Controls help

I’m stuck on level 18. I can’t figure out how to do the drop down to tag the switch, and the burst vertical back up to bridge before hitting spikes. After over 100+ attempts, I’ve had a handful of lucky ones that worked but there are three switches in a row. 
 

what I’m trying to do on controller is push left stick down and press X to drop down, then immediately push the stick up and hit the dash button either circle or right trigger. I keep seeing the little box reticle appear below the spikes instead of up so it’s like I’m dashing downward instead of up. Help please.

Sorry, didn’t see your question till now, when I came back to see if anyone had replied with an answer. I see you wrote on my birthday, that’s cool. But what’s not cool is I guess I didn’t have notifications or something turned on cause I never got heads up that followed topic wasn’t getting notifications.
