Clarink
@Solarus755 Nice year for you I see. The Witcher 3 and Ghost of Tsushima in the same year! You are the xth person who I see didn't like Tales of Hearts R. You like the same Tales of games as I so I think I'll pass on this one. Let's hope Tales of Arise resurrect the franchise.

Yes it was definitely a great year for games! Reminds me of the late 90s and early 2000s, when a lot of big games would come out every year. I've been spoiled by the selection this year. Your mileage may vary, but Tales of Hearts R for me just didn't feel much like a Tales game at all. There are so many great tales games out there right now, that I would do a hard pass on this one until you try some of the other greats (Such as Tales of Berseria). I only tried this one because I wanted a JRPG for my vita, but should have gone with Trails of Cold Steel.
Popular Post Bombstriker
Piece of Cake Award: Resident Evil 3 -- Platinum: "So Long, RC" --- I only got 9 plats this year and a lot were old grinds from my backlog... this was the easiest of the bunch! It's Like Dark Souls Award: Terraria -- Platinum: "Completionist!" --- I've been working on this freaking game for years! It isn't the most difficult game in the world but it absolutely has it's moments of pure frustration! So happy to finally put this one behind me in 2020. Loved the game too but wow this one took forever!Bad Ass Award: Resident Evil 2 -- Trophy: "Hell of a Sheriff" --- Not the hardest trophy in the world but it was indeed difficult! Clearing out waves of zombies inside that tiny little gas station was a rush for sure. It took tons of attempts and a tiny bit of luck but I finally outlasted them all to snag this bad boy and one heck of a trophy. It was the last I needed to complete the DLC and felt great afterwards. NOT SO GREAT DURING! Grind of the Year Award: Farm Together -- Trophy: "It's a small world" --- "Unlock all your farm expansions"... There is a way to just join someone's farm right before they build their final expansion and net you an easy trophy & platinum but I did this legit without any cheesing and HOLY HELL was it a grind. Just when I was almost done unlocking my last expansion the game added some DLC adding in additional expansions for your farm! SO IT JUST EXTENDED THE GRIND! Man this one was rough and boring, fun game though, just boring to grind out for the plat. I suggest the cheese method. King of the Internet Award: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare -- WARZONE --- If you asked me just a couple years ago if I would be found playing a COD game again I would laugh at you. I fell in love playing Warzone with my friends just as almost everyone else has! It brought me back to the franchise I left MANY MANY years ago. COD dominated my online play this year and the prime reason why I didn't get more trophies in the year 2020. This game is to blame and I wouldn't have it any other way. Worst Online Experience Award: NONE --- Looking back on my 2020 sadly I have to say I didn't play many online games besides Call of Duty... would that mean it was ALSO the worst!?! Haha I'm not sure but I'm going to have to say none here. This was the least active year for me for trophies and as I already said above it was due to COD Warzone. Sorry!Sleeper Hit of the Year Award:Two Point Hospital --- I sank MANY MANY hours into this game and though at some points it was a grind it was a ton of fun. I randomly saw an advertisement for it somewhere and gave the trailer a watch. Was an instant buy, little did I know getting the plat would take so long but to me it was definitely worth it. Highly suggested for those who are into sim type games.Biggest Bomb of the Year Award:Resident Evil 3 --- With Resident Evil being my favorite gaming franchise I have to say RE3R was a pretty big let down. I don't think it was a bad game but so much was cut from the original and it seemed incredibly short for a full title game. With very little replay value here besides to get the plat, which was very easy also... I feel like this was a bomb from Capcom. Coming off of the amazing Resident Evil 2 Remake I expected a whole lot more.Best Trophy Image Award: Two Point Hospital -- Trophy: "JUMBO" --- "Reach $50,000,000 Organisation Value"... and yes that is a spelling error on the trophy description haha. So looking back at the trophies I unlocked this year it really shows who little I unlocked and that makes me sad. CURSE YOU CALL OF DUTY WARZONE!!! Worst Trophy Image Award: Akiba's Trip -- Trophy: "Pants Man" and a bunch of them... --- Look, the fact that Akiba's Trip is on my profile haunts me and it's thanks to my girlfriend who bought the game to play and ended up unlocking 3 trophies on it before she quit playing it... so being the trophy whore I am I had to go back and play this game to get the plat and OVER HALF of the trophy images look like the one above. Almost all of the bronze trophy images share that! I know this was an early game in the PS4 life but BLEHHH! So yeah... I'm going to pick the trophy "Pants Man" just because it has a dumb name to go along with it but like I said a bunch of others share that same image.Best Female Character Award: Resident Evil 3 -- Jill Valentine --- Say what you will about how short the Resident Evil 3 Remake was but as I said above the game was still good. Just didn't feel like a full game. Having said that Jill Valentine killed it! Her new face model looks bad ass and overall she lived up to the name of Jill Valentine who to this day I still think is one of the best female characters in gaming PERIOD! This year Jill kept the ball rolling. Awesome stuff.Best Male Character Award: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare -- Capt. John Price --- This dude has a swagger about him and always keeps a cool head under any situation. In the campaign of the game he comes off as one cool ass dude who always knows what's best. His voice acting is awesome too.Best Plat of the Year Award: Terraria -- Platinum: "Completionist!" --- I know this is an old game but looking back it took me over 3.5 years to finally get this platinum. Sure I wasn't playing it non-stop for that long but after over 3 years of off and on gameplay to finally nail this plat felt awesome. I have a ton of great memories playing this game over the years so it makes me happy I finally snagged the difficult platinum. Wurst Plat ov teh Yeer Award: Akiba's Trip -- Platinum: "Advent of the Akiba God" --- I am not an anime fan and like I said above the only reason I got this plat is because of trying to up my completion percentage. I hate to use the whole excuse of "It wasn't me, it was my girlfriend I swear" but IT'S TRUE!!! I ended up playing the rest of this game out after she barely played it just to get the plat. I feel dirty but hey it is what it is lmao! Most Anticipated Platinum of 2021 Award: Resident Evil 8: Village --- If you've read through anything I posted above you saw Resident Evil is my favorite franchise. I simply cannot wait to play RE8 come next year! I don't have a PS5 just yet so I guess I need to get on that huh!?!
Popular Post Cassylvania
I was going to cancel this year's awards, but I guess I can give this a shot. Piece of Cake Award: Batman: The Enemy Within Kinda has to be, right? Telltale wins this every year... It's Like Dark Souls Award: Kingdom Come: Deliverance It's funny because it's NOT at all like Dark Souls. Thematically anyway. At least in Dark Souls, your character eventually becomes good. Henry works the whole game just to get on the same level as his opponents. Bad Ass Award: Kingdom Hearts II Doing everything on Critical difficulty, including beating all of Data XIII, because I was too lazy to do two playthroughs is classic me. Grind of the Year Award: Marenian Tavern Story In a year of grindy games (My Time at Portia, Two Point Hospital, The Witch and the Hundred Knight, several Atelier titles), this one takes the cake and then some. The developers don't even try to hide it. Just look at the trophy list sometime and you'll see a game that has no respect for your time. King of the Internet Award: Castlevania: Harmony of Despair Don't play many games online (it was between this and TLOU), but this was less of a grind...barely...so it wins. Hooray. Worst Online Experience Award: The Last of Us Remastered Well, by default, I guess this one wins. It wasn't that bad, though. I had fun helping people in Discord, but our boosting sessions kept getting interrupted by people actually looking to play the game. What gives? Sleeper Hit of the Year Award: A Plague Tale: Innocence Admittedly, I kinda knew this was going to be an above average game going in, but it still surprised me. And in a year where a lot of other indie titles let me down, that was very refreshing. Biggest Bomb of the Year Award: MediEvil I have no nostalgia for this game, and I was still let down. Best Trophy Image Award: Persona 5 Royal - "The Phenomenal Phantom Thief" There are no wrong answers, unless it's a non-Persona 5 game. Worst Trophy Image Award: My Time at Portia - "My Time at Portia" My Time at Portia. Best Female Character Award: A Plague Tale: Innocence - Amicia de Rune So many waifus, but only one badass with a slingshot. Best Male Character Award: Kingdom Come: Deliverance - Henry I was originally going to go with Joker, and then I came across this Google image. My boy never looked better. Jesus Christ be praised, Henry! Best Plat of the Year Award: Persona 5 Royal It's a miracle this game hasn't swept every category, but it's the most fun I've had playing a video game in a long time. (And it's no coincidence that my interest in gaming began to plummet shortly after finishing it.) Wurst Plat ov teh Yeer Award: Marenian Tavern Story My expectations were low, but this game had about 10 hours worth of content spread across 80+ hours of gameplay. Easiest pick so far. Most Anticipated Plat of 2021 Award: Demon's Souls Remastered I bought a PS3 this year just so I could re-play the original. I'll be buying a PS5 for the same reason. Popular Post Jens
Well why not. Memory Lane is a fun road to travel on. Piece of Cake: Gris It's easy and short. Collectibles are the only challenge in this game and even those weren't bad. Honorable mention goes to Pic-a-Pix because I cheated like I've never done before... last one for sure. It's Like Dark Souls: Rad It's kind of a proof that I didn't really play a lot of challenging games this year. It's not difficult on its own, but the learning curve, the tedious completion and scarce sources of information on the internet really turned the whole completion into a challenge. Tough to see it all the way to the end, that kinda sums it up. Honorable mention goes to Tokyo Xanadu, but only because we picked Hard for no reason and it turned the extra end boss into hell. Bad Ass Award: Slay the Spire You don't need any reflexes or mad skills, you just have to be willing to learn through lots and lot of failures. But once you get a deck going on one of the most difficult ascensions (difficulties, kinda)... it really makes you feel like your skull can't hold all that brain you just got. Honorable mention goes to Yakuza 6. Being done with all 7 games has a certain Badassery to it Grind of the Year: Red Dead Redemption 2 Nuff. Said. I don't wanna talk about it..... holy moly. Honorable mentions go to Tales of Vesperia and Yakuza Like a Dragon (this will be a bad one...). King of the Internet: Degrees of Separation Playing this game front to back with the one and only @eigen-space while having my first spoken casual conversation in English ever? That's no fair contest dude, easy victory! Honorable (!) mention to Castlevania: Harmony of Despair though. Without Briste and Cassylvania out there this would've landed in the garbage bin. Worst Online Experience: That online mode just sucked hard. I honestly don't get how people enjoy it, and I'm not trying to be elitist about it. Honorable mention goes