Popular Post Flukedit
So I just got the Weapon Mastery trophy, which is for getting SSS proficiency in every weapon. Gotta say, these kinds of trophies are a complete waste of time. Grindy trophies can have their place, such as level a character to level 99 in a JRPG for example, but at least in that scenario, there is an actual benefit for doing so ie. their stats generally increase making it easier over time. There are a few of problems with this one I would like to mention, just to get it out of my head: 1. There is no benefit for increasing the proficiency of a weapon beyond `C` other than seeing another letter appear next to it 2. As there is no benefit to this, the whole proficiency "mechanic" is completely pointless 2a. Even limiting it to `S` which would be the same as the max rank for missions, would have been annoying, but would have cut the time in half at least 2b. As it's called proficiency, you would think that as you become more proficient, you could be able to deal for damage, by, I dunno maybe dealing damage bonus per level, or learn new combos, which you instead learn by leveling the weapon for some reason 3. There is no reasonable way to get your weapons to this level during the rest of the trophy grind, or even just a regular play through, so this is just here for the sake of it 3a. Once I had finished everything bar the hard trophy (which also doesn't stack, another trophy type I dislike), I had `S` on one weapon, and `A` on another, so it became 10 or so hours of grinding out the same level over and over, and by that point as well, all the resources you are getting are useless as well 4. The lack of new game plus, or any reason to play the game once you have S-ranked every mission, means that now that I have `SSS` next to every weapon, I'm never going to see it, as there is no reason to load that save anymore The only silver-lining from this, at least for me, is that I now know that I hate the slow spear thing, and actually quite like the great sword. Sorry if this seems a bit ranty, but trophies/achievements have been around almost 2 decades now, and for some reason we are still getting these shitty things.
Burritoprime
Totally get you, trophies ask us to do some stupid and pointless stuff, like now for example, I practically have Digimon Cybersleuth Hacker's Memory platinum but I need to get all 700 medals which are pure RNG(the worst kind) they serve no purpose other than being there, another one that comes to mind is in Star Ocean 5, there's a BT that asks for 1M hits, when you finish the game you'll not even have half of this, so I spent 30 hours farming hits...hitting the enemy over and over and over again....I honestly question my life choices at times. Flukedit
Ah yeah, I'm playing that at the moment as well, so something to look forward to... at least I was able to import the ones from the first game so maybe it'll be a bit quicker. Get yourself 3 BlackKingNumemons and equip them with the Large Capacity USB's, took me no time at all to get any medal I wanted.

Gotta say, I came for the rant but actually got some advice for a trophy that annoys me aswell. Thanks for this, will definitely go try this. Those medals are killing. Even have alittle spreadsheet to say where I got medals and where I still need to grind.

Funny how that works out sometimes
Galserik
Some of the things that I would never understand in some games is that difficulty trophies doesn't stack. And the useless SSS in all weapon is just stupid and pointless. It reminds me some other trophies that had 0 sense, like kill 10k monsters in FF9. Growllanser
One thing that might help future platinum seekers - playing the game on the hardest difficulty will make this grind take less time. The first weapon was already at S by the time I reached chapter 2 since enemies have so much more HP.
