Can’t get past start screen

Game loads up. Start screen where it’s the logo and PRESS START BUTTON, doesn’t work. Doesn’t respond.

 

im using a ps4 controller, is it unplayable with it? It’s wired and has worked fine with every other game I’ve played

 

if not, is it a disc fault?

Some ps3 games won't work with a DS4, and need either an oem dualshock 3 or a 3rd party licensed ps3 controller

Answering my own question here after finding my dodgy old PS3 controller so mods can probably close this topic, but for future reference for anyone getting this game these days:

 

a PS4 controller is NOT compatible. Wired or wirelessly connected, it will NOT work. No buttons respond. The Load Data part will go past fine as that’s part of the XMB, but Press Start Button will not work when you… press the start button.

this is exactly the case. The L1 on my PS3 controller doesn’t work, hence I use DS4, but luckily L1 is just camera related so I’ll get by.
