The Guide Team is looking for additional staff members

Hello everyone! The Guide Team is looking for reinforcements. Specifically, at this time, we are looking for two capable and willing members of the community who are interested in joining our team. 

 

To qualify, we require these qualities:

• An excellent understanding of English
• Excellent knowledge of what is necessary for a guide
• Capable of communicating criticism and able to advise in a helpful manner
• Have established that they are skilled in their guide writing
• Able to be available at least a few times a week to work on staff duties. Guides takes hours of work to review and can be a considerably lengthy process for even simple guides. The more detailed a guide might be, the longer it may take to review.
• Capable of keeping all back-end information acquired confidential

 

Preferred but not required

• Access to the PSNP Discord for easy communications between both staff and community
• A basic understanding of HTML (some things we do are in the guides cc viewer)
• A basic knowledge of Image editing (sometimes we need to resize images to fix errors)

 

Additionally, by becoming a staff member, the following will happen:

• Your guides will no longer qualify for GotY Awards but may still be awarded a Seal of Quality
  • Collaborators of a guide may always be eligible however
• Your future guides will be held to a higher standard than to that of the base site as your work should exemplify what a quality guide entails
• You will be given a snazzy mango-orange name

 

Final notes to consider:

• This is an unpaid voluntary position
• If not selected, you may be considered for future staff positions
• If selected, the new staff will be mentioned here
• Before you start your staff duties, you must train first

Hey, I'd be interested. I've only done a couple of guides for this site, but on the old PS3T I had some bigger guides such as; MGS2, Dead Island, Outlast, FEAR 3, Daylight etc. I also wrote a couple of full written reviews that tied in with a few of those guides.

Should also add that I'm fine with the HTML side of things and coding. I'm on Discord too.

I'll help if needed, but I've never written a guide. That said, I do have a masters degree in English. I also worked as a journalist for several years, so I have lots of writing/editing experience. I have Discord and am familiar with Photoshop, but I haven't done anything in HTML in several years.

I’ll say straight up that I don’t really have experience with HTML so if anyone volunteers that does they’d be the better choice. But I’m happy to spend time reviewing guides to help ease the pressure a bit on the guide team. Not sure what you’re looking for in terms of amount of guide experience, but I’ve made 4 so far.

I wouldn't mind a snazzy orange name ? here's my list:

• Native speaker of English and received the highest possible English Language grade in school exams 2 years ago
• I've written and read several guides, and use this website for my trophy guide needs so I know the ins-and-outs.
• I use discord daily, and manage some servers
• Some knowledge of photoshop (Enough to resize & tweak images) and am currently learning more about it every day
• Limited HTML knowledge (tragic, I know)

I would like to try out for this, I have made plenty of guides for the site, and I know what is required of a guide. Below are some of my attributes that will be useful in guide moderating  

• First off, English is my first (and only) language.
• Dead By Daylight: Excellent knowledge of English and what's required of a guide.
• Five Night's At Freddy's: Basic understanding of Photoshop.
• I have used criticism for guides in the past, so I am capable of using constructive criticism.
• I'm also at home most of the time, so I have plenty of time to help if needed
• I also have been thinking of using this as good practice for when I go to college
• I'm also relatively active in the PSNP Discord. I like to change profile pictures and discord tags a lot, but my tag as of now is MinatoIsDEAD!!!#6714

I understand if you guys don't accept me, that's fine, but I'd love to at least experience something like this and help alleviate the workload you guide moderators carry when looking at everyone's guides.

• Currently able to put a lot of time into reading and reviewing and that will continue as I enjoy reading guides in general.
• Capable of keeping all back-end information acquired confidential.

• I know some HTML, but it's been a wee while since I used it.
• I have edited using basic and more detailed photo software.

Best of luck to everyone applying =] If it matters in the slightest (which it might not but eh), just noticed Squid and Minato have applied - as a seasoned guide writer who had the opportunity to work with them both recently, would like to confirm that not only were they incredibly respectful with their criticism, but were also very easy to work with. If this thread had a reference section, would like to be that for both of these gentlemen. Good luck everyone ^-^

Would love to be considered for the position as well. I've written few guides on the site and would love to keep contributing to PSNProfiles!

 

While English is not my mother tongue, I constantly try to improve & use it daily more than any other to communicate with my friends and my partner, all of which don't speak my language (Spanish). 

 

As for preferred requirements, Discord is my main messaging platform so that's nice. I also know enough to defend myself in image editing (Photoshop) and HTML basics.

As someone who has written many guides on this site over the last 4 years, I've thought back-and-forth on applying in the last few days, but I think I'm going to pass as I feel others who have applied have more qualifications than I do. Also, I simply don't feel like I'd be a great fit for such a duty.

I'm an English major that recently completed graduate studies, so I'm naturally well-versed in writing while implementing criticism or feedback. I also have demonstrable experience with writing various speedrunning guides. While I do not have formal experience in writing trophy guides, I'm more than happy to share some of my previous work should I be considered. I believe that my background is definitely transferrable to this volunteer role.