to Fall Guys. Not because of the game itself, but all the kerfuffle it created.... this amount of toxicity was ridiculous. Sleeper Hit of the Year: 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim I've only heard about this one by accident and man... what a unique game this is. I don't want to talk about it too much because it's probably best to experience without knowing too much about it. But that story dude... actually crazy. That's such an amazing effort, I don't think I've seen many like this one. Biggest Bomb: MediEvil I never experienced motion sickness in my life. But that performance + controls really made me feel bad... It's just so awkward in every way. Best Trophy Image: Medievil I only looked at platinums, but the whole list from MediEvil looks dope. If I would pick my top 30 images, all rarities included, MediEvil might take 20+ of those. Just throwing my second one in there (https://i.psnprofiles.com/games/ddf313/trophies/1Lb48e27.png) because I really like the mood of it. Worst Trophy Image: Gris The image itself isn't ugly, but from such an artistic game... that's kind of a letdown. Pretty much just failed to meet expectations. Best Female Character: Jill Valentine from RE3. It kind of wins by default. I played next to no games with female protagonists (at least talking ones) and well... she is one. I don't have very deep knowledge of RE overall so she just kinda got the job done as a protagonist... Well, what a glamorous victory that is, huh Best Male Character: Yuri Lowell from Tales of Vesperia He's so different from all those "Gotta save the world!" dudes out there, it was kind of refreshing. Different while still checking of all the right boxes, nothing wrong with him. Best Plat of the Year: Yakuza 6 Not exactly because of the game on its own. But the whole history behind completing all 7 main series Yakuza games... That was a journey that won't be reached ever again and will definitely be THE platinum of 2020 for us. Worst Plat of the Year: Moonlighter Take needlessly long grinds, no counters and broken trophies and you'll have the most disgusting stew of the year! Kind of sad because I liked the game by itself, the platinum was almost unbearable though. Most Anticipated Platinum in 2021: Pretty much only Trails of Cold Steel 4 is planned. This one will end such a looooong series too, so it would defeat a big amount of competitors, if there were any Edited December 7, 2020 by Jens
Popular Post Beyondthegrave07
Piece of Cake Award Sonic the fighters deserves this for obvious reasons. Just check out the fastest times. This was what EZPZs were like before Rata became a thing. No ReGrEtS.It's Like Dark Souls Bloodborne was my very first Soulsborne game so I guess this is as close to "It's Like Dark Souls" as it gets... I actually didn't think it was horribly hard either. I kind of had a wacky setup too being a Bloodtinge class and played with a friend for most of it. Not sure if it helped with the experience or hurt it, but I had a blast regardless. I felt like such a badass using a katana as my main weapon (chikage) and wiping the blood off my blade after a huge fight always felt bad ass af.Bad Ass Award https://i.imgur.com/UXTdjoA.jpg I didn't want to take up a whole page due to the size, but getting your 100th plat is pretty badass, right? Grind of the Year Catherine. It has to be Catherine. I remember triumphantly beating all of the Tower of Babel and then finishing Hard mode on Classic mode and wondering, "Where's my trophy?" I had to do it all over again on Remix mode on Easy, Normal, and Hard so another 3 playthroughs. Couple that with the Rapunzel levels and doing 128 stages of YT binging for solutions to all the levels and you have yourself a hell of a grind!King of the Internet I played this with a friend as mentioned earlier, and it was one of the most rewarding experiences I've ever had with a multiplayer co-op game. I know a lot of people think Bloodborne should be played solo, but I feel like you are really missing out if you never play it with a friend. We were both new to the game so it wasn't like I was being carried or that I just stood in the corner and watched him slaughter everyone. We really co-oped together to make this game a thrilling, intense multiplayer experience.Worst Online Experience N/A - I could put Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout just for how quickly I got bored of its charm, but I don't think it is bad enough to deserve such a reward. Sleeper Hit of the Year Gris is one of those games I feel like you either love or hate it. It's very Journey-like which is one of my favorite games on PS3 so I was immediately drawn to it. It shows Gris, a young girl, go through all the cycles of grief as she lost her voice (and something else, but I'll avoid saying for spoilers) and playing through this tiny platformer really makes you look at the world a different way which is one of the most power parts about gaming and why I would never say gaming is a "waste of time." This is a game that allows you to reflect on your own life and learn compassion and there's no way something like that could possibly be a waste of time. Biggest Bomb of the Year Tomb Raider Underworld is a top 5 worst game I've ever played on PS3... Maybe ever. Lol. I ran into so many glitches, trophies and non-trophies that there were times I had to just shut the game off because I was getting so frustrated with it. The game is hot garbage, and it's a shame that I expected more having played Tomb Raider (PS3) which I absolutely loved. The only good part about all of this is that I only paid $2 for it. and I still kind of feel ripped off tbh. Best Trophy Image Zone of Enders has to have one of the coolest platinum images in my collection. I love the anime style mixed in with the logo and it's just overall aesthetically pleasing to the eye. I wish more games added style to their plat images like this one. Worst Trophy Image I love Undertale. I absolutely love it, but it's trophy images are all dogs... No personality, no style just the same few images over and over. I know Toby Fox didn't like trophies and made some of these as a joke, but you could have at least made the images a little... better. Best Female Character Ken from Zone of Enders 2 was a very interesting character, and I loved the backstory with her father and her motives. She comes off as caring, cheeky, and a bit mysterious. I think her voice acting was probably the best in the game (none of it's super great tbh), but I enjoyed her personality more than my other choices like Frisk from Undertale or Gris who don't show any personality at all.Best Male Character Now are you really surprised here? I love everything about Sans from Undertale. His character comes off as kind of a laid-back jokester, but you can tell he also has a dark side to him as well... One you could learn about if you kill everything in the game. I loved seeing what I first thought of as a goofy character turn into this very complex person by the end of it. People say looks are only skin deep and I agree with that statement about Sans in my bones. Puns intended.Best Platinum of the Year I talked about how this was the biggest grind of the year, but I regret absolutely nothing. It's a top 5 game on the PS4 to me and I enjoyed every bit of the 100+ hours I put into it. Some of that was just for fun too. It's weird because I kind of want to keep playing it, and normally after long grinds I never want to see the game again. Weird, huh? I think when you find a game like that, it's a keeper! Worst Platinum of the Year Tomb Raider Underworld AGAIN!?! Yes. The platinum for this was legit bad. Let me just explain it like this... Game: "Oh, did you just collect that treasure?, well your stats say you didn't!" Doesn't count for trophy. Me: Okay, cool. Let me reload from my last save from 20 minutes ago...*Has to recollect 5 treasures* Game: "Oh, did you just collect that treasure?, well your stats say you didn't!" Doesn't count for trophy.. Me: Joke's on you I saved beforehand! Game: I didn't count one of those 5 treasures you collected from your old save. Me: Wait, did I save over my previous one and have to replay the chapter? Game: Yes. Me: FML, *Restarts entire chapter from a prior prior save.* Game: "Oh, did you just collect that treasure?, well your stats say you didn't!" Doesn't count for trophy. Rinse and repeat. This game should be like a 15 hour plat and it was probably more like a 25-30 hour plat due to this constant cycle of the game not counting my treasures toward the trophy. It was utter bullshit. The game in general was pretty shit as using cheats just broke the game in general, and literally, the game had no idea what to do at some points and would just randomly freeze. It was absolutely infuriating. I probably actually played through each chapter 3.5 times from this constant nonsense and I almost just quit completely. Honestly, I should have. Most Anticipated Platinum of 2021 This game has been sitting on my shelf for a few years and each year I tell myself I'm going to play it. Cheers to 2021. Hoping it will finally be the year! Popular Post Mesopithecus
This year has probably been one of my favorite years in gaming Piece of Cake Award Life is Strange: Before the Storm To be fair, the piece of cake award could've gone to a number of titles on my list, however I think it's fair to say that Life is Strange: Before the Storm was by far the easiest game. The hardest part was actually suffering through some of the cringe dialogue...I have to admit I did not enjoy this as much as the original It's Like Dark Souls Vampyr I'm absolutely copying other people in here for this one (if only I had completed Bloodborne!) The platinum was a little bit annoying due to the Not Even Once trophy, so you're low leveled throughout the game. Weirdly I had more issues with the random enemy mobs than I did for the bosses, oh and the crashing...the constant crashing. Bad Ass Award Monster Hunter World: Iceborne This whole game made me feel like a bad ass, especially slaying all the elder dragons. There are plenty of cool moments to be talked about here for me from mounting monsters, upgrading weapons and becoming pretty powerful, not to mention I had an easier time than most with crowns so that also made me feel like an RNG badass. There is a very good reason this game became my #200 platinum Grind of the Year Gauntlet Whilst not an overly long game, the grind by far overstays its welcome. I completed the story levels and endless mode with a couple of great friends who also needed the trophies, it didn't even really take us all that long, but the grind afterwards was just abysmal and unnecessary - killing 15k of each enemy etc. A prime example of where a grind artificially lengthens a game King of the Internet Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout Without a shadow of a doubt, this has been one of my favorite games this year. Not only was it a lot of fun to play, but I also met a few people through this game that I've played other games with since. It was fun to squad up and play - it also took a lot of stress off when we were all going for Infallible. I still revisit this game from time-to-time to play too. Worst Online Experience I've not had a bad online experience this year Sleeper Hit of the Year Bugsnax I honestly thought this was going to be a meme game, I never had any interest in this from most of the trailers, but as it got closer to launch and I watched more about it I just knew I had to play it. I was expecting it to be average but it really took me by surprise, I loved the story, the characters, the gameplay, catching all the bugsnax. Such a fun and chill game, but also quite horrifying really. Biggest Bomb of the Year Warriors All-Stars I was expecting way more from this game, but in the end it was just repetitive and annoying, and the story was very mediocre. My thumb still hasn't recovered from mashing