Popular Post jemmie
For those of us who have ever participated in the Trophy Hunters League, many of us have wondered why the finals were called the CWC. Some people say CWC stands for Championship World Cup. Others say it stands for Carl Wheezer's Croissant. I'm here to say that they're both wrong (at least for this particular circumstance). For this Holiday Special, the CWC is called the Crazy Winter Carnival, the Holiday Special to end all holiday specials! For those who don't know what I'm talking about, let me explain. In past years, I created an annual holiday special for the THL, each different from the last. You can check out the past threads below. Spoiler First Second Third Fourth Fifth After I'd say the third holiday special, these events started to lose steam, and last year, I didn't even make an event (mostly because I was busy last December, but that's beside the point). I wasn't planning on doing another one of these, but then I participated in the Summer Tag Team 2020 event earlier this year. I found this event to be revolutionary, not because of the event itself but because of the bot used to keep track of scores. After the event, I contacted the owner of the bot, @Froopy the Pogfish, and we started talking about ambitious event ideas that I've had in the past that just weren't worth putting in the effort to run...until now. Here at the Crazy Winter Carnival, there are four attractions, each ranging from "that's slightly odd" to "how is this even going to work"? After all four attractions, the winner of each attraction will compete head-to-head in the finals (not unlike the actual THL CWC), where the winner will get a $25 PSN card. Without further ado, here are the rules. General Rules: Spoiler All dates are based on GMT. When signing up, please state what attraction(s) you're participating in. You can compete in as many or as few as you'd like. For all attractions, sign-ups are closed the second the attraction starts. Unless told otherwise, each attraction will be using the current THL ruleset in terms of scoring. Base Score: Bronze = 1, Silver = 2, Gold = 6, Platinum = 12 Rarity Bonus: Common = +1, Uncommon = +1.3, Rare = +1.5, Very Rare = +3, Ultra Rare = +6 Games with a top-50 time of under six hours won't count. No cross-saving, but like past holiday specials, I will allow using multiple versions of the same game. In the event of a draw, the winner will be determined based on platinum count, followed by who earned their last point first. The bot for this event is currently finishing production. While I don't foresee any rule changes, there may be some minor tweaks based on what the bot is capable of. I will notify participants of any changes if they happen to come up. Attraction One: Couples League - 12/9 - 12/13 - Doubles Spoiler Trophies only count if both players earn a trophy from the same game. Trophies will count regardless of stack. If both players earn the same platinum, the platinum is worth double points after rarity bonus. For example, a common plat would be worth 26 points for each teammate. All other THL rules apply. Couples League Teams Spoiler Sibling--⭐ @Fuwafuwa-no-Neko and @Ellie-nyan jemthejerm @jemmie and @Sebastian ThE PrOfEsSiOnAlS @Stand_User3 and @Beyondthegrave07 Flex_Dsavior @Flex_Da_Brent and @Warpedsavior Attraction Two: Rainbow League - 12/14 - 12/18 - Singles Spoiler Each day, only certain types of trophies can be earned. Bronze Trophies - Days 1 and 4 Silver Trophies - Days 2 and 5 Gold Trophies - Day 3 Platinum Trophies - All Days If you earn a trophy on the wrong day, it will be worth negative points. For example, a common silver on day one would be -3 points. All other THL rules apply. Rainbow League Participants Spoiler @Fuwafuwa-no-Neko @Berendsapje @jemmie @UnboundedCash99 @Stand_User3 @Sebastian @Flex_Da_Brent @Jello @Beyondthegrave07 @Warpedsavior @ShogunCroCop @VigilantCrow Attraction Three: Trophy Archery - 12/19 - 12/23 - Singles Spoiler At the start of each day, a random number will be chosen between 0-100 (rounded to the hundredths place). Points will be earned based on how close a trophy's rarity is to the "bullseye". Getting the exact rarity is worth 20 points Within 1% is 10 points Within 5% is 5 points Within 10% is 3 points Within 20% is 1 point Platinum trophies will earn a x10 bonus. Traditional THL scoring and rarity bonuses do not apply. Trophy Archery Participants Spoiler @Fuwafuwa-no-Neko @Berendsapje @Dzware @jemmie @UnboundedCash99 @Stand_User3 @Sebastian @Flex_Da_Brent @Jello @Arctic Cress @Ellie-nyan @Beyondthegrave07 @Warpedsavior @ShogunCroCop Attraction Four: Team Deathmatch - 12/26 - 12/30 - Triples Spoiler I should leave a disclaimer here that this attraction is by far the most complicated of the four, so much so that participants will be required to join the CWC Discord server in order to properly compete. I will dm invite links to those who sign up for this one. Each team member on each team will have one of three roles, Gunman, Medic, or Fighter. Teams can either let me know which roles they want when signing up, or I will choose randomly at the start of the event. Teams can not have multiple of the same role. Each team will start with 100 points. Every six hours, the points participants earned will not immediately go towards their current score but will instead go into a point bank. Medics can withdrawal these points to add to their team's score. One point out of the point bank is one point added to their team's score. After the first 24 hours, Gunmen and Fighters can withdrawal from their point bank to attack another team. For Gunmen, one point out of the point bank subtracts one point from another team's score. Gunmen do not have cooldowns, meaning they can attack multiple teams in quick succession. For Fighters, one point out of the point bank subtracts two points from another team's score. Fighters must wait 12 hours between each attack, meaning they can only attack one team at a time. If a team's score hits zero, their team is eliminated. The winning team is either the last team standing or the team with the most K.O.s at the end of the week. All other THL rules apply. While not required, it's strongly recommended to update your profile prior to each six-hour period so that scores are as close to real time as possible. The bot commands used to heal, attack, etc. will be explained in the CWC Discord server prior to the event. Team Deathmatch Teams Spoiler Shrimp Beats Medic - @jemmie Gunman - @Kent10201 Fighter - @Sebastian Participation Ribbon Medic - @Stand_User3 Gunman - @Ellie-nyan Fighter - @Beyondthegrave07 Great Rainbows Medic - @UnboundedCash99 Gunman - @VigilantCrow Fighter - @Jello Supreme Gentlemen Medic - @Warpedsavior Gunman - @Arctic Cress Figther - @Flex_Da_Brent CWC: 1/1 - 1/4 Spoiler The winner(s) of each attraction will be able to compete in the CWC. If someone wins multiple attractions, they will get an extra life for each attraction they've won. If someone wins all four attractions, they will automatically be crowned the winner. In addition, if someone places in the top five in any of the attractions, their name will be entered into a raffle to be the LEGENDARY final participant. Those who are already in the CWC will be ineligible for this drawing. Using traditional CWC rules, participants will earn points each day, and at the end of each day, the bottom two scores will be eliminated. Scores will then reset, and the cycle will repeat until a winner is crowned. Once again, special thanks to @Froopy the Pogfish for making this event possible. This may look overwhelming to some, but hopefully, there's a little something here for everyone. And who knows? If one or more of these attractions end up being wildly successful, they may even come back someday in a more long-lasting format (maybe). Popular Post Fuwafuwa-no-Neko
First off, thank you for taking the time of setting this all up and hosting the annual Hunters Holiday Special. Secondly, I one-hundred-percent completely agree with the Summer Tag Team 2020 event being called revolutionary . I'd like to sign up for: - Couples League Team, with me and @Ellie-nyan as couple. - Rainbow League, seems like the only attraction where you can get below negative points but as long as I earn the right trophies on the right day I should be fine right, riiiiiight?! - Trophy Archery, this one will be very depended on the number that's being drawn, definitely has the most random element in it. - Team Deatmatch, Bench me please as I don't have any teammates yet, I'm also fine with being either one of the roles (Gunman/Medic/Fighter). Convoluted? Ambitious? Some say Jem's events don't make sense… others well, agree on that. But I think they are an interesting look into pushing the boundaries, testing the limits, questioning the status quo of what a trophy event looks like and should be. This will be my second time participating in a @jemmie - hosted event and I'm definitely looking forward to it =D. Neko.O

