Platinum Unobtainable (PS3) Strictly Using DS4

For those of you who run into this problem inevitably. TL;DR at bottom for solution.

 

 

If you're like me and don't have a genuine DS3 sitting around you'll use the DS4. Only problem being both R2+L2 don't work with the DS4 because fuck you?

 

Anyway, you won't be able to mod weapons, which makes one trophy unobtainable and therefore the platinum. The work around is having a DS3 obviously or a supplement, something that can trigger the XMB menu from in-game, I luckily had a dongle that can trigger it.

 

***Solution assuming you have a supplement in place of a DS3 (Dongle, 3rd party controller, whatever or): Load into the game, connect your DS4 with a charging cable, make sure light is yellow and registering as on, trigger XMB. Use DS4 to navigate to accessory settings, reassign controller, set the number to 1, return to game, your DS4 will now have full button accessibility***

 

Didn't see this solution anywhere else for this niche issue. It only works when you reassign from inside the game, if you make the DS4 #1 and load into the game the triggers will not work for whatever Bethesda reason.

 

If you don't have a way to trigger the XMB from inside the game then you're SOL until you can acquire a means to do so, remapping actions doesn't work in pip boy menus.
