Forcing players to grind through 64 rounds of it, without any saving or checkpoints, is absolutely ludicrous. Treyarch staff live in the Activision bubble. Remember who their CEO is. Money drives Activision, not customer service. As long as their COD games help maintain the CEO‘s $165 million dollar annual salary, Bobby is going to let Treyarch include whatever trophies they want. Remember World at War on Veteran, or Black Ops 1 on Veteran (grenade spamming, few checkpoints, NPCs with no thermal vision yet 100% accuracy in smoke)? These are the same developers who believed having players put broken glass in the mouth of an NPC and then punch the NPC’s jaw was a good plot idea. Don’t expect Treyarch to change. If they improve a game, my guess would be because sales are lagging, not because customer’s time matters. Trophy hunters mean no more to Treyarch than that tortured NPC. We are a means to an end ($). It is a pleasant surprise that checkpoints were added after the game’s release. However, it doesn’t change the fact that Treyarch found it acceptable to have players slog through 64 levels with no checkpoints. If Treyarch valued customers’ time, checkpoints would have been one of their first game design priorities. Their actions show the idea wasn’t even on their radar until third parties demanded it.
