Guiding Bird glitched?

I have restarted the game 3 times now and upon reaching the part where the giant bird loses his 4 green eggs, the game indicates a guiding bird can be called wherever you are by singing as loud as you can... except it never does, and the hint never leaves the screen. Ive tried closing the app and reopening, I have tried restarting the game multiple times. 

 

Has anyone run into this issue? I feel it will be a huge inconvenience to not have access to the bird since he opens up certain plants to access certain abilities.
