How to get the Lunar Effect trophy

I'll try to keep this brief: the trophy description says to "Stare at the full moon for ten seconds while on land".

 

I was unsure if any old night would do, but it doesn't: the moon actually has phases in this game like in real life and you need to be patient until you see the full moon appear on the right night. Hopping on another server doesn't work - I tried it and the moon phase stays the same. So no crescent moon or first quarter or third quarter (a half moon), you need a full moon like below.

 

 

This is what it should look like, there can't be a shade of dark on either sides, which I've seen happen the night before I got it on the correct night. The moon surface needs to be fully illuminated by sunlight, i.e. a full moon. I got my trophy just before I took this screenshot, at the Mother of Shipwrecks outpost. A nice big open beach with lots of space for the night sky so you're absolutely sure nothing is blocking your view of the moon.

 

I've seen people claim the most ridiculous things online to get this trophy: "you can only get this in Sainte-Anne", "you can not get this while you're holding your lantern", and more nonsense. All incorrect: you can get this on other locations too, and you can have your lantern out. What matters is the moon phase.

 

My advice? Play the game leisurely, do some quests, upgrade your stuff, and every time night falls, keep your eye on the night sky. If you think the full moon is out (or it's in a prior phase with just a little shade of dark), don't take any chances, get to an outpost, stand still and look up at the moon for ten seconds without moving.

 

Don't let others deceive you, it's that simple. It just takes lucky timing and to pay attention at night. Good luck!

I thought as much! Every time it turns night, I go straight for land just in case. Rather be there early and it not be correct than it be a full moon and I miss it

This trophy is so annoying, I'm pretty sure I've just been in a full moon stage but I couldn't actively see the moon due to glare. Been stood on this island for almost 5 hours now 🤣

Just got the Plat, the full moon looks to be around the same time everyday, i got it at 12:41 am UK time. A good tip might be to check the profiles of people who obtained this trophy from your country and see what time they obtained it.
