"Through the Dimensional Rift": Help Me!

One of the last things I need to do to complete the Royal Pack DLC is beat the superboss Omega, but I was struggling like crazy last time I tried! I would really appreciate it if someone could give me some advice on what gear I should have and how I should go about beating it. Maybe I haven't leveled up enough? I've also seen people trap Omega in the air and shoot him with Prompto until he dies, but I couldn't get that to work last time. Was it patched? Any help would be appreciated.
