Maybe your skater is facing perpendicular to the stairs, firecrackers only continue the combo if you are facing straight or backwards, take me a while to figure it out, I platted OlliOlli 2 and 100% OlliOlli, but firecrackers is a new mechanic. This is the reason, if you don't do any spins at all you will always land a firecracker. It's hard to tell you're perpendicular to the stairs while spamming spins, you're not facing forwards or backwards the moment you hit the stairs when you fail to land one.
