Tournament Mode - Nobody in tournaments

So I played this game about a year ago and tournaments were packed with people. There were numerous almost full tournaments going on. So many that you could leave ten or fifteen of them and still find plenty of others. Now, when I start a new tournament, I am placed by myself as 1/32 players every single time. I know the online in this game has been really buggy for almost a year. But my question is: is the online just completely dead, or is the tournament mode just bugged? About a month ago the multiplayer mode didn't work at all until a patch. Has anyone who has played in the past month had trouble getting into tournaments?

 

Just a heads up if you plan to start it soon, you might run into the same problem.

Started happening to me just over a month ago. Don't think it's because the online is dead, because I was getting tournament matches just fine before it started happening. So not sure what it wrong with it.

I ended up boosting the win with seven other people in a session. For anyone that doesn't have this trophy yet and ran into the same problem I did, that's basically the only option.

I've been in a tournament stuck at 15 people for about 3 months now; I'm guessing the ability to join other people in tournaments has been lost, now you can only be invited ?