the square button Best Trophy Image Atelier Ayesha: Alchemist of Dusk This could have gone to a few games tbh, but I really like this image a lot Worst Trophy Image Demon Gaze II It was so hard not to give this title to Unrailed, but at least they kind of tried with the trophy images. Demon Gaze II just had the same image but colored differently for bronze, silver, gold and platinum - it's lazy. To be fair, Tales of Symphonia also did the same but I enjoyed that game way more, which is why Demon Gaze II is here. Best Female Character Madeline from Celeste I played this game recently and thoroughly enjoyed it, I loved Madeline as a character and her journey (and I found the game pretty challenging too) Best Male Character Regal Bryant from Tales of Symphonia I loved all the characters from this game, but I loved Regal's character and story the most (I wasn't really going to put a character from Bugsnax here, I swear) Best Plat of the Year Overcooked 2 It was tempting to put Monster Hunter World again in this spot, as I really did find that platinum a joy to earn (and would stack it) but in wanting to give my list here some variety, Overcooked 2 is going to take this one. It purely was a joy to play - I did it all (base game and DLC) solo initially however played through again with friends to help one of them get the trophies and it added a new enjoyment for me. I know it has a PS5 trophy list so I do intend on doing this again when I (eventually) get a PS5 Worst Platinum of the Year Unrailed! This game seems to be praised highly on Steam, I'm not even sure why because it was so tedious to play - the only small saving grace is doing it co-op we all suffered through it together. The trophies are poorly implemented, the difficulties don't stack and the game is very repetitive and monotonous. It also crashes a lot (the game, not the train) and corrupts your save. Most Anticipated Platinum of 2021 Haven My husband and I intend on playing this together, either when we get a PS5 or when the game releases on PS4 Edited January 2, 2021 by Mesopithecus
Popular Post Yoey_666
Piece of Cake Award This game was a real piece of cake but I had a lot of fun with it. You just have to dance Conga and convince the other party-people to join your Conga-Line. Well, bit of weird but it was indie and pixelart. Was enough for me. It's like Dark Souls Well, I've seen that I only platted like 5 games which have a rarity <3% this year and none of them were some kind of hard or spectacular (sadface.jpg). Because of this I picked Salt and Sanctuary because.. well.. it is literally like Dark Souls, but only in 2D. Bad Ass Award Earlier this year I polished my Balls of Steel and finished this ugly piece of shit. Guess you have to be enough bad ass to even start it. Grind of the Year My grind of the year - without a doubt - was level 100 in THPS 1+2 remaster. Did it before they added more challenges to help reaching that goal. King of the Internet With more than 1200 played hours in this game, it still remains my online guilty pleasure and I sure feel like the king of the internet after scoring a sick aerial. Worst Online Experience I played this game with a friend in online coop cause it took ages to find a decent multiplayer game for our likes again. Sadly the online performance was some kind of terrible. So I had to actually chose this one. Sleeper Hit of the Year I am just in love with pixel art and indie games. I even love indies more than every AAA game and with additional pixel art, you get me nearly every time. Still, I don't know every game of this genre and so I was completely surprised when I found Sparklite in a sale. A partly procedural generated pixel art zeldalike indie game. Really enjoyed it and for sure one of my most beloved surprised I found this year. Biggest Bomb of the Year Unravel Two. I knew before that this game was not like the first one and trophy wise a lot bigger challenge. Why it was a big bomb for me was because of the performance, there had been serious lag spikes in nearly every level on my PS4 Pro and on the last level the game crashed every try on the same fucking place !! I was only able to finish it because I had my old PS4 Slim in our bedroom as media console and the game was not crashing there. I was so goddamn glad when I was finally able to delete this. Really sad in comparism to the first game. Best Trophy Image The plat from My Friend Pedro. Perfectly describes my face when I finished it. Worst Trophy Image All trophies from Monster Boy and the Lost Kingdom. Every trophy image looks like the one above, but only with the respective trophy color. The image above is plat. Rest is the same in gold, silver and bronze .. Best Female Character Anne from Forgotten Anne. A beautiful game with a touching story about forgetting. Best Male Character I played as fucking Bud Spencer & Terence Hill, what else is there to achieve. Best Plat of the Year Has to be this one. The original games defined my life in a way I won't miss until today. Wurst Plat ov teh Yeer I copy from my biggest bomb shit this year: Unravel Two I knew before that this game was not like the first one and trophy wise a lot bigger challenge. Most Anticipated Plat of 2021 As I said I enjoy a good indie pixel art game a lot more than every AAA game. I backed this on Kickstarter back in May and it got delayed to January 2021 two weeks ago, so this is surely one of my most anticipated plats in 2021. Looks so goddamn fantastic. Go check it out and support the game when it comes out ! Thanks for the thread. Keep enjoying games as long as you can guys and girls. Stay safe. Popular Post Yuna4353
Piece of Cake Award This is a weird pick because I started it in 2019 but finished it this year but it definitely easy as it just going through the stories, and not too many choices. It's like Dark Souls So this is not the only time I mention this series (honesty most of my awards may go to it because of its impact), but when I first started this series I had really major issues with how the combat worked, and I just glad I got help in knowing what to do. Bad Ass Award If anyone knows this series and its S Crafts they are some of the most badass things you can see in a JRPG Grind of the Year Giving this to some of the substories in this game because I will be honest the substories in this game were not my favorite, and they had some grind aspects t it that I had to spend morning finishing up a set of the same minigame substories. King of the Internet and Worst Online Experience Combing these two categories because this is the only online game I played this year, so I cannot really say a best and worst because it just the only online game I played Sleeper Hit of the Year I know I mentioning t his series a lot (it comes with playing not too many games this year), but when this series does not get that much attention, and when you get into it more, and start to fall un love with the world it hooked me into this series, and cannot recommend it enough. Biggest Bomb of the Year So this game is great, but playing it this year (when it an 11-year-old game) shows it ag so much that it is hard to like it too much. I need to play the second one before my PSNow is up (that another knockdown because PSNow is not a good service if you don't have the manpower) Best Trophy Image How to scare a sims player with triplets is I'm right. Worst Trophy Image This is from Sakura Wars really just changing the middle for its bronze, silver, and gold. It is simple and just meh. Best Female Character This is a weird pick because of how she placed in the story but it Eri from Yakuza 7. One of the best party members you could have in the game she is just a very useful character overall. Best Male Character Machias from Cold Steel for me. I think he had some of the best character developments in the series, and just that liking him as the games went on I just love this character so much that it just so great how Trails does its characters. Best Plat of the Year This goes to P5R because it is just a very great game done so well, and it was worth being able to replay it too. Also the milestone I hit was the day I got my PS4 in 2017 so it holds a special place now in my heart. Worst Platinum of the Year It kinda hard to pick the worst plat of the year because I only have 3 so I choosing Sims 4 because despite it being easy, I just think my love for the sims has fallen off throughout my years that I just don't want to play it as much anymore. Most Anticipated Plat of 2021 Glad that this game is getting it western release next year, and am happy to be back in another persona game after P5R this year. Popular Post DoctorDrPepper
Gonna try and not include any of the easy trophy bait games I played this year. Piece of Cake Award Ice Age: Scratt's Nutty Adventure My first platinum of 2020 was also my easiest if you dont count the obvious Ratalaika stuff. I played it while rewatching My Hero Academia and barely remember the game as it was pretty simple. Honorable mention to Marvel's Spiderman Remastered for PS5. My first ever autopop. It's Like Dark Souls Final Fantasy 7 Remake That hard mode was no joke Bad Ass Award The Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners At no point did the joy of stabbing zombies in the head in VR ever stop. You're just a non stop killing machine and its straight up fun. Grind of the Year Erica Playing through this interactive movie was real fun the first two times. Seeing the things I didnt see the first time. The next four runs of a two hour unskippable movie did start to tire me out. King of the Internet Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout Playing this with a group of three other friends and winning and losing together was so much fun during Lockdown. Worst Online Experience Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout Trying to then clean up some trophies by myself made me hate this game and everyone who plays it. Never got Infallible before they patched it. Given up ever trying. Sleeper Hit of the Year TIE Spiritfarer The best mix of Stardew Valley and The Good Place. The art style I can only describe as comfy and cozy. Loved this game. Maneater Turns out being a shark and just eating everything while Chris Parnell tells jokes is a good time Biggest Bomb of the Year TIE Watchdogs Legion I Liked Watchdogs 1. I Loved Watch Dogs 2. I tolerated Watch Dogs Legion. Just a bland useless world. The Walking Dead Onslaught Saints and Sinners was the best VR game I played this year. Ties with Astrobot for best ever. This Walking Dead VR was boring, sloppy and useless. Best Trophy Image WoW - X Men Origins I have no fucking clue what's going on in this picture and what it has to do with a World of Warcraft Easter Egg but I love it. It's goofy as fuck. Worst Trophy Image Wear the Purp - Whiteboyz Wit Attitude: The Pursuit of Money These guys both look like I would hate to be around them. Best Female Character Ellie - The Last of Us Part II Last of Us 2 is bar none the best story in a game ever made. It's a journey of emotions and revenge and Ellie is the perfect focal point. Best Male Character Jin Sakai - Ghost of Tsushima The other fantastic tale of revenge in 2020. The transformation from honorable unwavering Samurai to the man who will do whatever it takes to keep him people safe, even if it means abandoning his honor forever was a road I loved to travel. As an old school L5R fan, Jin was the Lion who became a Scorpion and I loved every second of his journey. Best Plat of the Year Personal 5 Royal You mean I get to play my favorite game of the generation all over again, with new content, AND I get a second platinum? Sign me the fuck up. Worst Plat of the Year Shenmue To quote Jeff Gerstmann, this game is a bullshit forklift simulator for assholes. Most Anticipated Platinum of 2021 Resident Evil VIII: Village I want more of what Resident Evil 7 brought. And it looks like i'm gonna get it. Fuck 2020.
