off you go to be Batman. All that being said, you really do feel like you are stepping more into the role and the Arkham universe. The game is very crisp and clean with great character models and environments. It looks good and solid even though it was a launch title for the VR. My biggest gripe has to do with the length, well more than just that. The story itself can be completed in just over an hour, it maybe took me longer because I played around in the Batcave and in a few other areas getting some of the miscellaneous trophies. It is also a very on the rails experience. You cannot explore much and can only move by hopping forward from point to point. I do not mind a rails experience, Rush of Blood did it really well. But for this game it feels very limiting at times. There are the handful of locations and the limited exploration keep it very small. For a medium priced game, you would expect more. Even years after release the game still carries a $20 price tag. That is not to say it is all bad, it does some things quite well. Since you do not have the movement, so it limits the stealth and combat of an Arkham title, it plays more like the Telltale putting more of the detective work to the forefront. You do crime scene reconstruction, and examine bodies for blast residue. The latter is kind of gross as you see the muscle and bones of the victims as you examine them. It is a cool experience but feels more like a demo than a full game. This could have been the launch pad to a really cool full Arkham game in 3D. Left over in this game I still have a few random things to do and the collectables run. That means riddles and breaking every camera and power relay. Thee last two taking up the most time for what the guide says is in all a 5 hour experience. We will see if I have time to get atleast the randoms done before Game 2 on Wednesday.
Popular Post Phantochi
Game #1 Review - Salt and Sanctuary I just got the platinum for Salt and Sanctuary, didn't expected to get it so fast but i couldn't stop playing this game, and this isn't gonna be a proper review, i just wanna praise this game a little. It's amazing. It takes everything good from Dark Souls and The Dishwasher and mashes them together in a blender, with a fair amount of originality thrown in. This is one of my favorite game purchases in a long while. The game begins with the player stowed away in a ship that is also carrying a princess from an unnamed country who is to be married to an opposing country's king in order to avert war. But all of nowhere, cthulhu shows up wrecking the ship and sending you drifting to shore of a mysterious island. In this island, you meet many npcs that are trying to uncover the misteries around that place, and as this journey goes on, they come to realize that the island is made up of copies of dangerous locations from the various continents of the world, pretty interesting stuff, but i'll stop from here to avoid giving any spoiler. Besides an obscure, interesting story, and nice characters full of charisma, this game have an amazing level design, a dark fantasy/gothic art style, a large variety of bosses, a great soundtrack, a large variety of weapons armor and spells, an extremely large skill tree, reminded me of Path of exile skill tree, it also have a touch of metroidvania, an occasional punishing difficulty, a responsive and rewarding combat, and the list goes on. For trophies, it's pretty straight forward, you'll only miss any trophy, if you don't explore or don't feel like doing a quest for a npc. Now i'm gonna say something i rarely say right after i 100% a game. I'm gonna go 100% this game again. Total time: 9h 37m Trophies: 38/38, 100% for S Rank My next game is Red Faction Guerrilla, and i'll only start it on the 4th, until then i'll keep cleaning my backlog and reading your impressions/reviews. Popular Post Lodbizarro
Game 1 Update: Assassin's Creed Origins Okay now that I have played the game for about 7 hours I'm going to give my actual first impression of the game. So far I am really enjoying it and can see why it might be some peoples favorite in the series. First of wow even though I've only finished the first town(Siwa) the world feels vast I wandered around for hours and was only in the first area. interesting enough I also found the vastness to be a bit overwhelming. Between all the exploring of the area (collectibles, tombs, side quests...) and customization options with skills, perks, and weapons it took awhile to get used to (honestly I still haven't fully gotten the hang of it). Also It might just be me but the quest icons and how they appear on the map/HUD can also be confusing to follow. For example while I was in the middle of a side quest performing what I thought was the objective I had inadvertently completed a separate quest and even accidentally completed the main quest for the area. I had killed the boss of the area by complete accident thinking he was just part of the mob of enemies it wasn't until the story cut in that I realized what happened. So far I've played around with different Hud settings now but I won't know if it actually helps until I move to the second area and start questing there since I've finished all the ones in my current area. Still so far my impression of this game is very positive and can't wait to see if I still feel the same way after a few more days of playing. Popular Post voodoo_eyes
