Yeah I see the game also still has the bug/glitch where you can get stuck on the beam while trying to jump it. Bloody thing has been around since launch. It's annoying but because you can't break it usually yourself have to wait till someone collides with you or you get slingshotted off the screen eventually.

 

Btw quick grabbing is a method to make other people fail their jumps in this. If you grab and release then jump just as the beam comes it will usually allow you to jump over it while the opponent grabbed will be in a recover animation as the beam hits them.
