Does using chapter select effect your progress?

Most games aren't like this, but I've played games before where if you use chapter select, you can't progress beyond the last chapter you played.  I want to know if this game is like that before I go back for collectables that I missed.

I'm not sure if this is exactly what you're asking, but if you're following the trophy guide you probably saw the exploit where you can reload chapter 10 and finish all the upgrades without needing all the materials.  The point to this is it requires you to reload chapter 10 with chapter select.  I did this to get those trophies out of the way and just scanning trophy lists of recent players looks like many others did too.  I had no problem continuing through to the end of the game.  Hopefully that answers your question.
