Platinum Tips After Just Finishing the Game

If you're using a second controller, this is a 1/10 difficulty. It took me 4 hours to Plat.  As of June 2023, it is on Playstation Plus. It's a great take on the game that I think 6-12 year olds would have a  great time with.

 

As the guide mentions, the Bonus trophies are what you will spend the most time on and are heavily luck based. You're going to do local 2 player custom games for most trophies with a second controller. Set the games to 5-minute matches, turn off special events (I forget what they're called in the game), and turn up the frequency of Community Chests. Towards the end of your trophy grind, you'll have a few trophies left to work on. I will use the Bulldog Trophy as an example, the Bidder Bonus for winning the most auctions during a match. This one took me the longest for whatever reason.

 

I tried winning an auction and letting the 5 min timer run out. No bonus. I tried winning as many auctions as possible. No bonus. I did this a few times and still no bonus, yet I would get a number of other bonuses related to running around the most and spending and making the most money, etc. I tried letting the second controller bid and then outbid them. No bonus. I tried this a few time and like the previous attempt, would get a number of other bonuses. Eventually, as I did in the beginning, I would win an auction and let the timer run out over and over and after 3 or 4 attempts, the trophy and bonus popped.

 

At the end of each match, you can potentially get 3 bonuses, thou you may complete a number of things that qualify for a bonus yet only one bonus pops. With this and a few other trophies, here are my thoughts on how the bonuses MAY work in the game. 

 

1. Every bonus is available each game, but at the start of the game, how many bonuses are given at the end of the game, 1, 2, or 3 is predetermined. In some games, you can only get one bonus at the end. In other games, you can get 3 bonuses.

 

2. You can potentially get 3 bonuses at the end of each game, but only a select handful of bonuses are available each game. For example, in each game, only 1/4 of the bonus pool is available at the end.

 

3. It could be a combo of these 2.

 

4. Or something completely different!

 

In any case, going after the final few trophies, I would do as little as possible in each match so I wouldn't potentially pick up other bonuses that might make me miss out on the bonus I was going after. Super easy one here and is on Plus at the time posted, so grab it if you want a quick no-brainer Plat.

I just need “ripped off” and “trade union”. I’m playing with 3 controllers. No matter how many times I steal property using UFOs or use strikes on I keep getting other ones. I accidentally picked up ONE drop of water and it gave me the H20 mermaid bonus ☹️. The RNGness of this is so annoying

Yeah, it has been almost a year since I played, but I remember it being a grind towards the end with the RNG. I tried to explain above what I THOUGHT was the nature of the RNG, but I could have been completely off. But doing as little as possible to avoid other bonuses was my game plan. I had the most trouble getting the Bidder Bonus, I tried it one way the first few times, then tried it a bunch of other ways, then ended up trying it the same way I did the first time and got it.

 

The only thing I can say is I only ever used 2 controllers and used the tips on the trophy guide for specific trophies. I'm sure you'll eventually get those last 2. Good luck!

Your advice made sense now once I hit “the wall” lol. It seems that the game just decides to keep you for a couple more hours when you’re down to the last bonus you need. I ended up getting the stupid thing when I witched to playing against 5 AI at easy but oh well I’m glad that’s over 😅
