ADVICE: How to avoid glitches

By the time I got the plat for this game I noticed that trophy guides never mentioned this golden advice that can save you from most glitches, if not from all of them.

 

When you are about to start playing, either offline or online, make sure to follow these steps before you enjoy your adventure:

 

1) Load game

 

2) As soon as you are able to control your character, return to the Main Menu by quitting the game.

 

3) Load game again

 

At this point you can either check if the quests list loaded correctly or you can quit again and Load Game a third time just to be sure.

The reason you do this is because if the Quest List is not loaded correctly, a lot of glitches can happen, including the ones that can lock you from progressing in the story.

 

I tested this method myself when starting the game a second time, because my first run got glitched beyond repair. I was hosting all the time and in my experience, loading the Save File twice was enough to make the game work correctly.

This advice really helped.  My first playthrough (10+ years ago) was filled with glitches.  After defeating the spider at the end of Mirkwood, I wasn't able to advance out of the level.  It was pretty discouraging.

 

After firing this game up again a couple weeks ago, I found this thread and followed the OP's instructions and had no issues at all.  I would take a picture of all my quests before quitting & saving.  When I turned it back on to play again, usually one of the quests would be missing.  I just quit the game, loaded it again, and then all the quests were there.