Popular Post Berendsapje
Piece of Cake JUST A PHRASE BY POWGI (VITA EU) Yeah. I took part in a competitive event this year and didn't like where I was on the leaderboards, so I sold my soul and started spamming Rata and Powgi games. This was the easiest of the bunch, due to how the game was made, in which just guessing what letter you need is a totally viable strategy. Considering you can actually die in rata games, this one takes the cake. I'm not particularly proud of it, but no way am I hiding something that I spend money on. It's like Dark Souls F1 2016 This is basically just a placeholder, as I didn't really get any hard plats this year or anything. However it's hard due to how I got the plat. You see, there's one trophy where you have to beat the AI on the hardest difficulty, and you can just pick Monaco in the Rain and block the AI. Piece of Cake. However I didn't do it that way. Instead I actually beat the AI fair and square using real-life pit-stop strategies and a final-straight double overtake. Yeah, it does sound like something some B-movie director would write, but this is simply hard because of the fact that I made it hard. Bad Ass Award SLY 3: HONOR AMONG THIEVES (PS3) Another weird pick, but hear me out. This game had probably one of my favorite boss fights of all time in General Tsao. This fight (especially the part on the ground) took quite a while to get right, and boy did I enjoy it. The setting was great, the fighting mechanics in this game are really fun and he was one tough cookie. So considering one of the challenges had you fight him on half-health, I was in trouble. Once again, didn't really do anything spectacular this year, so this is my pick. Grind of the Year GRID AUTOSPORT Now this may be the most questionable one, as I still haven't done it, and won't do it by the year's end. For those that don't know, you need to get to level 250 in online here. That alone sounds like a lot, but know that a perfect race (no assists, difficulty maxed, won race) gives you 4000 xp at best, and you need 5 million xp. In fact, I eventually sort of gave up on boosting this one and am now using the Racenet Challenges to boost my level (currently level 204). However, once I get it it'll be one hell of an achievement. King of the Internet F1 2020 Alright so in my defense, I barely played any online games this year. However F1 is a series where I do actually enjoy the online for a couple of reasons. I'm decent at the game, and most people online aren't so I put myself at the back of the grid and always have these races where I finish top 5 amidst all sorts of chaos. I'm never good enough to win, so even if I do get taken out, it's not a big deal in the end. Worst Online Experience MOTORCYCLE CLUB This was more the fact that the game was horrid, as the boosting session I did wasn't actually that bad. However you still had to race against the AI. Honestly, just look at the game. Sleeper Hit of the Year ROGUE ACES This was easy. Rogue Aces was a PSPlus game from god knows how long ago, and also one of the more enjoyable games I platted this year. It's basically a Side-scrolling shooting game, and the voices were so cliche it just made the game funnier. Even though some of the trophies were actually pretty challenging, the plat isn't that hard overall. Biggest Bomb of the Year THE CREW 2 It's a game made by Ubisoft. Case Closed Best Trophy Image MAYO 2 PLAT Just look at it. Worst Trophy Image RIDE 2 PLAT Too lazy to come up with anything better, but I still put in more effort than whatever schmuck designed this trophy image, so it's fine. Best Female Character PERSONA 5 ROYAL: KASUMI YOSHIZAWA I won't go into why she's great (no spoilers), but she is. Also the one I chose to romance, and I have no regrets. Best Male Character PERSONA 5 DANCING: RYUJI SAKAMOTO Now, this is a bit of an odd pick once again, but hear me out. Firstly, the dude's dancing is hilarious, considering just how bad he is at it. Secondly, every bond event is almost fun personified due to once again, he's a bit of an idiot. But this game made him even more lovable than he was in Persona 5 Royal. Best Plat of the Year I had to bring this game up at some point. Trails of Cold Steel is becoming one of my favorite all-time games, and I honestly can't think of anything wrong with the 3rd installment. Great Characters, great Plot, awesome Music, and me staying up until 4 AM just to get the Treasure Chest Trophy. I loved everything about this game, and can't wait to finally plat 4. Worst Plat of the Year NASCAR 14 This is the only game I complained about in a status update, mainly because it deleted my save. The game is about driving in a circle (along with a lot of other factors, but I doubt many people involved in the sport realize that) and these people still manage to mess it up. The game is just straight up broken. Highlights that won't work, a patch that introduced a more accurate but also worse version of qualifying, game just wasn't well-made. Then again, it's made by the same people who did Ride to Hell 1%, so what can I expect, really. Most Anticipated Plat of the Year Not a single clue. I'm really not following what game comes out, and I'm too lazy to search for it online, so I'm just going to say Hajimari no Kiseki to be done with it.
Leon Castle
Piece of Cake Award Easy and fun, even the fight with Mira was easy(back then I heard Mira was a hard boss battle) It's Like Dark Souls Even with cheats, the Sith Master difficulty was no joke. Bad Ass Award I feel more like I unlocked "Ultra Instinct" after playing the new Savior Mode Tournament of Power mode and playing as Ultra Instinct Goku doing that godforsaken grind. Grind of the Year I damn those coins to hell. King of the Internet Best Online Experience is then you don't need to win and just fight, even if it's a pro player that can kick my a** straight to hell. Worst Online Experience Trying to do Tug at My Iron Heart Strings by myself, reminded me why I hate online modes. Sleeper Hit of the Year Granblue Fantasy: Versus I loved it since it was a Fighting game with a RPG Mode. Looking forward to Granblue Fantasy: Relink if it comes west that is. Biggest Bomb of the Year Meh, have no games that disappointed me this year Best Trophy Image Still think the same as last year. Worst Trophy Image Same as last year. Best Female Character Tied Ayanami (Azur Lane) Iroha (Samurai Shodown) Best Male Character Ezio Auditore da Firenze (Assassin's Creed) Best Platinum of the Year 脱獄者 Only game I played two versions at the same time, the JP PS4 for the plat and the West Switch for the story and understanding certain things that was not in the first game and Google Translate to translate the trophies. I have no regerts to play the game that way and I'm willing to do that again with Mary Skelter Finale or another game if the PS4 version don't come west but the Nintendo Switch version does. Worst Plat of the Year Nothing comes to mind Most Anticipated Platinum of 2021 Top 3(New Games) Spoiler Mary Skelter Finale (if it comes west or just the Nintendo Switch version comes west) Ys IX Lego Star Wars The Skywalker Saga Top 3 (Games from the backlog) Spoiler Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Z(last DB game left to plat) Dynasty Warriors 8 Empires(hopefully I get to it and finish it before Dynasty Warriors 9 Empires is out) Kingdom Hearts II(My Planned 200 plat)
Popular Post Spacey_Dweeb
Hmm.. something to do besides my actual job. Let's see here... Piece of Cake Award This game is very fun, not long, not overly challenging and a worthwhile experience. That's why I can easily recommend it as a great choice for a game that you'll actually want to play that is also a piece of cake to get a platinum in. It's Like Dark Souls Award Beat Saber was a platinum I thought I might not be physically capable of achieving. I tried and gave up more than once. However, I eventually broke through the barrier and mastered some songs on the expert difficulty and pulled through. I've spent triple the time suggested in the trophy guide on it. The Bad Ass Award While not particularly rare, the trophy for escaping the sewers and police department as Hunk is for sure a bad ass moment. You are just non-stop moving. Shooting everything in your path. Figuring out which ammo needs to be conserved, which enemies can be dodged, which need to be put down on sight. It will keep your butthole puckered the entire run. Which is a literal bad ass. Grind of the Year With the songs and everything leaving the store, I wanted to get this game finished up sooner, rather than later. Man what a grind. Just hours and hours of songs playing. It was also very hard to get it to recognize vibrato; I had to literally grab my adam's apple and shake it to make myself warble enough to get it to count vibrato time. Glad it's over and I'll probably never reinstall it ever. King of the Internet I've spent nearly 200 hours on this game so far, and almost the same for its predecessor. I have a group of friends who all like this franchise a lot, so I can find someone to screw around with pretty much every night I want to. I'll probably put a couple hundred more hours into it before the eventual The Division 3 release. Worst Online Experience I don't want to throw this game under the bus, because I feel it is underrated and more people should have given a chance. However, this is the same reason I have to poo poo the online experience. Match-making was slow and games could be hard to find. You must enable cross-play to even have a chance of a quick match-up. There was a resurgence of interest when it hit PS+, but I think that will not last much longer. The servers are good once you are playing at least, but it will go back to where you are playing matches completely solo against a full team of bots soon. Sleeper Hit of the Year I knew that Dragon Quest had a reputation as a good series of RPGs, but I got way more than I was expecting. Man what a wild ride. I had a great time with this game. I highly recommend you guys give this a shot. It's well worth the lengthy time investment. Biggest Bomb of the Year I think it's indisputable that this game did not get the reception that everyone thought it would. I ended up canceling my pre-order in late November. Just something was stopping me from being hyped and I had thought there's got to be something wrong in the back of my mind. I didn't anticipate the actual drama surrounding the game though. Just wow. I can't believe a highly anticipated AAA game from a studio of good repute would be the game that gets pulled from the PSN store due to quality issues. Best Trophy Image I just like the meme. I bought the shirt back when it was Amazon. I eventually had to bin it because I was losing track of large stretches of time and waking up with the taste of fresh blood in my mouth. Worst Trophy Image The Spider-Man games are great, but have some very dumb trophy images. I know it's not super important, but Insomniac can do better! Best Female Character Kassandra was really well voiced and animated. By the end of the game, I felt like I actually knew her. She's very interesting. She has a bit of an ego and can be snarky and crude. However, she has a softer emotional side as well. I just enjoyed spending time with such a dynamic character. Best Male Character Insomniac did a great job with Miles Morales. I am not a giant comic book fan and have no real concept of why and how two Spider-Men would co-exist. This game helped me come around see the value of it. It's great to see some different backgrounds and cultures being represented. I enjoyed the focus on the Harlem community and left the game not only understanding Miles, but thinking he BELONGS there. Very much reflected by the in-game mural. Favorite Plat of the Year I played about 150 hours of Dark Souls Remastered this year and was having a great time. Even when I finally got the platinum, my attitude wasn't like "FINALLY I CAN MOVE ON!" like it is for most games. I was more like "Well, I guess that's it..." I will cross my fingers for a Blue Point Games remake, because Demons Souls looks AMAZING! Wurst Plat Ov Teh Yeer I never bought this thinking I'd be excited to get the plat, but I wasn't expecting to hate it by the end. Since I could not get an actual tournament of the required size going in the game, I spent just as much time creating fake email addresses and PSN accounts as I did playing actually chess, to get the 32-player tournament win for the final trophy. Most Anticipated in 2021 I can't wait to jump back into the world of Horizon Zero Dawn! I've platinumed the original game twice and still tempted to go back for a third helping. Alternatewarning