Game #1 - RWBY: Grimm Eclipse - Final Impressions Time played: 5h Trophies earned: 6/38 I'm struggling to find positive things to say about this game. It's short, that counts right? Graphically this game is passable overall. Visually it's very bland though. It's essentially just surrounding environments wiht no other details in it, There is nothing that stands out visually. When it comes to music and sound it's not much different. Everything sounds very one dimensional, All character yell the same sound with each attack and the music is forgettable, I mean I don't remember it at all. About the gameplay. There are 4 characters to choose from (all females) , and apparently you can buy another 4 as DLC. You also can choose, if you want to play single player or co-op (online only) and boy does this game make it obvious that it should be played in co-op. The enemies are all damage sponges. In all of the 10 missions, the enemies keep repeating themselves, sprinkling a new tyope in here and there. Your attacks are also pretty limited, with regular and strong attacks being a thing as well as two special moves anda ranged attack. You can switch up combos a bit, but there is no combo list or anything, like it would be usually the case with this genre. The game essentially consists of a very lackluster gameplay loop. You go through an area, until you reach a larger space and then you get enemy waves thrown at you. This happens several times, until you reach the end of a level. Then you still get waves of enemies thrown at you, but you also need to either defend, escort or destroy a thing. The few bosses are essentially big versions of the trash mobs, with exception of the final boss. I managed to get to the final boss, but died when he was at like 20% health, which took me a good 20-30 minutes to do. Again, it's an absolute damage sponge and the fight is really easy for hte most part. Until he only has a 3rd of his health left, then he starts sumoning enemies, which weill keep respwaning if you kill them. So you are in a small room, with a boss that does mainly area of effect attacks and ranged and melee mobs spawn. One again the design makes it clear that this fight was made in mind for co-op. I didn't try again, because I didn't want to sit through another 30 minute fight, so instead I did the next best thing and deleted the game. In case it isn't obvious at this point. Don't buy this shit. Edited November 6, 2020 by voodoo_eyes

Trophies 0 > 2 Took me awhile to figure out the quest thing too. Easiest way is to go to the Quest screen and highlight the one you are focused on. Then it will tell you to head there on the map. Once you unveil more map, you won’t have any issues with quests getting confused. Also realize, there are multi-step quests so you might have 3-4 Open quests at some point. Siwa is pretty much the size of Rhode Island in this enormous map of Egypt. So you will have plenty to do once you open it up. Enjoy!
Popular Post AuroraHistoire
Watch Your Step - Corpse Party: Blood Drive (there will be spoilers for the Corpse Party series) Corpse Party: Blood Drive is a sequel to Corpse Party, Corpse Party: Book of Shadows and the strange birthday "spin-off but not", allegedly. It's kind of important to at least play the first one since the game continues the story and doesn't take much time to explain what happened. The plot of Corpse Party ( Corpse Party spoilers ahead) is that 7 high school, a middle schooler and their teacher preform a black magic "friendship" ritual that goes horrible wrong and sends them to a horrible murder school dimension. If you get the best ending, only half of them die, the murder school dimension gets mostly destroyed and everyone else makes it back with varying degrees of emotional trauma. The only important plot that happens in Book of Shadows (spoilers) is that Ayumi finds a magic book, called The Book of Shadows, tries a spell to revive her dead friends but fails miserably. She almost dies but is saved from death at last second by her sister. The plot of Blood Drives picks up 2 months later when Ayumi gets out of the hospital. This Aiko girl more or less demands Ayumi to go back to the murder school, known as Heavenly Host, to grab the Book of Shadows. Ayumi agrees to go back since she wants to try reviving her dead friends again. The gameplay consists of visual novel sections and 3D exploration sections. The visual novel sections are nothing too special. The character art looks fine and is expressive enough. Sometimes the 3D character models from the exploration sections act out he scenes in the background. The visual novels sections are very common, especially in the first 3 chapters and tends to interrupt the exploration frequently. The 3D exploration consists of walking careful around Heavenly Host until something spooky and deadly shows up. Hazards are everywhere in the school. There is broken wood and glass that deals a little damage when you walk on it. There is piano wire too that will deal a lot of damage but you can remove it. Fleshy bits of... school flesh are everywhere too and you also don't want to step on those; tentacles could grab you or an enemy could spawn. Oh, there is also enemies that will chase you around and deal damage of they catch you. Your only defense is to hide in a closet or have a talisman on you. Talismans are consumable items that used upon getting hit; they'll either defeat the attacker or absorb a hit depending on the enemy. You must manage your health so you don't die. You can heal up by saving at save points or using bandages. In addition to managing your health, you must also manage your darkening. Darkening is a sanity mechanic; it increases from taking damage from some enemies and interacting with objects multiple times (it takes 50 object interactions before you die). The only effect a high darkening will have on the game is that the screen will get all staticy. The static effect was so subtle the first time I encountered it, that I thought I was imagining it but it gets super obvious when you're close to death. You can clear darkening by interacting with certain statues. There is a third resource you need to manage, if you want. It's your flashlight/torch/phone. It's basically your only light source and it will run out of battery. The game is bright enough (with no help from my Vita's brightness settings) that you can see but having the flashlight makes it a lot nicer. You get about 10 minutes of light with 1 set of batteries. You can angle the flashing with the right stick and turn it off with L to save battery, There is also a cheat to give yourself