Holstered weapon always defaults back to Fiber Wire

Don't know if I'm being dumb but every time I select a weapon, say the Syringe from the item menu, 47 pulls out but if I holster it then unholster it, he pulls out the Fiber Wire. Is there a button you can press or something I'm not doing right to unholster the weapon I picked or is this just the way the game is?