Piece of Cake Code: Realize - Future Blessings While not a bad game, I didn't realize going into it that it was a fan disk and didn't really have any 'options'. Still a decent game but even less interactive than most visual novels which is saying something. Had I known that ahead of time I would have been a little less disappointed I think. It's Like Dark Souls Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony While it's not the hardest game I've played, it's the hardest game I played this year. Aside from what I want to put here but...that game is going to be platinum-less for another year as I continue to struggle. V3 isn't that hard itself but the additional game modes just require a lot of...a lot. It's a lot of game mechanics to all remember plus some RNG. Bada$$ award Time's Teller - Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep I put this game on the backburner for literally years. I had everything done with Ventus except this trophy, beating the Unknown Figure. I tried and tried and tried and finally had to move on to the other games. Well, I came back this year with no practice, no nothing. Just booted up the game and took on the Unknown Figure and won in one go. Now I still need to do that two more times but I was quite proud. Grind of the Year Cyberdimension Neptunia: 4 Goddesses Online I love Neptunia games. I'm intending to plat nearly the entire series. What I do not love is how bullet spongey the bosses tend to get. Especially in the side games like this that have a different combat style. Bosses should not like 45+ minutes in an action game. Especially when it's not the same 6 or so bosses just recolored over and over. King of the Internet / Worst Online Experience None, I don't play online, no PSPlus anyway Sleeper Hit of the Year Return of the Obra Dinn I picked this up on sale since I heard a few people really enjoyed it. But man was it interesting. Harder than I thought it would be but really, really interesting. I loved the whole concept and how things got put together. It seemed to easy at first but then it started to get nuts. Biggest Bomb of the Year None - I enjoyed everything I played this year. Best Trophy Image All of them - Final Fantasy XV While the trophy images aren't all unique, they are quite beautiful and detailed. Of specific note are the character-specific DLC trophies that I've shown down below Worst Trophy Image The Ashen Chevalier/Any - Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel II I love this game but all their trophies are just colored trophies. And I know they used the same images for I, and I suspect for III and IV as well. If you're going to make me put so much work into a plat, at least make it look nice! Best Female Character Alloy - Horizon Zero Dawn I loved Alloy. She's cool, she's interesting, and I really like her animations. She's very willing to solve any and all problems herself out of a sense of curiosity. Best Male Character Ignis - Final Fantasy XV He's technically playable so I'm going to consider it. I love Ignis. But specifically, his transition from the hyper-competent retainer to burden to blind hyper-competent retainer was just unique. I really, really liked that they actually, permanently, disabled him. Best Plat of the Year Kingdom Hearts III While I'm not the biggest fan of the new art style I will always, always love a new Kingdom Hearts game. And it was that nice solid middling difficulty level where parts were hard but I didn't want to throw my controller. And the plat required yo to be decent at minigames but not amazing which is absolutely great. Wurst Plat of the Year Cyberdimension Neptunia: 4 Goddesses Online I don't play games I don't like so take this with a grain of salt. I will say the game is better than the plat. Fighting the bosses at the end over and over and over was just too much and left me a little sour. Most Anticipated Plat of 2021 Edited December 22, 2020 by Alternatewarning
KennethMcCormick
Now that I've finished CP2077, here's my take on this year. Piece of Cake Award Watch Dogs: Legion My 150th plat and first one on PS5. No surprise there, it's on par with the previous two; not very challenging but rather fun to play. And what with the "Brexit" and COVID induced restrictions, it seemed as good a way as any to go pub crawling in London. It's Like Dark Souls Award Yakuza 4 I know, I know. The game's not difficult at all, and the previous years I chose Nioh or Bloodborne because they were "soulslike", but maybe I got better at those games, or maybe Code Vein, Lords of the Fallen and Nioh 2 are easier, but I didn't find them hair wrenching. Yakuza 4 was real easy, until the very last of the Ultimate Skill missions, where I always miss a few seconds to beat the last boss. I will go back to it eventually, but I swear my forearms hurt after hours of trying to get to the bloody geezer in time to beat him to a pulp. Bad Ass Award ex aequo: Nioh 2 and Shadow Tactics I can't decide between the two because the gameplay is so different, but both had me sometimes feel like a "baus", either because of beating an enemy with an almost totally depleted health bar and no healing left in an epic fight (Nioh 2) or finally finding a way to execute the perfect plan with my team (Shadow Tactics). Grind of the Year Award Borderlands 2 "Grind of the Year 2020", or "2020, the Year of the Grind", I can't figure yet... COVID cost me my job, and lockdowns gave me time to grind, and grind I did... Borderlands 2, Nioh 2, Predator: Hunting Grounds, Red Faction: Guerrilla, Warframe... Even Stellaris with it's damn RNG and AC: Valhalla with it's nearly 800 collectables could qualify. I'll go with Borderlands 2 because at times it was really the one that felt the most like a grind (and also because it's quite recent). King of the Internet Award Warframe I hadn't played the game for six years, and I was impressed by the amount of work DE put behind it. It's far from perfect, matchmaking feels like a lottery (well, actually, that's true of most games...), but I liked the way most of the players were acting, how the nice, efficient and/or helpful quickly made you forget the self absorbed wankers who wouldn't know an objective if it hit them in the face. Worst* Online Experience Award (* but not really) Predator: Hunting Grounds Bought the game not expecting much, but it was released around my birthday and I love the first film, but not expecting much isn't the same as asking for a major disappointment. The one thing that saved the experience from being an utter torture was the team I found. Efficient, dedicated and funny, it was a great group to play with, and why I hesitated to call this game my worst online experience of the year. Let's say it's the worst online game I played this year, but with very cool people. Sleeper Hit of the Year Award The Outer Worlds I didn't expect much from his one either, except maybe a wee bit more because I just love old school Sci-Fi films (Forbidden Planet and the likes). But what I found was a revival of what I expected from a Fallout game, with a lot of humour, nice graphics, good gameplay... Loved it all the way and eagerly waiting for the next DLC. Biggest Bomb of the Year Award Predator: Hunting Grounds I found the game mechanics bad, it lacked maps, it lacked variety... Bad experience. I could have chosen Cyberpunk 2077, as it is an AAA game, which P:HG isn't, and that it was supposed to be the game I had been waiting for the past thirty years, but I played it on PS5, so I had like maybe 40 to 50 crashes and a few - mostly vehicular - glitches, but to be fair it was less than with Fallout 3, which remains one of my favourite games, and I had great moments in Night City. I would I guess most certainly call it a PR bomb for CDPR, though... Best Trophy Image Award Hidden Hopes (Nioh 2) Of the games I played this year, I'd say that the ones that had the best artwork were (in alphabetical order) Assassin's Creed: Valhalla, Code Vein, Cyberpunk 2077 and Nioh 2. Worst Trophy Image Award Holy Feces! (Manual Samuel) Granted, it makes sense to make a trophy called "Holy Feces" look like crap, but still... Best Female Character Award Cassia (Blackguards 2) Ha! Tough choice! I could of course go for the Abby/Ellie thing, but to tell the truth, I thought TLOU2 was such an orgy of violence that I couldn't relate to them (at least, when you play as Trevor in GTA V, you know you play a psycho for fun, and it wasn't the case here). My favourite female character in that game is Maria, and you don't play as her. The vast majority of the other games I played this year had custom protagonist, so male/female doesn't apply, and the cast of Man of Medan is too cliché for me to choose one of the two girls (small preference for Fliss, though). So by default Cassia, from Blackguards 2, who barely qualifies for 2020 (game finished early January). She's also a psycho, but at least she gets to be a tyrant as well. Contender: V., from Cyberpunk 2077, if you allow games with custom characters. Best Male Character Award Men NZ All Blacks (Rugby Challenge 4) Same as with the Best Female Character, most games I played this year don't really apply, as you get to choose your character's gender. As Samuel or the blokes from Man of Medan or Lords of the Fallen didn't impress me that much, I'll go with my favourite men Rugby Union team, that I played a lot in Rugby Challenge 4. Contender: V., from Cyberpunk 2077, if you allow games with custom characters. Best Plat of the Year Award Nioh 2 Just love the game, the attention to detail, the ambiance. Can't wait for the remastered PS5 versions that are due in a few months. Wurst Plat ov teh Yeer Avart Predator: Hunting Grounds This third nomination shouldn't come as a surprise given what I've written before, so 'nuff said. Bonus Category: Best Teammates of the Year Award Just a shout-out to some of the great teammates I met this year and that made grinding easier, and even fun thanks to mics and chaotic use of messaging, and/or helped me with tough to get trophies. Those on PSNP, at least, and with these lists, you always manage to forget someone, so I apologise in advance for that. Predator: Hunting Ground: @Chucky-B-86, @det0xxp, @F-S-17, @Kennamer, @RatDressy, @thePirateKing212, @xX_Pvt_Drake_Xx Red Faction: Guerrilla: @Chucky-B-86, @juniordrfanatic, @kassanowa07, @kenseizenkai (miss our discussions about films ), @me-connor2 Uncharted 4: A Thief's End: Would never have gotten the ...It trophy if not for the amazing @TXsagrada. Cheers, mates! I'm a litle bit at a loss, there. Not really hyped about anything announced yet, perhaps a little bit curious about Stray. So that could be this one, or the PS5 version of CP2077, Nioh Remastered or some games I've had in my backlog for a long time, like Prey, Torment, Rebel Galaxy... That kind of things. That is all. Stay safe and happy holidays where and when possible. Edited December 27, 2020 by KennethMcCormick sp
