Madden Ultimate Team Seasons

I'm wondering if anyone knows how it determines your skill level.  The game says if you play the head to head matches against opponents you will be placed against players of similar skill. 

 

Does that mean win/loss record, total number of games played??

 

Or does it mean your teams OVR score?

 

I'm wondering because having a boosting partner for the 3 MUT trophies I don't have would be great.  However I'm trying to determine if I do a bunch of solo challenges and buy packs to create a better team will I face stronger opponents or do I face stronger opponents based on win percentage or total number of games played?

 

I can't find a resource on this on the internet and pstrophies.org says the MUT trophies for this game are unobtainable due to server closure yet that isn't true because I just got done beating someone In a head to head match in a MUT Seasons.  Only the Draft Champions feature doesn't work preventing you from getting the platinum.
