[Site Suggestion] Please Combine Games In the Popular Games This Week Section

Since the release of the PS5, and even before that, the Popular Games This Week has become somewhat redundant in its current form. At the time of writing this, the Popular Games this list is:

• Call of Duty Vanguard PS5
• Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning PS4
• Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy PS5
• Far Cry 6 PS5
• First Class Trouble PS4
• First Class Trouble PS5
• Knockout City PS5
• Call of Duty Vanguard PS4
• Knockout City PS4
• FIFA 22 PS5

 

If you take a quick glance, you might notice that 6 of the spots are held by cross-gen games that separately list each version. And if you expanded it further the 11 spot belongs to the PS4 version of Far Cry 6. Combining different versions of the same game whether they are console or regional versions would make this section properly outline what games are popular.

 

While this is always an issue when a new system releases, it seems like this will continue for some time since the PS4 doesn't appear to be winding down over the next year. And this has always been an issue for games that release multiple regional lists (NA, EU, JP, etc.). Thus, choosing to address this now will future-proof the section.

 

Is it not possible to create a system that combines the player counts regardless of what version they play?