JaM
Hmmm... am I hallucinating? I felt that there was another award, the best PS+ game award??? *shrug* anyway, I was about to post here after the Platinum Rain Day but I started Doraemon Story of Seasons and I dunno if will be able to finish it on time...and well, I did it... PIECE OF CAKE AWARD More like, Bottle of Mayo Award, amirite No shame though. Plat rain day boosted my Number of Platinum, luckily this game was released, since my last name is actually Mayo, I have to put this to my Milestone. Honorable Mention... uhmmm... *insert POWGI game here* IT'S LIKE DARK SOULS BLASPHEMOUS Why? REQUIEM AETERNAM and BRONZE MEDAL. Sure it it not that tough, but I really struggled with fighting bosses without using Potions (since oftentimes Metroidvania games allows you to) and add it with speedrun *sigh* Great game though. Honorable Mention: Nioh which is like easier version of Souls games BAD ASS AWARD Melody of Memory - Tension Rising ALL EXCELLENT (PROUD) This year made me realize that I will never get another DJ MAX and Superbeat Xonic Platinum, I need a win in rhythm department this year, I haven't get the plat of the game yet but I really felt so good getting ALL EXCELLENT on a 15-Star song. GRIND OF THE YEAR MARENIAN TAVERN STORY To be fair, comparing to other years, I didn't have much grind fest this year (or I guess I got used to it?). Anyway... Don't be fooled by those Uncommon Kemco Platinums... This game is actually tough and well... grindy. My favorite(or one of) Kemco game so far though. Dishonorable Mention... hmm... Errand Tail, err I mean Fairy Tail I guess. SLEEPER HIT(S) OF THE YEAR CHASM | TIMESPINNER I actually have another entry on this one but it deserved a better award so I will give this award to these 2 Metroidvania gems. I will not be surprised if you haven't heard of these 2 because I am also unaware that these 2 exists. I just stumbled upon these very hidden gems on a sale. Highly recommended to Metroidvania lovers. Honorable Mentions: See Best Plat of Year Ara Fell - highly recommended to anyone that love old school turn base RPGs LEGEND OF THE TETRARCHS - pretty torn between this and Marenian as my favorite Kemco game so far. TOKYO XANADU - imagine if Adol from Ys and Rean from ToCS has actual personality. Pretty good right... that's Kou. DORAEMON: STORY OF SEASONS - maybe because of recency bias... I really loved it though. BIGGEST BOMB OF THE YEAR ARC OF ALCHEMIST I also have another bigger bomb entry on this one but it deserved a more deserving award so I will put this game on this one. if the previous award is for hidden gems, this game needed to be buried further... Dishonorable Mentions: See Wurst Plat Ov Teh Yeer ONE PIECE: BURNING BLOOD - the worst One Piece game I have played so far. They better stick with Musou... I am looking at you World Seeker BEST TROPHY IMAGE Click the Image for the game trophy page. WORST PLAT IMAGE Ara Fell I mean, lazy Kemco Plats are bad and Pallet Swap Plat Images are worse... but as much as I love Ara Fell... I cannot forgive them for copying the exact image of another trophy from your list. BEST FEMALE CHARACTER Kirika Towa Alma - Shining Resonance Refrain Inner weeb incoming... NGL, I liked this character cause... Saori Hayami is her VA. Runner ups are obviously weeb choices as well... Juvia from Fairy Tail, and Nami or Robin from One Piece games BEST MALE CHARACTER Haku - Utawarerumono Hands down. My favorite Video game character this year. His character development is the main reason I loved the game so much. BEST PLAT OF THE YEAR UTAWARERUMONO: MASK OF DECEPTION My detailed post about the game. My TRUE SLEEPER OF THE HIT WINNER. The SRPG gameplay(or Musou if you go with Zen) may not that great but this game's plot has the best plot I have played or errr read this year. Not a huge fan of Harem *stares at Sword Art* but I didn't mind the harem in this game. I was so invested in Haku's journey and character development that I got attached as well in other characters around him. I even hated Nekone as a character which I rarely do... the last character I hated so much was Clover from 9 Hours, 9 Persons, 9 Doors. I highly recommend this game. WURST PLAT OV TEH YEER Fairy Tail My Detailed Rant. The worst part is, I know what is it going to be after watching the trailer - Atelier Clone with repetitive gameplay and repetitive errands. But still, I preordered the game. Again, only play this game if it is on sale, you love Fairy Tail and has no other Atelier game to play. MOST ANTICIPATED PLATINUM OF 2021 Persona 5 Scramble Strikers I dunno why they had to change it, I prefer Scramble TBH. The only game I have been waiting for since it's release on Japan(well, aside from Doraemon Story of Season). I lost hope of the game being localized cause... COVID... but then again I remembered that this is Atlus we are talking about... they are going to milk this series til the end of time... so Yay! I might even preorder the game. Hopefully they port Persona Q/Q2 too... those games needs more love. Edited December 28, 2020 by JaM
Kristen Danielle
Well, I'd like to participate in this, but I only have three platinums on this brand new account, so for the other categories, I'll list games I'm working on and make sure to note that I haven't gotten the platinum for them yet. Categories for which I have earned the platinum on my chosen game will be indicated with . Piece of Cake I have not yet earned the platinum for this game, but I am well on my way there. I've found that this game has particularly easy trophies so far. Some aspects of it (mainly the collectibles) are kind of grindy, but not so much that it really bothers me and makes me want to quit. It's Like Dark Souls THE GHOST SURVIVORS DLC For this game, I did indeed earn the platinum, but I want to stress that this award goes solely to the game's DLC pack entitled "The Ghost Survivors," with emphasis on the trophy called "Hell of a Sheriff." I struggled with that final trophy so much that I eventually had to resort to SharePlay because it was so hard on my Generalized Anxiety Disorder. I do intend to return to it and try to earn the trophy myself one day, though. It's also important to note that the DLC is not part of the requirements for the platinum trophy in this game, so the platinum was fully earned by myself. Badass THE FOURTH SURVIVOR The scene at the end of Resident Evil 2's "The Fourth Survivor" scenario in which Hunk walks out of the police station with his rifle and kicks the front gate open in the midst of the entire city having descended into fiery chaos is entirely badass, especially when he hears his contact in the helicopter say, "I wanted to meet the Grim Reaper." Grind of the Year While I wouldn't call this game a grind in the sense of there being a lot of individual missions or collectibles, finally beating the game on Hard Mode was quite the grind for me. I would advance through the sections only to realize that when I got to the final boss, I was too low on ammo to defeat her, so this game required many save files and many restarts in order for me to work out a strategy by which I could save enough ammo and health for the final battle. When I finally beat the game on this mode, I screamed because I was so excited. I do have the platinum for this game. King of the Internet I have not platinumed this game and I have not participated in the co-op as of yet, but I anticipate this game being the one game with online trophies that I will enjoy. I currently have 37 out of 69 trophies for Dying Light and my friend @funboy1246 is supposed to help me on the co-op trophies later. Worst Online Experience This game is not listed on this new account, but that's because the online trophies on this game are the reason I even got a new account and started over in the first place. Everyone knows that EA is terrible when it comes to maintaining servers for old games and there was a time that they shut this one down entirely before bringing it back due to fan complaints. At the time that I started my new account, it was looking like the servers were going to stay down forever, so I gave up. Sleeper Hit of the Year THE ASSASSIN'S CREED SERIES I didn't really play any sleeper hits this year, but I can name one series that surprised the heck out of me and that was Assassin's Creed. I have always had an interest in true crime and unsolved murder cases as they pertain to criminology (my father was a police officer and got me interested in forensic investigation techniques), so while surfing the web and reading up on my favorite case one day, I happened upon an article showing that Jack the Ripper had been animated into a game called Assassin's Creed Syndicate. I decided that I'd like to check that out, but I wanted to understand the story leading up to it. So, I picked up the first two games in the series and promptly fell madly in love with everything about it. I LOVE this series with every part of my nerdy little history buff brain. Biggest Bomb of the Year RE: CHAIN OF MEMORIES Again, this is not a game I played in 2020, but as much as I love the Kingdom Hearts series, Chain of Memories changed the gameplay so drastically that I hated it. Best Trophy Images The trophy images that I really loved this year all came from the Resident Evil series, with my favorite from Resident Evil 0, Resident Evil, and Resident Evil 2 shown here, respectively. Worst Trophy Images Come on, Dying Light / Techland. Surely you can do better than this. Best Female Character This award has got to go to Claire Redfield in Resident Evil 2. She was most definitely the female version of the proverbial "Billy badass." Best Male Character Ezio Auditore da Firenze in his younger days during Assassin's Creed II is fine as hell. lol Best Platinum of the Year Because of Resident Evil 0's Hard Mode, its platinum was a really solid challenge. I enjoyed it very much and experienced much excitement when I finally earned it. Worst Platinum of the Year The fact that I completed the main game and was not even halfway done with the platinum and the fact that I got insanely bored with the tedious gameplay before I could earn it are the main reasons why Dying Light gets my Worst Platinum of the Year award. Most Anticipated Platinum of 2021 ASSASSIN'S CREED SYNDICATE AND JACK THE RIPPER DLC Assassin's Creed Syndicate's platinum will be mine sometime this year. I'm coming to get you, Jack! voodoo_eyes
Piece of Cake Passable at best. Very short and easy to plat. It's Like Dark Souls The Witness - Some of those puzzles were really annoying and a pain in the ass. The final area took me quite some time to get through. Bad Ass Award Finally defeating the Valkyrie Queen, for me surpasesed the feeling of beating flappy goat in Goat Simulator. Grind of the Year The drop rates on some of those items are just stupid. I spent over 10 hours just gridning equipmentdrops in this one. Killing the same mobs over and over. King of the Internet Didn't plat many games with online portions this year. For a change I didn't really have connection issues with a Milestone game. Worst Online Experience The online wasn't horrible, but the matchmaking was arse. Sleeper Hit of the Year This was a really cool and somewhat unique concept. Had a great time with it for the most part, albeit some technical issues. Biggest bomb of the Year I expected this to be much better. The characters were unlikable across the board and the subject matter seemed forced. Best Trophy Image Scheming Through the Zombie Apocalypse Worst Trophy Image Shenmue 2 - Due to the simple fact, that it is the same one as in the first game. Could've made it different or better for hte sconed entry, but instead they went with the same crap. Wins by default. Best Female Character Meve (Thronebreaker) Best Male Character Mimir (God fo War) Best Soundtrack Wurst Plat ov teh Yeer All of the contendors were shit. This one is just shit in it's laziest form. Best Plat of the Year Took me a while to get to this one, but finally did. Such a great game. Had a good time until the endgame grind and challenges. Hisuiryu
