R-Type Final 2 coming Spring 2021, NISA publishing in West

NIS America is bringing Granzella's R-Type Final 2 to the West. Beside PS4 it's also going to Xbox One/Series X&S, PC, and Switch. RTF2 is planned for Spring 2021. First there will be a demo in February or March. It could take a little more time to complete, especially with the damn pandemic putting them a few months behind the original schedule.

 

Granzella plans on adding one stage each from R-Type Final, R-Type Delta, R-Type III (SNES), R-Type Leo, and R-Type II redone with the latest tech. If the crowdfunding goes further, they'll add the original R-Type's stages 1 and 3. Hitting $2M means "production of a total of all 102 R-craft" which I guess means all ships from the PS2 R-Type Final being added.

 

NISA will sell an Inaugural Flight Edition ($50) and a Limited Edition ($85). The IFE comes with a softcover artbook, while the LE comes with a Metal Earth R9A model and a deluxe hardcover artbook. Both of these will come with a soundtrack CD and a collector's box.

 

Sounds good to me. I'll probably go for the limited edition.
