closertim
Runner on 1st , 2 outs in the 8th, I bring in a relief pitcher who throws one pitch where the runner on 1st tries to steal 2nd but I throw him out. Bottom of the inning I score 2 runs to open up a 4-1 lead. 9th inning and I can't select to bring in my closer until I get an out . is this right? McJacs2
As far as I know a pitcher must face one batter until he can be replaced. Since the pitcher didn't technically face the batter, he can't be taken out. It's an MLB rule, nothing related to the game.
closertim
Thanks for clarifying that up. It was annoying because when I was allowed to put in my closer it was no longer a save situation. Edited August 21, 2014 by closertim
