Popular Post purlinka
Just got this trophy, and I wanted to write a detailed decision guide to help others. The Odd Couple seems to have the most debate surrounding it, so here are the exact choices I made to get the trophy. Chapter: Confrontation (Angela) The group comes upon a bridge shrouded by fog. John goes ahead of the group to investigate. Do not offer to follow him into the fog. Trusting John to go alone and then supporting his decision gives a larger relationship increase. Choices: "WORRIED / Be careful" (Heart) ⮕ "APPROVING / He's doing the right thing" (Heart) Result: ✅ Angela respected John for taking the initiative and going ahead into the fog Shortly after the previous step, John will return from the fog and tell the group about Angela's lookalike. When the group splits, have Angela go with Andrew and John. Choices: "APPROVING / I'm with Andrew" (Head) Result: ✅ Angela sided with Andrew, deciding she will head into town with John. Chapter: The Crossing (John) The group comes upon another bridge. This time, it's broken and perilous to cross. Have John be the team leader and go first, reassuring Angela everything will be ok. Choice(s): "SELF-ASSURED / Happy to lead the way" (Head) ⮕ "NERVOUS / We'll get you over..." (Head) Result: ✅ John supported Andrew in convincing Angela they would be safe. While crossing the bridge, you'll see a flashback of Angela's lookalike being sentenced. Angela will ask you what happened, but both dialogue options decrease their relationship. Instead, say nothing. This interaction is to just make sure you don't lose progress between Angela and John. Choices: "Say Nothing" Result: N/A Chapter: Pursued (Daniel) When Daniel and Taylor get their opportunity to explore the museum, do not pick up the knife. Later, in Low Point, we need to kill Taylor and Daniel. If either of them has the knife, they will survive regardless of decisions or failing QTEs. You need both characters to die to set up later interactions between Angela and John. Chapter: Low Point (John/Andrew) At the beginning of the chapter, Angela will reappear from her trip in the sewers. There's an automatic relationship increase when Angela rejoins the group. Choices: N/A Result: ✅ Angela expressed relief that she was safely reunited with Andrew and John. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - ⚠️ Note: If you plan to combine Odd Couple and Salvation playthroughs, this is where they diverge. Pick one playthrough to finish, then reload Low Point to finish the other. ⚠️ Edit: I recommend doing your "Everyone Lives" playthrough first. The extra dialogue opportunity in Ruined that you get as a result from killing Taylor and Daniel seems to be a hit-or-miss requirement. For some people (me), every possible positive interaction was needed, while for others, the final sledgehammer scene in Heavy Burden was enough to fill the rest of the relationship bar. If you complete "Everyone Lives" first, you might luck out and get both trophies! - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Playing as Andrew, you're given the choice to rescue Daniel or Taylor. Choose to save Daniel first, fail all QTE, and let Daniel die. Then, fail all QTE with Taylor and let her die. Choices: Rescue Daniel (Heart) ⮕ Fail Daniel QTE ⮕ Fail Taylor QTE Result: Daniel & Taylor Dead Chapter: Reflections (John) (Optional) This step is only necessary if Taylor didn't die in Low Point. This is your last opportunity to kill her and access the extra dialogue opportunity for John and Angela in the next chapter. Taylor's creature will attack at the beginning of the chapter in the woods. If Daniel is still alive at this point, it's too late to kill him. (Optional) Choices: Fail QTE (Optional) Result: Taylor Dead In the flashback with Andrew's lookalike, they will ask for advice. Andrew must tell his lookalike that Mary is to blame. Choices: "ENCOURAGING / Speak out against the girl" (Head) Result: N/A Chapter: Ruined (John) John is given an opportunity to plot against Mary. Angela will chime in to agree with John's plan. This interaction does not occur if Daniel and Taylor are alive. Choices: "THOUGHTFUL / We must rat out the girl" (Head) ⮕ "SPITEFUL / I want to test it on Mary" (Heart) Result: ✅ Angela approved of John wanting to stop Mary. Chapter: Heavy Burden (Angela) After entering the picket-fenced backyard, the remaining monsters will appear. While running to the house for safety, there's a specific moment that Angela can come to John's rescue. Choices: "REASSURING / Please hurry!" Result: ✅ Angela stayed with John to face the demon together. Immediately after the last dialogue choice, the three surviving characters will run from the monsters into the ruined house. During the action sequence you will switch between Angela and John. There's a specific moment that Angela can come to John's rescue. Choices: Succeed John's 2 x QTE prompts ⮕ Succeed Angela's 2 x QTE prompts ⮕ Fail John's QTE (John drops the sledgehammer) ⮕ Succeed Angela's QTE (Angela throws the sledgehammer back to John) Result: ✅ Angela threw the hammer back to John, giving him a chance to fight off the demon. Congrats! You earned The Odd Couple Edited December 15, 2020 by purlinka Extra Information
KhajiitWerewolf
I somehow got it while keeping everyone alive. I'm missing the 'Angela approved of John wanting to stop Mary' because Daniel and Taylor were still alive. Perhaps they adjusted some stats, or some hidden thing not listed in the list made their affection higher. May be worth giving the Heavy Burden choices a shot on your save everyone playthrough and seeing if that raises it high enough.

