Question about fusing items

Hey guys, I was just curious as to how what the best approach to fusing accessories together is. Like let's say I take a base that boosts my attack. Should I then feed it more attack based accessories or should I go with something completely different, like HP or Guts boost? Or would a better approach be to use modifiers like "add xyz type of damage" to your attacks?

Just curious if there's a recommended way or does it not really matter and one can go as freely about it as possible? Feedback would be greatly appreciated.
