Popular Post Ghost
Including Previous PS4 Play Time - Quote Among the many changes and improvements you'll find in the PlayStation 5's new user interface is an enhanced profile page. Perhaps most notably, this includes a list of your played games along with details on when you last played them and how many hours you've spent with each one. The feature works not unlike the Nintendo Switch's equivalent, but this appears to be better in a few ways. For starters, you don't need to wait a period of time before this play time estimate becomes available. It's also a bit more precise with the numbers it shows, as it doesn't round those numbers in the same way that Switch does. What's most exciting is that these play times don't just start counting once you've gotten your new PS5 plugged in. Your profile also showcases the time you've spent playing on PS4, which means all those hours you sunk into Overwatch, The Witcher III, Rez Infinite, Destiny 2, or your game of choice will be represented here. This won't impact your play experience in the same way that the new Activities feature or the DualSense controller will, but these small touches are nonetheless a fun part of the transition to a new console generation. Popular Post EIdain
Here's a screenshot of it from Greg Miller's UI walkthrough. Edited November 6, 2020 by EIdain
djb5f
This is welcomed. Would this count time spent in one of the menus for example without actually playing the game? Or when the game is paused. I imagine so but curious as sometimes I boot a game up but get distracted by something on TV only to come back to it an hour later. The accolade thing is exactly as Overwatch's endorsement system, doesn't mean shit but the idea is cool
MandA60VISE
It's weird how the article mentions Rez Infinite among the the multiplayer games and the long RPG as something that would have lots of hours.
Popular Post Lordidude
Awesome. Now not only will my parents tell me that I spent too much time playing video games. My very console will do it herself.

I'm pretty sure it just counts running time of a game/app when visible on screen. That means, when you pause a game, the timer won't stop.
Cerber108
Holy shit, nice, I was looking for such feature. This fan-made counting thingy is good, but I think it counts time even if you are in console menu while game is running. Undead Wolf
Glad to see we finally have access to this stat. No reason we couldn't have had this feature on PS4 as well since they were clearly tracking time played in PS4 games, but whatever. This will be nice to have going forward.
TheNastyChocobos
i wonder if it counts the hours you play while offline or does it need to be connected to the servers to track
ShadowReplicant
I wonder if you have to allow Sony to collect Service Data and Additional Data for this to work, because I turned that shit off a long time ago. I wasn't even included in their 2019 Wrap-Up.

Thanks, Captain Obvious. I get that, but I'm wondering if this new feature is tied to Service/Additional Data collection as well.

It put me at 11 hours for Skyrim VR when my save file is sitting at 41 hours. It's also off by 100 hours for FF12.