Piece of Cake Award: Call of Cthulhu I actually didn't play anything too brainless this year (even though I downloaded Telltale's Batman, I still haven't touched it!), so the award goes to a point and click with only a little bit of complexity... it's pretty mediocre overall, but not bad and certainly easy enough! It's Like Dark Souls: I am Bread Aside from an excuse to brag about doing it, this is definitely the most challenging game I completed this year! It's one of those titles that I was determined to finish because it was such a challenge, it's kind of hard to say whether it's actually a good game.... but that hardly matters when it's taking pride of place on my rarest trophy list Bad Ass Award: Resogun - Destruction Preventer Kill 10 Destroyers in one run in Protector mode This is one of the few trophies that haunted me from this game, and doing this definitely gave me that sweet, sweet adrenaline hit! Now if I could just do commando mode one day.... Grind of the Year: Trillion God of Destruction Honestly, whoever decided it was a good idea that all endings needed to be earned on 1 save file, thus making you play through 9 times needs their ass kicked! It completely killed what was an ok game in my eyes, all it needed was to have individual trophies for each character ending so you could reload just and continue...! Special mentions to Pox Nora for existing and the Arkham City challenge maps.... ugh. King of the Internet: Assassin's Creed III As I avoid most online like the plague, it's pretty slim pickings for this award - however I did actually enjoy playing wolfpack mode with my partner! It was a good addition to the online modes and I was very pleased to be able to play it almost exclusively to get all the online trophies. I'll be more than happy to play the mode again when I get around to AC:IV, even if it is a longer grind. Special mention to Borderlands which is always a blast with friends, but as it's also couch co-op I felt AC was a better fit for the award. Worst Online Experience: Pox Nora I know a few people feel my pain on this - a pretty mediocre-at-best online-only strategy game that is quite the grind trophy-wise. I'm thankful that the servers are stable enough to self-boost with a PC but the requirements to make a match count and the uninteresting gameplay leave very little going for this free to play title. Sleeper Hit of the Year: Guacamelee! A pretty old PS+ title really, I remember it had a lot of praise when it was given away but it just didn't appeal to me. However, for a few reasons I ended up playing it this year and I can honestly say it deserves the praise it got and then some! Metroidvania's can be hit or miss for me, so I was very surprised how much fun I had with it, and it had just the right level of challenge for me - I'm absolutely looking to pick up the sequel next year. Biggest Bomb of the Year: Time and Eternity It's quite hard for me to find an appropriate game for this category, so I've gone with a game I was originally excited to play when it came out... then I played it for an hour and never wanted to touch it again. I did however, as this year in my efforts to clear some low % games I played it, and it was as awful as my first impressions had predicted. Thankfully the trophy list isn't painful even if the gameplay experience is. Best Trophy Image: The Legend of Korra - Video Game Bender I'll definitely get this before the end of the year, so it totally counts! Despite the flaws of the game itself, the style of the trophy tiles for Korra is fantastic, and the plat in particular is one I especially love. Of course being a fan of the IP and the character probably gives me some bias, but it's definitely my favourite. And a special mention to a couple others below from Persona 5, Ghost of Tsushima, Trillion, Journey and Batman Arkham Origins. Worst Trophy Image: Lumo - "I've quit better jobs than this..." Just because a trophy is amusing doesn't mean it gets away with being ugly! Best Female Character: Horizon Zero Dawn - Aloy Finally finishing Ultra hard mode back at the start of 2020 allows me to put my favourite characters from possibly my favourite game here! Aloy is a fantastic protagonist in a compelling story, I find her relatable in many ways and was glad to see her journey. Special mention to Ellie from TLOU and Yuna from GoT as well. Best Male Character: Persona 5 - Goro Akechi Honestly it's rare for a character like Akechi to catch me off guard (and not be spoiled for so long!) - I enjoyed seeing his arc play out and was impressed by how it was presented, while I had expected something to happen, that was not it. I'll say no more for anyone that hasn't played though! Best Plat 100% of the Year: Little Nightmares What do you mean that's not a plat, close enough! Actually, I think for all the plats I got this year there was something memorably tedious or frustrating so I had widen my net a bit. However, Little Nightmares was genuinely a joy to play, compelling, creepy and wonderfully atmospheric, with a great set of trophies that focus on exploration (but nothing too unreasonable!) and one challenging speedrun I would re-earn this list in a heartbeat I genuinely can't wait for the sequel! Special mention for Horizon Zero Dawn, but I platted it a while ago, just finished up the DLC trophies this year so it doesn't count. Wurst Plat ov teh Yeer: Pox Nora As previously mentioned, tedious, grindy and entirely unfun - plus a bad interface to boot! Most Anticipated Plat of 2021: Horizon Forbidden West I doubt it comes as a surprise that the sequel to my favourite game of the generation, and possibly of all time, is my most anticipated game for next year - if I don't have one before then, this will absolutely be the title that causes me to buy a PS5.
Makilio
Piece of Cake Award Until Dawn Usually not a fan of visual novel-esque games (this counts as one of those right?), but a guy I was talking to highly recommended it, so I thought 'why not?' The story was pretty good, but I doubt I'll play any more like this. I kinda like some gameplay with my story, and sparse QTEs don't really count. It's Like Dark Souls Award Terraria I would say that I didn't really play anything *too* difficult this year, but I guess Terraria comes the closest. I haven't touched this on consoles since my Vita started to have drift issues and then my world's save file corrupted, but I picked it up when it was on sale for the PS4 and decided to finally get the platinum. I got a good chunk of my unearned grindy trophies boosted, but I still needed to farm the hard-mode bosses which I did solo. Thankfully I was able to transfer my character from the Vita which had some hard-mode gear which saved a lot of time. Bad Ass Award Uncharted Drake's Fortune - Crushing & Brutal playthroughs Moreso Crushing than Brutal since I used the tweaks, but I felt pretty good throughout the entire game during my two playthroughs. My favorite moment would be the shoot out in the building in Chapter 11 on my Crushing playthrough. I managed to make it through on my first attempt without dying despite being a blind playthrough. I didn't expect the last round of spawns, so I got ambushed pretty hard but was able to style on them. My performance against those last three enemies is probably one of my all time favorite gaming moments. Grind of the Year Award Record of Agarest War It wasn't as bad as Cross Edge, but it was still something. It was only 200 hours, but the only reason I played this game was to get the full transfer bonus for Agarest War Zero, which has been marinating on my trophy list for 6 years, which will probably take another 200 hours but will finally get my last lovely E to an S. The game also restricted you from how you could grind up until you get the true ending as there was a turn requirement. King of the Internet Award / Fall Guys & Don't Starve Together I've been playing both of these on PC a lot this year, and it's been a blast. I managed to get Infallible on Fall Guys (which means I probably should've played on console for that plat, but I'm definitely not doing that again), and I've been playing a lot of DST with friends since we've been quarantining real hard and thought we should suffer together. Worst Online Experience Award Fall Guys I mostly played it on release, and there were a lot of glitchy shenanigans and hacking going on. I haven't played much in season 2 or 3, but I imagine they've cleaned a lot of it up by now. Sleeper Hit of the Year Award Caligula Effect - Overdose The only thing I knew about this game before playing it was that it was like a budget Persona game, which honestly wasn't wrong and is extremely accurate. The story was okay and the battle system was pretty fun. Now where it really shined was the soundtrack. I'd honestly put it over P4 & P5's which had really good music, but most of Caligula's made it to my actual playlist. Biggest Bomb Award / Kingdom Hearts 3 & Final Fantasy 15 Square Enix has been dropping the ball on pretty much everything I've played lately that isn't Dragon Quest related. I finished up the DLC for FFXV, so I got to drag it through the mud again with my opinion of the game when I played as Ardyn. I've also learned that I'm not really a fan of Kingdom Hearts this year, as I didn't like 3 at all, and when I attempted to go back to finish one of the two playthroughs for BBS, that effort only lasted like an hour. I'm still wondering when I'll get around to finishing the DLC trophies for 3 cause it honestly might be awhile. Best Trophy Image Record of Agarest War - Consummate Consummator Ellis's face in this image is a total mood that describes 2020 accurately for me. Worst Trophy Image Dragon Quest XI While not a bad image by itself since it looks like a really nice book, but hey decided to use the image for every story based trophy, which I kinda don't like. Best Female Character Kuchinasi - Caligula Effect Her story arc was one of the best in the game, and her theme was probably my favorite track. Best Male Character Dragon Quest XI - Sylvando Sylvando needs no explanation. I recommend playing DQXI to anyone who hasn't so they can experience everything Sylvando has to offer. Best Platinum Uncharted Drake's Fortune Definitely the game I've had the most fun getting 100% this year. Shame it went downhill from there back in January ? Disgaea would be a close second for the description since I'm realistically going to stack it one day. Worst Platinum LittleBigPlanet 2 While not a terrible game, I didn't care for most of the trophy list (including DLC), and when compared to everything else I've played this year, there's really no competition for this award. Most Anticipated Platinum It'd have to be a tie between Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes, as I'm a HUGE Suikoden fan, and Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne HD Remaster, as that was my introduction into the SMT universe (and later got me to play the Persona series). Special shout out to Disgaea 6 and Rune Factory 5, which while they won't have trophies, they will consume a large amount of my gaming time next year.
