Internal extended hard drive not reading

Hello,

 

I apologize if this was covered in another thread, but I need some help with my newly installed internal extended hard drive. I installed a western digital SN850x into my PS5 and it isn’t allowing me to format.
 

I followed the PlayStation installation from the YouTube page to install. They stated when I first turn on the PS5, the format option should pop up for the internal hard drive, but everything is starting up like it did before and the storage isn’t listing anything beyond the initial factory storage. I tried to take out the internal hard drive and reinstall to make sure it was connected correctly, I restored the PS5 to factory settings, and I tried a few times of just restarting the machine. 
 

I appreciate any help or suggestions. I did try to find some ideas online but I didn’t see much on the internal hard drive, just external hard drive issues. I apologize if this was a little long and thank you for your help.
