Don't understand orbments (Looking for advice)

Hello!

 

I've platinumed Trails of Cold Steel 1 and 2, so I get how orbments themselves work. 

 

I am near the start of the game (Great forest) and I've unlocked Rean's second slot in Line one. To the right it has a grey element, which can only be Space. I have space orbments, but the game will not allow me to equip one in this slot. Even if I unequip all orbments and try to just equip one there, it still tells me no, despite it being unlocked.

 

I don't understand what I'm doing wrong. 

 

Anybody get what I'm saying without a photo?

*humble edit*

I just realized that the Reaper type orbments for example are a different grey type color. Sorry to have wasted whoever read this' time. >_>
