I have just earned 100% in this game and it wasn't very difficult.

 

What you basically want to do is to overtake the enemies, drive over those special spots which say "jump" or "wheelie" and collect those white extra points as well as the gas.

One general tip I can give you is that you should create interrupt saves a bit earlier than neccessary, because the game seems to have some sort of lag in terms of putting you back into the game, just like Elevator Action had.

 

Do not drive into the grass / rocks / bushes and do not steer while you are driving through a puddle.

 

I was able to earn the required 50000 points between the third and the fourth city, so there was still a lot of the tour left.

The High-Score mode is easy as well, I think that the lowest score on the High-Score list is 7200 points.  I failed with around 16000 points & was able to upload my score.
