Popular Post liquidsol
I posted this in another thread as well. Here are my tips for the game. Some of the hints you've probably seen elsewhere, but I added a bunch that I couldn't find elsewhere and that were really helpful for me. It's quite a read but this strategy is what eventually got me through the arcade game with no deaths. Most enemies move much slower when approaching you diagonally. The majority of your kills will be diagonal. The nuke item - This is the item that kills everything on the screen. Do not use this in worlds 1-2 since enemies killed by the nuke do not drop items. So while you may save yourself for the moment, you’ll regret it later. Everything killed by the nuke is a missed opportunity to get a coin. The zombie item- This item is the one that makes things run away from you and if you touch them they die. But just like the nuke, enemies that die this way don’t drop items! So, you should use it only in an emergency or when there is a heavily guarded item drop that you want and it’s about to disappear. The powder item - This item that changes your position and freezes everyone on the screen. This is an emergency item, but the best use for it is to distract enemies while you pick up items that may across the screen before it disappears. If your goal is a run with no deaths for the no death trophy, don't waste time getting 1-ups for obvious reasons Coffee - don’t go out of your way to get this. The star badge is hands down the best item in the game. Whenever one drops, always put it in your reserve slot even if that means sacrificing your current item. The second best item in the game is wheel (the item that shoots in all directions. It should be the second priority item that you have in your reserve slot. Only the star badge is better. Your third priority items are the machine gun and the shot gun. If an item drops, and you have something in reserve, the new item you pick up will be used as soon as you get it. Don’t get it until it starts blinking or if you are about to be killed. Holding off as long as you can before getting this gives you precious time. This mini-game sometimes causes the game to crash. So, play the game first thing in the morning so if it does crash you don’t lose a day’s worth of farming progress, foraging progress and getting guys in town to sleep with you progress. Coins I can’t emphasize enough how important these are, especially the “5” coin drops. World 1 tips Don’t get nukes Try not to kill enemies on the very edge off the screen. If they drop an item on the edge, picking it up is risky since an enemy could spawn right inside you. There is an exception though, and that’s if a coin is on the edge. You always want these in world 1. When you pick these items up, make sure you are firing your gun at the edge of the screen so if something does spawn, it will hopefully die. Coins should be your top priority. Especially the “5” coins. Level 1-1 - Play normally. Remember the enemies move much slower diagonally. Level 1-2 - Play normally. At the end of this level, the shop will appear. You want to buy the 15 coin ammo upgrade. If you don’t have 15 coins, quit and start over. This will happen about half of the time. It may be frustrating to quit half of the time, but it’s early so you don’t lose much time. If you have less than 15 coins and you don’t quit, this will catch up to you and you’ll regret it later. Level 1-3 - Play normally, You’ll notice that your shots now pierce through enemies thanks to that upgrade! Level 1-4 - Pley from one of the corners. Do not play in the center. From the corners, enemies can only approach from 2 areas. In the center, that number changes to 4 so it’s important to fight from the corners. Kill things as they approach. If possible, don’t kill them unless they are close to you. Do not leave a corner unless an important item like a coin drops. The level will soon become clogged with many enemies but don’t use a nuke even though it’s tempting because you will miss out on many items. Once the timer runs out, spawns stop so you can then leave the corners to kill the remainders. At the end of the level, a shop will appear. Spend 10 coins on the gun upgrade. If you don’t have 10 coins… I’m sorry, but quit and start over. You’ll probably only have to quit about 10% of the time. Try to have a nice item in your reserve slot at the end of the level. Level 1-Boss - Kill! Don’t use items. Save them for 2-1. World 2 tips - Those annoying mushroom enemies will now die in one hit instead of two because you have the powerup. Without that power-up, it’s very difficult to beat the mushroom guys without dying. These guys move really fast unless they run diagonally which is why diagonal shooting is better. Try not to kill enemies at the edge of the screen because it’s very easy to get spawned on by the mushrooms. The only exception is if a “5” coin is at the edge because these are very important. You also cannot hide in the corners since the moths spawn from all the edges. Level 2-1 - Stay in the center so you have a clear shot at the mushroom enemies that will spawn from all 4 directions. At the end of the level, a shop will appear. If you have… 0-25 coins (likely unless you are extremely lucky), don’t buy anything. It’ll be tempting to spend 8 coins on the boots, but don’t. 26-30 coins, get the boots 30+ coins, get the ammo upgrade. Keep in mind - you need to save up 30 coins before the end of 2-3, or it’s probably game over. Level 2-2 This is when the difficult ramps up. Stay in the center, slightly up and to the left. You want to be in an area that lets you have a clear shot between the stump and tree to the right. This is because the mushroom guys can’t move through trees even though you can fire through trees. Items like the wheel and the star badge are your best friends on this level. Level 2-3 This area has 6 bridges. Three on top and three on the bottom. You want to fight in the top area just above the left and center bridge. Do not fight in the center. Although many guides say to this, I found that the top area is much easier. If an enemy appears from the top, kill it immediately by shooting diagonal up right. If enemies are below you, show left down or right down through the bridges. If moths appear on your left or right, kill them. This strategy will cause the mushroom enemies to get clogged in the two bridges below you. When this happens, picking them off by shooting left down and right down is easy. And because you are not directly above either bridge, they’ll get confused and try to cross the rivers, but they can’t. You can stray from this area to get items, but try to return as soon as possible. It will get hectic, but the more enemies there are, the more items that drop. You’ll need to have 30 coins by the end of this level. When the shop appears, get the 30 coin ammo upgrade! If you don’t have enough coins, don’t buy anything. Try to have the wheel or star badge by the end of the level. Level 3-1 If you don’t have the 30 coin ammo upgrade, this level will most likely end your game because the mummies have lots of HP. And red devils will take 2 hits instead of one. Without the upgrade, you will simply not have enough firepower to stay alive unless you get constant power-ups. Priority should go to killing the red devils. You can now start using nukes since coins are no longer vital to you getting the trophy. When the shop appears, get the gun upgrade if you can. You should now have 2 gun upgrades (important) and 2 ammo upgrades (absolutely necessary). You may also have a boot upgrade if you got lucky with coins, but it’s not vital. Level 3-2 Same strategy as above, but this is when your skill at this game starts to not matter, and luck matters more. You’ll always want to have a power-up active if you can. Pray that a new power-up drops before your current one runs out. If you die, keep playing so you can practice killing the final boss. Level 3-3 This is when your skill goes out the window and your luck with items dropping will determine your fate. Always have a power-up active and hope that you get a new one before your current one runs out. Without a power-up active, you’ll be dead in 5-10 seconds. The star badge is your best friend here. And this is the most important part of this guide: Have a machine gun power-up in your reserve item slot (star badge is okay also but machine gun is preferred.) when the level ends. If you do, the trophy is yours. If you don’t, it’s not. It’s really that simple, lol. If you die, still make sure to have the machine gun at the end of the level. You won’t get the trophy but you’ll be able to practice killing the final boss for your next attempt. Final boss This is where your machine gun power-up gets you the trophy. I don’t know how anyone could get this trophy without doing this. Get to the top of the screen, point down, activate the machine gun, and fire. You want to be slightly off center so the bosses bullets (which will only be going straight up) do not hit you, BUT only slightly, because you want your bullets to hit him. His HP will quickly plummet as you… er… unload your gun inside of him. This trick works because for the first 10 seconds of the battle, all he does is stay in one place and shoots straight up. After that short time window, he will then begin moving around and firing directly at you. Don’t let his happen. Kill him before he has the chance.
