NEO GEO STRIKES BACK

I remember hearing about a new Neo Geo handheld about a year ago but quickly forgot about. I was looking something up on Gamestops website and saw something about the Neo Geo and clicked on it. Turns out that they are going to be rereleasing the sleek and sexy beast in the beginning of December for $199.99. This variation will be called Neo Geo X Gold instead of just Neo Geo Gold like the one that was released in the early 90's. The only difference that I see is that it no longer has a memory card port on the right. All serious game collectors that are interested in the Geo know that the original Gold system and games cost thousands so this will be pretty neat to have. Gamestop is offering Ninja Masters for free for anyone who pre-orders the Neo Geo X.

From what Gamestop says, the Neo Geo X Gold will have a bundle of 20 games. It doesn't say if it will be the gigantic black cartridges or if they will be like downloaded inside or whatever. They are even bringing back the monstrous joystick back for $49.99. The Neo Geo X is a home console. SNK is also releasing a handheld that is coming out in the beginning of 2013 for $129.99.

Pretty cool. Might be something worth looking into, I've never owned a Neo Geo system.

I think it's a must have. No other home console was like it at the time. Graphics made it seem like you had an arcade in your home. It's too bad that it was extremely expensive. I bet that joy stick weighs a ton.

So wait, will the console support S Video? Cause if it only supports HDMI, there would be no way I could fit it in my gaming center (assuming I get a Wii U and PS4, and even then, I'd need to move some stuff around)

Most of the games seem like fighting games. Is it worth it to get the console/handheld if I'm not a huge fan of fighters?

I'm confused too, http://www.neo-geo.com/forums/showthread.php?236481-Neo-Geo-X-Gold-System-details-and-price-announced! makes it sound like the console, the handheld, and the joystick come in one package. I'm guessing this is more accurate, since that was from August. Getting them all in one package would be nice though.

Most of the games you see on the list like King of Fighters and Fatal Fury are fighting games. There is a little more variety with side scrolling shooters like Metal Slug. I've never heard of those other games... The console is coming out on December 6th 2012 and the handheld is coming out on February 1st 2013. I think Gamestop had some info saying something about how they can sync with each other or something like that.
