Popular Post TheBlaskar
Please note: this challenge is not the same as Platinum_Vice's PSNP missing couple challenge, taking place at the same time mine is. Please check that challenge out as well and give it some love, a lot of work went into it and it sounds like a ton of fun. On June 9th 2022, my best friend (Nick Craig, APeskyGerbil) disappeared; he's a missing person. As of the 20th, still a missing person. He's loved. Honestly, one of the genuinely best people you could know. One of his favorite things is playing video games and while he mostly plays PC and Switch, I have let him set his PS4 to my primary for game sharing. I've done everything in my power to spread the word and search by launching a social media campaign, creating AI paintings from pictures of him for artistic clickbait, designing a tattoo for myself, writing a full-blown song for him with a sax solo even, hanging up hundreds of missing person posters all around central Indiana, and get him on the news and radio to spread the word even further; all that's left to do is hope, and celebrate him. Honestly, sincerely, and genuinely, Nick is one of the best people you could know. I wanted to also create a community backlog challenge in his honor. This challenge is about tackling your backlog, but also going after a game that you may have deemed "impossible." Not only is Nick one of the toughest dudes, but he never leaves anything unfinished as he gives everything all that he's got. While Nick is out there in god-knows-where, I want to create something for us to celebrate some of his qualities and interests. Maybe we can celebrate him enough that he'll feel drawn back home. Introducing... A PESKY TROPHY CHALLENGE The ultimate goal of this challenge is to 100% a game that either has eluded you for ages, you gave up on due to difficulty, or you never started due to difficulty/trophies, etc. For me, I'm doing Super Meat Boy (help). On the way to our ultimate goal (the Pesky Game), we're taking little breaks: completing FIVE games. That's right, five. The first four will be from your game library, descending 100% rarity, so easiest first. Really knock out those "baby stuff" trophies and S's. The fifth game will be the most recent game you started but didn't finish. The way I'm doing it is the following: 1) Most Common S-Rank (no plat) 2) Most Common Plat 3) 2nd Most Common S-Rank (no plat) 4) 2nd Most Common Plat 5) Most Recent Incomplete Plat in Backlog (or any game of your choice if the most recent backlog game itself is a long road like FFXIV) After the fifth game, we jump back into the Pesky Game. What I've been doing is earning one trophy in SMB, and then going back into the game rotation, but I can't play any other games until I've earned a trophy from SMB. I want to finish SMB but I don't want to get totally sick of it while doing so, which makes this rotation beneficial to enjoyment and sanity. I just finished my 5 games last night, and then I just did a trophy in SMB today (may have taken five hours on one level but you can't prove it and I'll deny it). I'm going to repeat this rotation until my next Trophy Milestone. Right now, I'm planning on making SMB plat 150 so I have quite a few games to play between now and then. After Plat 149, I keep playing the most common S-Ranks (no plat) until I finish SMB in its entirety. The challenge will get harder as time goes on, as the game completion rarity goes down and the trophy rarity in your Pesky Game goes down as well. The rarest S-Ranks I have are Splitgate, Trials Fusion, and the like. Those games take months to complete, which will make me want to focus on SMB a bit more until I've finally done it. There's no signing up. There are no rewards aside from pride and there is no purpose to this except celebrate Nick. Also, having fun and accomplishing gaming greatness, whichever game you choose. And, choose your next games to play for you which I usually struggle with. Now, you can make a concrete plan and follow it along with me:) In the comments, let us know what your Pesky Game is. We'll consider you a participant once you do that. Welcome to A Pesky Trophy Challenge, gamers!
