Sewers - Grundy's glitch

So my game glitched, in the secret room where you fight Croc during the first mission you need to dig something up with Grundy, I did 4 times now and every single time my game breaks. I cannot move or do anything other than pausing the game. Has anyone had this problem? And no, I cannot kill myself with the second character, I don't have a 2nd controller for the time being.

Okay so I quickly went to my friend to borrow a 2nd controller, I killed myself with it and it helped.
