Glitched objectives in Persona-Specific missions.

I was cleaning up the trophy list for this game since it's been sitting on my PS5 for a while. 
I get everything else finished and get to doing the Persona-Specific missions. 
I got to 'the culprit' mission for the detective missions and as soon as the mission starts it wants me to look for clue in the specific area.  I find the footprints I am supposed to scan, but it won't allow me to.  
I try to abort mission, retry mission close and re-open the game, and nothing works.
I move on thinking I can fiddle with it after I get the rest of the stuff done. I move onto the plot missions.  Get to 'the breadcrumbs' mission and the same task happens. I'm supposed to look for clues in the designated area, but it won't let me scan them.    

Anyone come across this and know a work around? I will post if/when I figure it out, I really don't want to restart this game for these, it was a fairly big drag to get this far which is why it was sitting on my console for a while.

Update-   I had a save file on my cloud that had the missions available so I did them that way.
