The book takes place in the years 1847-1868 and chronicles Bram's journey to what would lead to his original novel. Dacre religiously pored over his uncle's original 120 original pages missing from the manuscript of the first novel and created this book from what he read. Included in the book are pages of author's notes describing the creation process of this origin story. The book is available in jacketed hardcover and paperback, although I recommend the hardcover because it comes in a sleek looking jacket with gold embroidered cover that is black and red.
