The Faction Trophy question

How long does it take to get this trophy and is it an online only trophy?

it takes a while, you get faction XP from daily faction challenges and daily faction vault missions, they give solid amount of XP but they are daily
you can also equip relics that increase a specific faction's XP and certain missions give some amount of faction XP

I'd say focus on other trophies and keep taking the daily challenges/missions, they are quite easy

To add to the previous comment, rescuing AIM prisoners also awards 50 XP to a faction. If they are locked in a container they are Inhuman and if they are locked in a depot then they are part of Shield. You can load up a mission with a prisoner near the start (for example "...And We're Back!" on the Eastern Seaboard), save the prisoner (the game saves automatically after you rescue them), then quit and re-load the mission again. 

 

This was the last trophy I needed for platinum. To get to Level 25, it took around 11 days of faction challenges/vault challenges and the 100+ AIM prisoners I rescued.
