What i found was helpful for me was getting the Fleece of the Glass Cannon and then make your way through the dungeon until you get the hounds of fate curse. Once you get to the boss spam the curse and he will be dead in a second. That way also you can keep your distance.
Another curse that i found helpful is the Divine Guardian as you can get 2 seconds of invincibility.