jantrick2
Piece of Cake Award I have no shame... Honestly I have a lot of filler plats this year since I wanted Persona 5 Royal and 13 Sentinels as milestones. Also hoping I can make Persona 5 Strikers or the PS5 version of Yakuza Like a Dragon my 200th. Although now that I think about it... These required less effort since I transferred my PS4 saves: It's Like Dark Souls I guess my hardest platinum of 2020 would be this one: Bad Ass Award Unlocking Ghost Stance for the first time! Grind of the Year Honestly the biggest grind I did in 2020.King of the Internet Had a lot of fun in Season 1 but I haven't played since Worst Online Experience Had bad luck trying to boost the 530k BP trophy. Probably gonna give up for now Sleeper Hit of the Year This game really blew me away honestly, considering it's a free tech demo. Biggest Bomb of the Year Kinda got disappointed with the leaks, but I'll still get the game down the line. On sale of course. Best Trophy Image Can't really decide from these four: Worst Trophy Image I'm not going through all my trophies so here's the worst plat image: Best Female Character Saeko Mukoda (Yakuza: Like a Dragon) Best Male Character Gonna list my top 3, excluding characters who were playable in previous years Ichiban Kasuga (Yakuza: Like a Dragon) Jin Sakai (Ghost of Tsushima) Miles Morales (Spider-Man: Miles Morales) Edit: Didn't see 'to play as', keeping this one as a special mention: Takuto Maruki (Persona 5 Royal)Best Platinum of the Year In order: Same as my favorite trophy images actually! Worst Platinum of the Year The things I do for milestones... Most Anticipated Platinum of 2021 Can't decide between these two: 1. Persona 5 Strikers 2. Yakuza Like a Dragon (PS5) - Assuming it has a new list Edited December 31, 2020 by jantrick2
MarcusPunisher
Piece of Cake Award Stranger Things 3: The Game I was picking between games that at least required some sort of action, unlike the ones like Telltale's Wolf Among Us game or Erica that I also played this year. This was a breeze through, even on perma death mode that is required on a second playthrough. Pretty fun old school arcade game and plus points if you are a Stranger Things fan. It's like Dark Souls Final Fantasy VII Remake No other game this year made so sweat and almost throwing the towel to give up on my platinum. I had to do several "patient" runs on Bahamut's challenge and had several of them failed before I finally pushed through it to the final challenge, which was way easier than most bosses in the game. Not to say that the hard mode was anything easier either. It was challenging, but it was a lot of fun at the same time. Bad Ass Award Resident Evil: Revelations 2 There's Something in There I was debating between many other moments this year, but then I remember what happened early on in RE: Revelations 2. I was going through the last mission on the hardest difficulty while having all the enemies invisible. At the last boss, I managed to defeated without me taking any damage and without me even noticing. I can confirm that, cause that was one of the gold reward requirements for the trophy and it showed up at the end screen. Making a bad ass moment without me even realizing it. ? Grind of the Year Assassins Creed Valhalla I was fully expecting it to be Death Stranding this year only if that game didn't crashed on me and corrupt my save data in the process so I can't count that. I was also considering Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch given that there is a pretty strict RNG loot system that can make the end grinding a complete nightmare. Instead, Valhalla takes the cake, cause this was probably the most grindiest Ubisoft game to date and unfortunately one of the most buggiest so careful planning was required to make it sure that your progress is not bugged. Thankfully, I managed to go through it without serious issues, minus perhaps the crashes, but it took soooo long to get there for me. King of the Internet Resident Evil 5 (PS4) Had a few decent online experiences this year. Most notable and fun was doing all the online trophies for RE 5 that finally helped to push this game into 100% mark. All this makes me wish that Capcom can also release a remake of Resident Evil Outbreak. Worst Online Experience Ghost of Tsushima (Online) This may be my fault for not getting a dedicated group of players, but I really hate when you are force to have a random co-op partner, only for the to either not listen or disconnect any time something goes even remotely wrong so you have to restart the entire mission. Hopefully, next year when I try to tackle the online trophies will result in better experience Sleeper Hit of the Year Darksiders Genesis I was really disappointed with Darksiders 3 and I wasn't expecting much from a spin off title that tried to go with the Diablo gameplay style. To my surprise, this was actually really enjoyable with and the gameplay was really well utilized. It gave me an appropriate challenge as well going through the Apocalyptic mode and the boss music was some of the best in the series. It's a shame that I don't see many people talking about this, cause this is really good. Biggest Bomb of the Year Resident Evil 3 Remake I really didn't want to put RE 3 Remake here. I still had some fun with it, it's not a bad game, and I don't regret playing it, but at the same time, it was one of my most anticipated game of this year, my first 2020 platinum game, and I just expected way more. Remake is suppose to expand on the original and improve some areas, not to strip them down to bare bones and make some changes for the worst. They cut down so much content only to focus on Resident Evil Resistance, that was bundled in it and one that I could not just care less to play. It's a real shame, cause this could have been great like Resident Evil Remake 2. Hopefully, Village will not suffer from any of the draw backs. Best Trophy Image Final Fantasy VII Remake Platinum Image I can probably pick many others, but this one is the big winner for me. Worst Trophy Image Star Wars Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast (Everything) This is not so much as the worst image, but rather the laziest. Every trophy image in this game is the same looking. Couldn't take few images from the game and put it as trophy icons? Best Female Character Kasumi Yoshizawa - Persona 5 Royal I was ready to give this award to the Second Sister from Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order or Tifa from FF VII Remake, but then I played Persona 5 Royal towards the end of the year and my choice instantly changed. One of the best written character in Persona 5 that was added to the Royal edition and what big impression she left on me when I finished the game. Her story arc resonated with me so much and was one of the big highlights going through the game once again. Also, word of advice. If a girl brings you lunch that she made herself on a second date, stick with her. You will know what I'm talking about when you play the game. Best Male Character Barrett Wallace - Final Fantasy VII Remake This was a difficult pick as I had many candidates I was considering like Cloud from FF VII Remake, Majima from Yakuza Kiwami, Jin Sakai from Ghost of Tsushima, and Dr. Maruki from Persona 5 Royal. I have to ultimately give it to Barret, cause he was the real MVP for me in that game and through out the year. He had some of the greatest moments and I always found fun to play as him. He was already one of my favorites from the original, but the Remake made him even better. Best Platinum of the Year Ghost of Tsushima Platinum This was not an easy choices. I had to pick from 57 platinum trophies I made this year where most of them were so much fun to go through for many different reasons. Games like FF VII and RE 2 Remake for the challenging difficulty, Persona 5 Royal and Wolf Among Us for their stories, Control and Ghost of Tsushima for it's artistic design, Outer Worlds for it's humor, and so much more. If I had to be honest, my top three are easily Final Fantasy VII Remake, Ghost of Tsushima, and Persona 5 Royal. These are gonna be the most memorable games for me this year as they brought me so much joy through the hard times. That said, I can only pick one and ultimately decided to go with Ghost of Tsushima for a reason that it became my 100th platinum. I started pretty late as a trophy hunter and since then, it made go back to completing and playing games that I would normally not do. It gives me that sense of striving for a goal at something in games and it makes them (sometimes) that much enjoyable. Ghost of Tsushima did just that and it made not only to work towards the platinum, but also the big milestone. My goal is to hit 200 platinum milestone in the next 2-3 years and I hope that game will be as special as this one. Worst Platinum of the Year Life of Strange 2 Platinum Well, talking about the exact opposite from what I just said. I did not want to complete this game whatsoever ever since I started the first episode. I was a fan of the first Life is Strange and I even defend it to this day, cause the topic they tackle is very relatable and feels real in some sense, to which I always give the writers credit for. I don't know what the hell they were smoking, but they managed to create a cartoonishly baffling world that deals with a serious subject matter in a such a black and white fashion that I could only imagine an 10 year old can come up with something like this. It's not only how over the top the story is presented all the sudden, but it's also insulting to the common intelligence of anyone playing this game. Not only that, but the developers are also disingenuous about this being a fictional setting from the disclaimer so there is that. I don't want to go on too long, but I can say that I regret having this in my trophy list. Yes, it's a very easy platinum, but the story is insufferable to go through and I will never play this game evr again in my life nor will I ever play any games from these developers. Congrats Life is Strange 2. You sucked this year! Most Anticipated Platinum of the Year Resident Evil Village I'm looking forward to this game ever since it was announced and I'm hoping the trophy list will not be anything drastic, cause I'm strategically planning this to be my first PS5 trophy, once I get the console. Given that the release date is aiming to be somewhere in April, hopefully there will be more consoles stocked by then so I don't have to wage war over them on the internet. Anyway, this looks to be an exciting time from what the trailers have shown us so far so I'm very much looking forward to this.
Dr_Mayus
So many great choices and so many entries Thanks everyone. I am trying to plat Erica today so I am going to wait until tomorrow to post mine.