unlimited battery, press the select button once (I discovered the cheat by mistake). There is no consequence to using the cheat but it won't revive your flashlight if you're out of battery. So far, I like Corpse Party: Blood Drive. I enjoy the story and want to finish it. I enjoy the exploration gameplay a lot. I find the setting very spooky; I was the most scared walking the halls with nothing happening. I also have a few negatives to bring up. The chibi-ish style of the 3D models makes the enemies less scary. Their tactics have been a little too simple for me so far. As far I can tell, they stand in one spot and run after you if the spot you. They will chase you from 1 end of the school to the other and never give up unless you hide in a closet or use a talisman. They also seem to be very observant and will run at you screaming from off screen before you even spot them in my experience. The game's load times feel a few seconds too long and are frequent. The game needs to load every time you go through a door or opening your menu. The times are long enough to through the flow of a chase off (enemies can and will chase you through doors) and the only way to accurately see your health is by opening the menu. Also, the frame rate stutters a bit when enemies appear and you trip on holes in the floor. The frame rate stutter also made the game feel a bit more creepy. The music is a bit forgettable and I actually thought the game was silent until I made an effort to listen to it. Your character's footsteps also don't make sound; it's not a deal breaker but it does bother me. The trophy list so far has been good. The trophies range from getting all the ending for each chapter, dying under specific conditions, a no-hit chapter run, a zero darkening chapter run, beating a whole chapter without using your flashlight and some collectables (most of them you don't have to pay attention for). Collecting every name tag from every dead body looks to be the most painful trophy of the list. I found a lot of them already and I'm only on the forth chapter. The bodies are never that hidden and the game keeps very good track of the name tags you already picked up. I really like Corpse Party: Blood Drive. The story is good enough to keep me interested and the gameplay is fun, spooky and mostly enjoyable. I really want to play some more as soon as I can.

What I remember disliking most was the constant interruptions by the VN element, which made it impossible for me to actually get immersed in the game. Glad to hear, that you're enjoying it though.
Popular Post Kevvik
And it begins... Game #1: Erica Early impressions Time played: 5 hrs Erica is an interesting experiment. It is essentially an interactive live-action movie with you, as the main character, Erica. You start the game as a little girl having a story told to you by your father about your mother who could (maybe) predict the future. Your father eventually gets murdered and you wake from a nightmare, now being about 18. Leaving your flat the next morning, you find a box on your doorstep containing a severed hand holding a medallion, the same symbol carved into your father’s chest in the nightmare. You control the game with a cursor of sorts, using either the touchpad on your controller or, with the right app, your cellphone. You use the cursor to pick dialogue choices, choose a path or perform simple movement actions (pushing open doors, unfolding papers, etc). The game eases you into this and the prompts never really go away so it’s easy to do things. I’ll try to avoid spoilers about the storyline. The movie lasts around an hour and a half, maybe a bit longer depending on your path through it. The game tells you early on that you can’t experience the whole thing in one playthrough. There are collectibles in areas that only certain paths will open to you, likewise scenes which are unique to the path you take. I’ve played through 3 times so far and it’s interesting seeing the new material. That said, I’ve repeated several multi-step actions three times as well, actions which don’t really change things at all, just advance the story. These are getting tedious and I’m not done yet because I still have trophies to get. Speaking of trophies, you don’t get them until you finish the story, all the ones you’ve earned popping during the credits. Collectibles add up over multiple playthroughs, counting the uniques ones as you find them but you can’t see how many there are or how many you have found. The performances aren’t too bad but there’s no real subtlety in how things play out. Suspend your disbelief at the door and try not to groan at how obvious some plot points are. So much of what happens just makes the path so painfully obvious for all that you actually have choices. There’s also no real red herrings, things go right where you think they are going. This could have been done better, maybe developing deeper branches of plot than they did. As I said at the start, this is an interesting experiment though more about what potential was there if the writing was better and the plot had more depth. More thought and a few convincing plot bluffs could have led to a better experience. Still, getting it free with PS+ eases the pain a bit and makes it easier to look at what could have been. Trophies earned: 27/34, 75% for A rank Score so far: 5/10 (1st playthrough 6/10)
Popular Post voodoo_eyes
Game #2 - Zombie Vikings - Preview Developer:: Zoink Publisher: Zoink Genre: Beat 'em Up Price: 11,99€ Another title with co-op, however this one has couch and online co-op. It's also a different genre than the last game, as this one is more along the lines of Streets of Rage of maybe more similar to Golden Axe. I've played a couple games by Zoink, among them being Fe and Flipping Death. Both were mediocre for different reasons. I'm hoping Zombie Vikings will be more enjoyable. In theory it should be ,as it's a genre I enjoy more and I can still remember spending hours playing Streets of Rage 1 and 2 when I was younger.