I'll be the first to admit that this event is basically me experimenting the potential of how a bot can support a trophy event, but what's wrong with that? As the saying goes, "there may be something interesting at the bottom of the lake, but you won't know until you dive in." That's a saying, isn't it?
Berendsapje
Well, guess I'll give it a shot. However, after a long and hard brainstorm, I've decided to only participate in the Rainbow League and the Archery League. Mostly by virtue of having about as much friends as I have dignity. The fact that I don't want to hold anyone back in a team event also helps. Someone has to be in last place though, and I'll gracefully accept that role. Now, tremble in fear of the 5 trophies I'll end up earning! *Insert Evil Laugh*

Dzware
Not sure if I'll actually be home during those days, but you can sign me up for the Trophy Archery anyways. Hopefully I can at least earn a few points, even if I'd only have access to my Vita lol

Also, also, some people seem to be confused about how Team Deathmatch works. To think of it on simpler terms, it's basically a survival game where you need to balance eliminating the other teams while making sure you have enough points left over to protect yourself. If anyone has any specific questions on how the points system works (or questions about any of the attractions for that matter), please let me know. DoctorDisinfect
I'm not expecting to contribute much in this event since my top priority is passing my exams, but I'd love to be carried to victory by someone else. 1. Couples Event: I'd like to go on the bench please. 2. Rainbow Event: Sign me up, though I will most likely have a negative score. 3. Archery Event: Sign me up, though I will most likely be last. 4. Team Deathmatch: I'd like to go on the bench please.

Flex_Da_Brent
Okay you got me, I'll probably end up being last everywhere though since I'll have to start focussing on my exams pretty soon but no harm in joining I guess, at least it will boost other people's confidence when they see my miserable results. You can already sign me up for the singles and maybe put me on the bench for the other attractions. I'm definitely interested in the team games as well but I don't like to drag other people down with me, so be sure to only add me to people who are fine to carry some serious dead weight. jemmie
We have acquired our gunman, @Kent10201! Arctic Cress
I'll join the Archery and the Deathmatch (bench) for events right now. I'll send you an invite to the CWC Discord server. Also, I've hinted at this before, but each attraction is in a sense a prototype for something even larger down the road (and a means to expand Froopy's bot in multiple directions). Both before and during the event, if people have any constructive feedback on the layout of any of the attractions, it would be appreciated. The most popular one I've been hearing behind the scenes is that there shouldn't be negative points in the Rainbow League. I'm not going to change the rules here, but stuff like that is nice to know in case the Rainbow League makes a sudden second appearance one day.
