Platinum Trophy Tips and Tricks

Recommended Posts

I know there is already a long established trophy guide and walkthrough here on PSNProfiles but I still put this list together to specifically address some of the most annoying trophies required before platinum.

  • Refer to BumpMaster's guide on Gamefaqs for specifically tracking DP and the PSNProfiles walkthrough for tracking missable events etc (feed Coppe the Cat every chapter!)
  • ~2 playthroughs required - Easy/Normal at Max Lv 35 and then NG+ in Nightmare (Hard trophy also unlocks if playing on Nightmare)
  • You will need at least 1600 Pts (earned via trophies) in your first playthrough to transfer all relevant trophy required stats to NG+. Carrying over Back Alley issues and combo craft upgrades should be prioritised last.
  • There are 3 character affinity trophies in which you can get only 2 in your first playthrough before getting the last affinity trophy in NG+. Refer to the PSNProfiles walkthrough here.
  • To get the Rise and Don’t Grind trophy, ensure that your party is at most Lv 35 before the final dungeon. From this point on, make a save, skip all chests with monster encounters, fight only mandatory enemy encounters and make sure after the first stage final boss fight that any EXP gained does not make any character exceed Lv 40. After obtaining this trophy, you can then reload your recent save, collect all final dungeon monster chests and safely level up past Lv 40 before reaching NG+.
  • Unlike the PS vita version, you must get practically all 380 DP available in the PS4 game. You can only miss out on 4DP at most (8DP in NG+) or you will not get the Following in His Footsteps trophy. If you do not get this trophy, you will also not receive the last quartz, Lunar Gem, at 376DP.
  • Impossible to get Chest Nut, The Usual Suspects, Quartz by the Gallon, Regna Rocked and Crossbell Five-0 in your 1st playthrough. Although you should still get all the other chests available and scan every monster you can to save time in NG+
  • Chest Nut: Chest collection doesn't carry over to NG+. Ignore any chest with overpowered monsters in your 1st playthrough as you will not be strong enough to defeat them until NG+. These chests will also hold a few of the stronger Quartz necessary for Quartz by the Gallon. Also, the outstanding chests to collect will be located in the NG+ only last chapter sidequest Strange Phenomenon in the Geofront (Geofront B Sector).
  • The Usual Suspects: Monster data can be carried on to NG+. You will need to wait until the Strange Phenomenon in the Geofront sidequest in NG+ only to scan the outstanding monsters
  • Regna Rocked: It’s likely that you will attempt the last sidequest boss battle in NG+ on Nightmare so that you can just stick to 2 playthroughs. The first objective is to quickly kill off the initial slimes and the 2x Executors. Then you must consistently heal, evade the boss's attacks and slowly chip away at its health (damage needs to exceed the boss's Super Recovery turn) while keeping your party spread out to avoid its AOE damage. Ensure that you save all Zeram Powders from both playthroughs as you will need them so that Tio can always use her Zero Field S Craft to nullify the boss’s Darkest Wind attack. Basically, Tio must always have Zero Field available (100CP) or you will be wiped out. A good strategy here is to spam Lloyd’s Burning Heart craft and equip him with Evade raising weapons/armour/accessories so that he wastes the Boss and his lackeys’ turns. Use basic attacks to replenish his CP so that he can reuse Burning Heart indefinitely to avoid faint status. Use Tio as a higher elements spellcaster with Gemini and Solar Gems equipped – spam Avalon Gate to quickly kill the boss’s slimes and then switch to lower cost higher element spells to chip away at the boss. You can also configure Tio's quartz to get her Celestial arte in case the party is nearly defeated. Elie is the healer using Aura Rain S Craft or casting Aqua Mirage, Holy Breath and higher element spells when possible. And Randy is the errand boy using EP Charge II and healing items to keep the spellcasters’ EP and HP fully replenished.
  • Crossbell Five-0: Only achievable in NG+ when you can access the last sidequest. The trick is to simply level up to around Lv 45-46 in this area and then fight the sidequest’s final boss. After defeating it, you should automatically level up to Lv 50.
  • Your last trophy is still likely going to be Neverending Stakeout.