Popular Post Phantochi
Game #2 First Impression - Red Faction Guerrilla Remastered I'm 3 hours in this game and it's fun, but i don't think it will last. It's my first time, i always heard people talking about this game back in the ps3 days, specially it's jaw dropping destruction system or something like that, and its destruction action still holds up today, it might get repetitive as i play but we'll see. Since it's developed by Volition, i was expecting a comical GTA style game, like Saints Row or their most recent work Agents of Mayhem, and so far, it feels exactly like that, but a Saints row filled with explosions and without the comic stuff and dick jokes. I tried the Multiplayer a few times but with no luck, can't find a single soul. I'll just keep playing this game's campaign for fun without thinking about trophies to see where it goes, because i took a look at some guides for this game and yeah, too much bullshit. Also, they optimized this game with their asses. it crashed 3 times already and my save file got corrupted and i had to start from scratch, at least i wasn't that far in the campaign Total time: 3 hours Trophies earned: 3/57, 5% for D Rank Edited November 4, 2020 by Phantochi
Popular Post kingofbattle8174
Game 2 Preview Overall Completion Beginning: 59.92% Current: 59.93% I am actually up since I off set my last game by playing some more ManEater and clearing some areas. I really do not know alot about this game. I saw maybe a minute of a stream of it some time ago but it did not tell me much. I know it seems to have a stealth component and that it has this cute protagonist in a raincoat. That's about it, oh and lots of people love it. No guide for this run, I am not worried about collectables, just want to get a feel of the game.

Popular Post Kevvik
Game #1: Erica Final Impressions Time played: 8 hrs So I found all the endings and finished the game. Not much change in my early impressions. The last path, where I got the cop killed before the final stretch, was interesting but with its diversity came some script confusion (the killer asks me to take her to a secret door I haven’t discovered yet and i don’t even bat an eye about it) but overall it wasn’t bad. The repetitive actions you take regardless of the path you are on were really tedious by playthrough 5. More new material in each branch would have been welcome as most of the differences are pretty minor. It would be interesting to see something like this done by someone with more ambition. Not a bad game overall, though. Trophies: 34/34, 100% for S rank Final score: 5/10 Completion Rate: 84.62% (+0.05% for the event) Next up: Game #2: Catherine
Popular Post PerryToxteth
KYC 14 Game No. 1 Trophies Earned: 0/26 Playing Time: 2 hours Summary: Lesson learned; don’t play a Survival game during a pandemic and cataclysmic national election. My anxiety was steadily building as Election Day grew near and like every other monumental event in 2020, it has been agonizingly drawn out. Can’t be easy or simple in 2020, right? That said, I was hoping to find a game that could alleviate the tension, and this game is NOT that. It’s your typical survival play, Dude 1 is thirsty, Dude 2 is hungry, Dude 3 is hurt and Dudette is tired. It seemed very similar to This War of Mine, but that game started slow and eased you in. Where Help Will Come Tomorrow suffered for me is the tutorial was sparse and the interface was awful. To start the game, a train wrecked in Siberia and you are briefly introduced to the four characters you will need to nanny sit. An aristocrat, military officer, Bolshevik and bourgeoisie bloke. The tutorial informs you that they need to improve the camp by making fire, shelter, palisade, work bench and nursing station. Each character get a couple action points to build or repair stuff, or scavenge for items. You can pair up people to make the job easier, but you have to take into account their camaraderie. If they don’t get along the job won’t go as well. Just trying to figure out what to do was not easy. The game makes no suggestions to ease you in. You have a limited number of items to assist you with making a shelter, or a fence, or a bow and arrow, etc., etc. Items include wood, stone, rag, etc. But it’s not easy to figure out if you have the numbers in your inventory to do your tasks. Nor does it tell you what the resources could be used for. Once your tasks are complete, you click to advance to nighttime where the characters share their personal stories. I’m sure they get more interesting as you play, so I can’t comment on the story, I got fed up with the game bc the interface is just terrible. It would work fine with a mouse but it’s hard with a controller. Some things can be clicked and dragged, but it’s not apparent what can be activated and what’s just scenery. When I struggled with basic tasks like giving water to characters, that was it for me. I’m trying to play video game for fun entertainment, not more frustration. So for only the second time in my KYC career, I abandoned a game. Sorry for that. It just wasn’t working for me right now. Maybe in a few months I’ll be more in the mood for this. But definitely not this week. Final Grade: Incomplete Next Up: Bomber Crew Edited November 6, 2020 by PerryToxteth
