Cryogenicide_X
Should motion blur and film grain be turned off in games ideally? I just wondered whether it's better when there turned off.
HuntingFever
Yes x1,000, that shit makes everything look terrible so deactivate them immediately!

Popular Post Helyx
Why would film grain be turned on? What maniac defaults to a filter like that?
kanzenchaos
Motion blur is fine, I personally love it if done right. Film grain really depends on the mood of the game, it fits horror games better imo.
Maaden_Swe
I play games as the developers want me to play them, its their vision
derstra123
Absolutely yes. I hate motion blur when it's too invasive and the grain is something I find annoying. Edited November 28, 2020 by derstra123
Riztopher
Yes, on PC that's the first thing I do is turn off motion blur. I get the appeal but I just think it makes the games look ugly. Really wish developers wouldn't have it in general.
yellowwindow7
I Always turn both off if I have the option, I really don't know what's the point of the film grain effect, as it's made the visual looks a bit ugly to my taste. and the motion blur could effect the framerate and made some games looks... well blurry, as I mostly notice it when playing Uncharted 4, when I set the motion blur to 100 or 50% the framerate will shows some slowdown when I made the camera goes on circles around Nathan, but runs super smooth when I completely removes it. it's been years since I used to hear PC players saying motion blur is stupid in games and will effect the image quality and back in the ps3 and some selected ps2 games that have a motion blur I used to see it looks so cool, but when I got a ps4 where most games have the option to let you remove them I finally learn what these people meant. KondeBra
Hummm... I like the film grain effect. Sue me.
zizimonster
I like all in-game SFX when they're not excessive. For instance, the motion blur in Marvel's Spider-Man and the new Ratchet and Clank, and the film grain in Deus Ex: Mankind Divided.
Quink666
I always turn both off since playing longer sessions with them enabled i get a headache. With both turned off i'm good for 6-10 hours.
StraightVege
The first thing I do after booting up a new game is check the options menu for motion blur, screen shake, and filters, so I can immediately switch them all off. I don't want my game to look and feel worse, thank you very much.
Lord_Bane999
It honestly depends on the games. I feel they do add to certain games especially those having a more cinematic flair to them. But I will turn them off in games with a heavy focus on multiplayer as they are post processing effects and can affect fps and input lag in a really bad way at times. Besides that the only other time I will ever turn them off is if they're too much for eyes. (My one eye is worse then my other so sometimes the effects like those can be a little much more then intended and make it difficult for me to really see what I'm doing.) Dangisuckatgamin
I’m mimicking others on the motion blur option, I always turn it off. I can’t stand it regardless if the developer intended for it to be on or not. I always say it makes games look much worse as well as making me feeling more motion sick with it on. I turn it off on PC right away as well.
You
Motion blue I hate, also makes me feel ill. But filters are cool on most games. I remember the spooky TV filter on Silent Hill 1, 2 and 3, they were awesome, I don't think I would be able to play those games without the filter there. Also on Metal Gear Solid 1 on the Playstation. The kinda "double imagery" filter somehow made the graphics looks a bit better.

RadiantFlamberge
Motion blur I'll usually turn to a low setting, just not off. Film grain is used well in F.E.A.R. 2 and Deus Ex MD, but it's not something I want in every game.
