Popular Post KegMack
Getting the last few weapons for Weapon Collector was by far, the longest grind in the game (for me at least) . I had to do 3 full additional playthroughs after I reached 100% level completion to finally get the last weapon I needed. Towards the end of that grind is when I figured out how to exploit the save. It's pretty simple, in hindsight, but at first I didn't understand when the character sets on a level were saved and when they weren't. Once you start a mission, the rescuable characters are basically set. If you quit out the game (without retreating), that set will not save and you'll get a new set of characters next time. However, if you retreat back to the main menu, those characters are saved to that level, and will be there next time you play that same level on the same difficulty. Note that they might be in different spots on the map, but it will the same character set. So, because of that, there is a minor exploit you can use to save some time trying to get those pesky last few weapons. Nothing's more frustrating in this game than grinding 30 levels for Dimsum's lv 4 weapon, only to finally find her but get the lv 3 one at the end. Here are the steps: 1. Start the level and difficulty of your choice. Go through and quickly determine which characters are available. If none of the ones you need, quit the game through XMB (do not retreat or it will save). If there is one you need, RETREAT. 2. After retreating back to the menu screen, close the game and backup your save. 3. Now restart, play through the level, pick up the character, and if you don't get the right version of your weapon, restore your save from backup and repeat. If you accidentally saved the character set on a level by retreating, just complete it and you'll get new ones next time around. Hope this helps some people cut down on the time for this trophy. For me, it was a terrible grind which marred an otherwise enjoyable platinum. PS in case anyone didn't know, DLC weapons are NOT required for this (but note that DLC characters do add to the rescuable pool, so having several of them will make the grind a bit longer).