The extra interaction after Taylor and Daniel are killed seems to be hit-or-miss. Some people need every ounce of relationship increase for the trophy to pop (me lol), while for others, the final sledgehammer scene gives enough points to fill the rest of the bar. But yeah, you’re right—I recommend doing an “Everyone Lives” playthrough first, especially if you don't have Salvation yet. You might luck out and get both trophies. If The Odd Couple doesn’t pop, then go back to Low Point to kill Daniel and Taylor for the extra interaction. I’ll update my guide to say that. shawn-norris
Thank you so much for this guide! I was having so many struggles; followed this guide and got it!
BGriff1986
Jeez, the criteria for this one is SO strict. I’ve just finished a play thru where I’d made the other positive choice at Confrontation and I swear the bar must be millimetres away from being maxed out! Desmuria
Thank you, @purlinka for the detailed guide. I just earned the trophy! I can't thank you enough because I was really struggling with this one. I did a purely Head choice solo run before, so I did scene select and started from Confrontation and the trophy popped during Heavy Burden, as per your guide. Gueeds
This trophy sucks. I must be at 99.9999% and it didn't pop. It looks max to me but no trophy. Need a new partial playthrough to try it again.

Shaakaa82
Thank you very much for your guide, I finally got the trophy. I can confirm that following John into the fog instead of saying that he did the right thing and killing both Daniel and Taylor to get the extra conversation gets you 99% of the relationship and no trophy. On the other hand, saying that he did the right thing instead of following him and keeping both Daniel and Taylor alive (so no extra conversation) is enough to get the trophy. So, if you follow John into the fog, I think it is impossible to get the trophy. Of course you still have to do the rest of the steps. Congratulations for your detailed guide. IsOliveiras
Thanks for the guide, but word of advice for people playing on 1.0: Don't bother, doesn't work. Followed guide, got all "results" in my John/Angela relationship screen, plus one extra red down arrow. The game is bugged, one interaction counted as both positive and negativa at the same time. Just to be extra clear, I'm not complaining about the guide, which seems to be perfect. It is the game that was very buggy at launch. Guide was probably made and tested against a patched version. So if you, like me, started playing recently (after september/2022 1.09 patch that broke the game), don't bother, you are screwed on current patch, and you are screwed on 1.0 version. I've wasted many hours attempting seemingly unobtainable trophies and having many crashes along the way. Either way out for a patch, or just don't bother with this trophy (Odd Couple) and the Compassionate Soul and All Together Now. Thanks one more time for the guide, hopefully I'll be able to use it again if the game gets fixed. Edit.: Coincidentally, 1 hour after posting this, patch 1.10 rolled out for me. I Downloaded and replayed the whole thing, and got the trophy, so thanks again for the guide. Got All Together Now and Compassionate Soul in the same playthrough. Just one more brain only playthrough and I'm done with this game. Such a shame, It would have been my favorite, but the technical issues and having to replay over and over unskipabble cutscenes killed my enjoyment. CharlesB753
Since the patch detailed above, you don't need nearly as many as you previously did to get this trophy. My partner and I did it in coop, and all we got was: 1. Respected John for taking the initiative (started our playthrough in Confrontation) 2. Angela sided with Andrew, deciding she will head into town 3. Angela expressed relief that she was safely reunited with Andrew and John (story related, nothing needed for this one) 4. Angela stayed with John to face the demon together 5. We failed no qte's, and it popped when my partner succeeded his qte with Angela, hitting the demon
