I know I got it later than recommended in the guide I followed, and if you've tried on a save in July I don't think the date is the issue. Maybe just unlucky she wasn't there or something? Yes I have tried doing it the day after talking to the boy at the shrine as well (Should have mentioned that before) Although the only thing that I can think of that I haven't done is try this during the weekend. Because in my guide Sunday is when he says to get it. Perhaps it isn't the date that isn't the issue if you were able to get it after those dates. Thanks for posting btw. Although IIRC you can buy the bugs you need (from the TV shopping channel I think), so if that's still an option that could perhaps help you clear the S Link without needing it.
